Hotel Pod Vezi
Mostecka 58/2, Prague 1 - Mala Strana

The 28-room Hotel Pod Vezi is an upper-mid-range property with a great central location next to the famous Charles Bridge. Many of Prague's top attractions are within walking distance. Rooms have a homey, traditionally elegant design with Nespresso coffeemakers, heated towel racks, robes, and antique chandeliers. Bathrooms lack counter space, though, and some rooms can only be reached using the stairs. On the top level there is a marvelous roof terrace with seating and beautiful city views, and all on-site cuisine, including the free breakfast, receives great reviews. There is no on-site fitness center and on-site parking costs extra, but the hotel is pet-friendly and has a business center and free Wi-Fi.

Alchymist Nosticova Palace
Nosticova 463/1

The 16-room, luxury Alchymist Nosticova Palace is a boutique gem, located in the historic Mala Strana district, a 10-minute walk from Charles Bridge. Positively palatial, the hotel's baroque interiors were designed by an art-loving owner for a decadent period finish and price tag to match. Its rooms and suites are romantic and opulent, with gilded furnishings alongside modern amenities like free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs. The on-site Italian restaurant serves a varied free hot and cold breakfast, but guests will have to walk seven minutes to access the spa and gym at a sister hotel. The hotel's period decor won't suit all tastes, but it's an excellent pick for lovers of historic charm. Travelers wanting modern decor and an on-site spa should consider the Buddha Bar Hotel.

Hotel Residence Retezova
Retezova 9, Old Town

The mid-range and pet-friendly Hotel Residence Retezova is an apartment hotel with nine separate units located in Prague's Old Town. The atmosphere feels more private than a typical hotel room, with comfy and historic apartments featuring antique furniture, kitchenettes, and original features such as exposed beam ceilings. Popular sights, restaurants, shops, and public transportation are all within easy walking distance. There is no on-site parking or fitness center, but there is a great breakfast included with some packages, served at the Cafe Ebel next door. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout, and front desk and concierge services are both 24-hours.

Grand Hotel Bohemia
Kralodvorska 4, Stare Mesto

The Grand Hotel Bohemia is a high-end, 78-room property with plenty of Art Nouveau flair set in the heart of Old Town Prague. The location is excellent for exploring the city's attractions on foot and even the castle is just a couple metro stops away. Rooms are tastefully finished and have top-notch bathroom amenities -- some higher levels have superb cityscape views. Lack of pool or spa facilities is a bit of a let-down, especially at this level. Some may prefer the Hotel Kings Court, which does have a spa and small pool, so it's worth comparing rates.

Le Palais Art Hotel Prague
U Zvonarky 65/1

Le Palais Art Hotel Prague is a beautiful, luxury hotel in a residential area. The 72 rooms are spacious and homey, decorated with gorgeous paintings and sculptures though pink floral bedspreads are a bit much. The boutique hotel has an impressive art collection, an elegant Italian restaurant on-site, and a large spa offering facials and massages. Free breakfast receives good reviews from guests, and the hotel has an outdoor patio for those visiting in the summer. It’s far from the main sightseeing attractions, but within walking distance to a tram.

Hotel Julian
Elisky Peskove 197/11

The upper-mid-range Hotel Julian has a friendly staff, a rustic restaurant and bar, and an outdoor terrace offering beautiful rooftop views. The hotel's  33 rooms vary in decor, and some are small with sharply angled walls. The Lesser Town location, on the left bank of the Vitava River, is outside the city center, and not within walking distance of Prague's major tourist attractions, although the Svandovo Divadio tram stop is within a five-minute walk, and the Andel City shopping and business mall is within a 15-minute walk. Guests might also want to check out the Unitas Hotel, an upscale boutique hotel within walking distance of the Old Town, with slightly higher rates.

NH Prague City
Mozartova 261/1, Smichov

The upper-middle-range NH Hotel Prague has 439 rooms split between two buildings that are linked by a cable car. Rooms in both buildings are spacious, with high ceilings and lots of natural light. On-site features include an Italian restaurant -- Il Giardino -- and a fitness center, and there are playgrounds and tennis courts nearby. The property is in the Smichov area, within a short walk of shops and restaurants and it's well connected to the rest of Prague by public transportation.

K+K Hotel Fenix
Ve Smechkach 596/30

The K+K Fenix is part of a small Austrian hotel chain with properties around Europe. One of two K+K hotels in Prague, this upscale property is centrally located next to Wenceslas Square, within an easy walk to Old Town. The hotel is clean and modern, and caters to business travelers, with free Wi-Fi and an elegant lounge. Its 127 guest rooms are spacious and simply furnished. The well-stocked buffet breakfast is free and includes sparkling wine, and there’s a gym and sauna, with massages available. While the hotel is within easy reach of tourist attractions, there are lots of restaurants and bars nearby, along with a few strip clubs. Travelers who want to be closer to Old Town can try the K+K Hotel Central, which has similar rates.

Unitas Hotel
Bartolomejska 9

The Unitas Hotel is an upmarket, 22-room boutique with a rich and fascinating history located just on the edge of Prague's Old Town. Although not particularly attractive, the road it is set on is generally quiet and most sights are easily walkable. Breakfast is a real highlight -- including sparkling wine and cooked-to-order options -- while rooms are spacious and unfussy. Rates are on the high side (the more upscale Grand Hotel Bohemia charges around the same) though it's still a strong contender if for the excellent breakfast alone.

Hotel Roma
Ujezd 425/24, Mala Strana, Praha 1

The 87-room Hotel Roma Prague is a mid-range property with a convenient location near restaurants and shops. A public transportation stop across the street connects to major sights, such as the Old Town. Rooms are mostly a good size with minibars and electric kettles, but the decor is dated and some rooms experience exterior noise. The on-site breakfast room in a bright conservatory serves an excellent free breakfast and there is free Wi-Fi throughout. Outside there is a seasonal garden with seating, and the fitness center has an updated sauna and kids' play area. Parking is available on-site and there are concierge services and a 24-hour business center with two computers.
