Park Hyatt Siem Reap
Sivutha Boulevard

One of Siem Reap's finest hotels, the Park Hyatt is a luxury property located right in the center of downtown, yet hidden away from the hustle and bustle of its main street. The stunning public spaces provide an oasis of refined charm, as is apparent in the Courtyard, a rectangular terrace with hanging daybeds gazing onto a banyan tree illuminated by torches at night. Traditional Apsara dancing is performed here almost nightly, and food and drinks are served, too. The 109 guest rooms are all elegantly decorated in Khmer and contemporary decor, with high-end details such as Nespresso machines, wall-mounted media-hubs, Italian marble bathrooms, and sunken tubs. The one drawback, rooms lack a view or any outdoor space. Two swimming pools are on-site as well, along with a world-class fitness center, a fine spa with a yoga room and steam room, and several chic and upscale drinking and dining options. The Dining Room offers provincial French and high-end Khmer cuisine, while the Glasshouse serves pastries and coffee in a conservatory-like atmosphere. Hyatt's location -- five minutes on foot to Pub Street and the Night Market and a 15-minute drive to the temples of Angkor Wat -- is another boom. Other than its lack of views, it's the perfect stay. But it will drain your wallet, as it is one of the most expensive hotels in town, with prices rivaling nearby competitors like Raffles.

The Moon Boutique Hotel
Phum Wat Bo, Sala Kamreuk Commune

The Moon Boutique Hotel is a quaint, budget option that's a five-minute drive outside of downtown Siem Reap. There are only 17 simple rooms here, and all feature small patios plus modern amenities like flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi. The hotel is arranged around a garden swimming pool, and there's an open-air restaurant filled with objets d'art overlooking the pool as well. A tranquil one-room spa rounds out the facilities here. Free tuk-tuk services into town are available, and guests are given mobile phones to call whenever they need a pick-up. Travelers may want to consider Memoire d'Angkor Boutique Hotel, where rooms have more personality and walks into town are far shorter.

Bou Savy Guest House
Road No. 6, Taphul Village, Khum Svay Dangkum

Bou Savy Guesthouse is a small guesthouse aimed at Siem Reap's budget market. It offers a great value for travelers looking for a quiet place to escape what can be a hectic little town. Located down a small dirt road, the feel is like that of a country family home, yet it's just a 15-minute walk to wild Pub Street. There are 30 rooms here, with either fans or air-conditioning, and while decor is simple, they have contemporary Khmer touches, and are some of the best value digs in Siem Reap, especially when you add in the small swimming pool. Freebies include breakfast, Wi-Fi, and airport pickup, making this an even smarter choice for those in town to see the Angkor Wat sights.

Siddharta Boutique Hotel
Jean Commailles Road

The Siddharta Boutique Hotel is a small resort with just 28 rooms, located outside of the Siem Reap downtown on the road to Angkor Wat. While the hotel is far from restaurants and bars, it is close to the temples, as well as the airport. There are mostly Deluxe Rooms here, with a couple of Honeymoon and Family suites. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, safes, and minibars, and come with free breakfast and Wi-Fi. The Siddharta has a swimming pool in a sunny courtyard, small spa, and rooftop restaurant and lounge. An added bonus is that rooms include a free tuk tuk driver throughout one's stay. It's a quiet property, located off the main road, and is best for those looking to escape the crowds and noise of central Siem Reap.

Pavillon d'Orient Boutique-Hotel
Road no 60 , after Psah Leu market

The Pavillon d'Orient is a small boutique hotel with 35 rooms, located on one of the access roads into Angkor Wat, slightly outside the town center of Siem Reap. The hotel has a charming colonial style, with rooms featuring hardwood floors, rattan furnishings, and modern amenities like flat-screen TVs, minibars, and safes, as well as pleasant terraces with comfortable chairs. The hotel has two salt water swimming pools, a small spa, and the Le Planteur restaurant/bar where free breakfast is served, along with lunch and dinner. While there aren't any restaurants, bars, or shops nearby, and the hotel is a 10-minute drive from downtown, guests are provided with free tuk tuk service during their stay, making it easy to get around. Rates are a bit higher than those at the sister hotel, The Siddharta, but it really does feel like a true boutique stay, and is a pleasant choice for those who want peace and quiet away from town.

