Hotel Residence Green Lobster
Nerudova 42

Residence Green Lobster is a 14-room boutique hotel in a restored 14th-century building. Located in the Malá Strana quarter, this three-pearl sweetheart of a hotel is within walking distance of major attractions like Prague Castle and Charles Bridge. Many of the elegant rooms feature canopied beds with dramatic bedding, flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and kettles. There’s little else that’s inviting here, as there’s no restaurant, gym, bar, or even breakfast. Wi-Fi is free and cold bottled drinks are for sale in the lobby. Prices are hard to beat at Green Lobster, but Kampa Garden is a good alternative for on-site breakfast, free minibars in rooms, and a location closer to Old Town.

The Golden Wheel Boutique Hotel
Nerudova 217/28

The 17 rooms of the three-and-a-half-pearl Hotel The Golden Wheel achieve an impressive balance of elegant contemporary and historical design, turning tightish quarters into appealing spaces. The higher up and farther back you go in the hotel, the better these elements become, including views of Prague Castle. It’s the castle that sets the tone of the surrounding neighborhood, with the city's historic Royal Road passing right out front. While it's a prime location for visiting the castle, and walking distance to Charles Bridge, attractions in Old Town are a bit of a hike. The hotel's street is also sloped, which could be tricky for guests with mobility issues. On-site features are very limited, but an attached cafe does provide breakfast, for a fee. For a more relaxed atmosphere at similar value and design, try the Questenberk Hotel farther to the west.

A Plus Hotel & Hostel
Na Florenci 1413/33

With 43 rooms, this two-pearl property is one of the largest hostels in Prague, and is among the few in the city to offer separate, female-only dorm rooms. It draws budget-minded tourists for its convenient location in Prague 1, within walking distance to Florenc tram and metro stations, and Old Town Square. Dated lounge areas, small rooms with hard beds, and communal bathrooms could all use updates. Wi-Fi isn't available in rooms. However, the free breakfast in the cozy basement bar/restaurant is a nice extra, as are the shared kitchen and living room with a foosball table and dartboard. Like in most hostels frequented by younger guests, common areas can get noisy at night. The nearby Jurys Inn Prague has nicer rooms with private bathrooms, for slightly higher rates.

Hostel One Home
Hybernska 1008/22

This two-pearl property is centrally located in Prague and just six minutes on foot to Namesti Republiky. With only seven rooms, the hostel may be small, but there’s rarely a dull moment thanks to several common areas for mingling, staff-organized activities like pub crawls, and a lively atmosphere amidst fun decor. The dorm-like vibe appeals to younger adults in particular -- the age limits to stay here are 18 to 45. Like most hostels, simply furnished rooms and shared bathrooms are basic and with few amenities, but clean. Free nightly family-style dinners, cheap buffet breakfasts, laundry services, and free Wi-Fi are perks for budget-minded travelers. The constantly-buzzing, often loud environment is definitely geared towards guests looking to socialize and party. Those wanting a more quiet respite may prefer the Ibris Praha Old Town nearby, which has similar rates.

HOLIDAY HOME - Hotel, Pension
Americka 37

The 12-room HOLIDAY HOME – Hotel, Pension is a family-run budget property that's a step above a hostel. Rooms are clean and simple, equipped with flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi, plus some have multiple beds, mini-fridges, and kettles. There's a shared kitchenette area for guest use. The hotel's location outside of the city center isn’t ideal, though it’s right by a metro station that gives access to the Old Town in 10 minutes, as well as other tourist sites. Anna Hotel provides a good alternative that offers free breakfast, an Internet corner, and a small lobby bar, but it's also far from sights.

U Krale Karla
Uvoz 4/170

The upper-middle-range Hotel U Krale Karla (King Charles) is housed in a charming, historic building with elegant decor and a romantic atmosphere drawing couples. It’s within walking distance of some sights like Prague Castle and Charles Bridge, but a bit far from Old Town. Its 19 spacious guest rooms are elegantly decorated with antiques, and they're equipped with amenities like flat-screen TVs, minibars, and Nespresso machines -- but the espresso pods cost a fee and the spaces lack air-conditioning. Features are limited, with no on-site restaurant, bar, or gym, but the hotel does offer a breakfast buffet that can be included in room rates, as well as free Wi-Fi and a public computer. Hotel Pod Vezi is a decent alternative that's within walking distance of the Old Town and has a Czech restaurant on-site.

Dolce Vita Suites
Vejvodova 443/8

Tucked away on a cobblestoned lane in Prague's Old Town, Dolce Vita Suites is an upper-middle-range hotel with only 12 guest rooms. This historic building dates back to the 14th century and was completely renovated in 2013, though many of its charming period features, including high ceilings and exposed beams, have been retained. Rooms are bright and spacious. They include sofas, flat-screen TVs, electric kettles, and minibars. Features, however, are limited to an in-house Italian restaurant and a bar, and breakfast is neither free nor particularly outstanding. Guests can walk to the Astronomical Clock and Old Town Square within five minutes. Travelers looking for something larger may want to consider the Hotel Majestic Plaza Prague near Wenceslas Square instead.

Hilton Prague
Pobrezni 1

The 791-room Hilton Prague is less opulent and less centrally located than its luxury competitors -- but rates are also lower. Its interior atrium with an impressive skylight makes a big first impression, but this hotel excels in business casual rather than luxurious formality. The conservative rooms are modern but generic, with minibars and flat-screen TVs, and only the Suites -- with an extra bathroom, kitchenette, and three-jet body showers -- truly displays luxury status. The hotel offers an array of amenities, including a casino, multiple dining options, 38 meeting rooms, an indoor pool, huge gym, and a spa, but certain parts of the property appear a bit dated and in-room Wi-Fi incurs a fee. A more stylish and centrally located option would be The Augustine Hotel Prague, but the rates reflect these upgrades.

Miss Sophie's Hotel
Melounova 3

Miss Sophie's Hotel is a mid-range boutique hotel with stylish, shabby-chic decor and few on-site features. However, it's associated directly with Miss Sophie's Hostel across the street, which offers 24-hour reception and a 24-hour bar with a spacious hangout spot, cafe-like atmosphere, and daily buffet breakfast (extra fee). Miss Sophie's 16 rooms on the hotel-side are small (but quite stylish) with flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, coffee and tea facilities, AC, and free Wi-Fi. En-suite bathrooms are tiny and contemporary with rainfall showerheads and heated towel racks. The nearby Boutique Hotel Seven Days has more property features -- like a restaurant, small fitness area, and a spa -- though it also has dated decor.

angelo by Vienna House Prague
Radlicka 3216/1G

Angelo by Vienna House Prague is a modern, three-and-a-half-pearl hotel offering 163 air-conditioned rooms, as well as five suites with terraces and a view overlooking Prague. The hotel has a cozy restaurant and vibey Jazz Bar serving a selection of local food and drinks. It's situated in the business district of Smichov, a 15-minute drive to Old Town Square and Charles Bridge. It's also a five-minute walk to the Andel Metro station. The hotel is geared towards a mix of tourists and business guests, although the volume of meeting space means it's heavily frequented by business guests. For something that's closer to the sights of the Old Town and with more polished style, check out the Design Hotel Jewel Prague, though it's pricier.