MotherHome Inn
Taphul Village, Svay Dangkum Commune

One of several MotherHome properties spread across Siem Reap, this simple value hotel is aimed at the budget crowd, but it's certainly above typical backpacker standards, with clean rooms, a sparkling pool, and and a restaurant and bar. Its 39 rooms come with minibars and large flat-screen TVs, and rates include Wi-Fi and breakfast. Massages are also available in the hotel's treatment room. Though there are several restaurants in the immediate area, walks to the action around Pub Street and downtown will take 15 to 20 minutes. For something closer to the tourist zone, travelers might want to consider the Golden Temple Villa.

Borei Angkor Resort & Spa
National Road 6, Banteay Chas

An impressive and regal resort, the Borei Angkor is located in a local neighborhood far from the throngs of tourists -- but also far from the main commercial attractions. In terms of facilities, the upscale Borei Angkor is at the top of the game, commanding the area's best spa, an attractive free-form pool, a fully outfitted fitness complex, and multiple drinking and dining options. The resort has a sense of place; local touches are found throughout the public spaces, such as staff in traditional costumes, live Khmer music, and beautiful sculptures. The resort houses 188 rooms with all the expected amenities (flat-screen TVs, minibars, coffee stations, free Wi-Fi) and one luxurious extra -- a balcony with pool or city views. Sadly, Deluxe Rooms are in need of a refresh and don’t match the same quality and elegance found throughout the rest of the hotel. For the price, boutique properties like Pavillon d’Oriente has rooms in a much better state, although these other hotels can’t touch the facilities of the Borei Angkor.

Cheathata CTS Hotel Siem Reap
Angkor Night Market Road, City Center, Old Market Area

The 38-room Cheathata CTS Hotel Siem Reap is a mid-range property with a convenient location in the center of town, near lively Pub Street. Featuring classic decor with lots of wood, rooms are equipped with air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, minibars, and free Wi-Fi. Some have small balconies with nice city views. The most popular feature here is the rooftop pool and bar, which also offers city views. The restaurant serves local cuisine, including a free breakfast buffet. Other freebies include airport transfers, use of bicycles, and overnight shoeshines. As an alternative, the nearby Steung Siemreap Hotel is a similarly priced property, and it adds a fitness center.

Pacific Hotel & Spa
Road No.6, Kaksekam Village, Sror Nge Commune

Pacific Hotel & Spa is an upscale property that sits along the National Road leading from Cambodia to Thailand. The hotel is closer to the airport than it is to the center of Siem Reap, but a thrice-daily free shuttle to take guests downtown. The 236 classic rooms feature wood floors and modern Khmer decor, along with free breakfast and Wi-Fi. The hotel has a large swimming pool with a hot tub and kids' section, and there's a large fitness center and spa. Additional features include a restaurant, two bars, and live music in the evening. Unfortunately, the hotel is often crowded with tour groups and there's little to do in the immediate area. The Victoria Angkor Resort & Spa offers the same perks, but a better location closer to town.

Angkor Palace Resort & Spa
No. 555, Phum Krous, Khum Svay Dangkum

The 260-room Angkor Palace Resort & Spa is a luxury hotel in the quiet countryside outside of Siem Reap. The sprawling grounds include a driving range, tennis courts, and a large free-form swimming pool, plus the hotel has a fitness center and large spa. Rooms, suites, and villas are elegant, with polished wooden floors, teak furniture, and modern amenities. Three on-site restaurants include a traditional wooden Khmer House serving authentic Khmer cuisine. While it's a 10-minute drive from the center of town, a free shuttle is a plus, and rates aren't nearly as high as other luxury properties in the area like Raffles Grand Hotel d'Angkor or Borei Angkor Resort & Spa, making this resort a great value.
