Manapany
Anse des Cayes 97133 St. Barthelemy

Located directly on intimate Anse de Cayes, Le Manapany has many admirable features: a fantastic pool deck, a nice beachfront restaurant, a tranquil spa, a small boutique, and direct beach access. But the rooms vary greatly in both size and style -- ranging from overtly stark modern to Robinson Crusoe chic and everything in between. Some guests complain they are smaller and not as chic as others on St. Barts. But then again, it's hard to come by this many amenities at this price point anywhere else on the island. Manapany’s biggest competitor is the posh Hotel Guanahani & Spa, which is far more refined -- and much more expensive. For travelers travelers looking for more features than a boutique hotel can offer, but lower rates than the luxury resorts require, Manapany is about as good as it gets.

Abaka Bay Resort
Anse du Four

Abaka Bay Resort is a three-pearl beachfront property on Haiti’s Ile-a-Vache. The hotel’s set on a stunner of a secluded beach with amazing sunset views. The 26 air-conditioned rooms are painted in warm pastels and have vaulted ceilings, king or queen beds, and most have amazing ocean views. Many aren’t fancy and are a bit underwhelming for the price, and many lack TVs. A pool is also missing. Tasty buffet meals served at the beachfront restaurant are included with all stays, but drinks are extra. Freebies include kayaks, canoes, a foosball table, and Wi-Fi. Mosquitos and sand flies can be bad, so don’t forget bug spray. For an Ile-a-Vache alternative with panoramic Caribbean views and an amazing pool, check out the nearby Hotel Port Morgan as well.

Port Morgan
Haiti

Port Morgan Hotel is a two-and-a-half-pearl property on Haiti’s pretty Ile-a-Vauche island. Its 25 bright, air-conditioned rooms are big but dated and plain, and have king or double beds, minibars, and private patios or balconies with harbor or marina views. The secluded, manmade beach feels like a deserted island refuge with overhanging shade trees, sun-bleached lounge chairs, and great snorkeling right offshore. Even more ocean views are on offer at the restaurant, which also overlooks the saltwater pool. Be sure to try the mamba, the hotel’s homemade spicy peanut butter spread. For a beachier vibe with oceanfront rooms, its worth pricing out the nearby Abaka Bay Resort, which has a long, sandy beach, waterfront restaurant, and free kayaks and canoes.

Royal Decameron Indigo Beach Resort & Spa

The amazing beach is a mile long and there are a ton of free activities including kayaking, sailboats, two pools, Har-Tru tennis courts, an archery range, and a kids' club. The three restaurants all have ocean views and get positive reviews -- especially the delicious casual buffet restaurant. As an alternative, for a beachy stay with charming gingerbread architecture, lush grounds, and a big freshwater pool, Moulin Sur Mer hits the spot.

Moulin Sur Mer is a three-pearl oceanfront resort with charming colonial architecture on Haiti’s Les Cotes des Arcadin. Its 67 air-conditioned rooms have beachy interiors plus air-conditioning and rainfall showerheads in bathrooms, though some look dated. Other amenities include a restaurant, coffee shop, mini-golf course, and free clear-bottom kayaks. The hotel aspires to be a local hotspot and guests looking for some R&R might want to avoid its beachside nightclub (it gets crowded and sceney on weekends). For an oceanfront resort with tons of amenities, great restaurants, and all-inclusive packages, it’s worth pricing out Royal Decameron Indigo Beach Resort and Spa.

The sprawling hotel has a bar and four restaurants that serve Haitian-European fusion, Japanese, and local and international cuisines. There’s no pool, so visitors looking for a post-work swim should consider elsewhere. Other perkss include rooftop yoga classes (for a fee), a big gym, and a free welcome cocktail.Free round-trip airport transfers also add to the value here, though it's a bit far from central Petionville destinations. Kinam Hotel
Place St. Pierre

Most of hotel’s 118 air-conditioned rooms were built in 2014 and have modern furnishings with padded headboards, rainfall showerheads, and flat-screen TVs. However, the hotel’s older rooms are a bit cheaper and set in its original Gingerbread-style building -- they can be loud and visitors are better off staying in the newer rooms. The hotel has a ton of amenities including two restaurants, two bars, shopping, a coffee shop, a gym, and a pool. Other big pluses are the free roundtrip airport shuttle and the amazing rooftop views of the city. Alternatively, it’s worth pricing out NH Haiti El Rancho Hotel, which has lush grounds, a big pool, and a lively social scene that's also in Petionville,

Best Western Premier Petion-Ville
50 Angle Louverture & Geffrard

Best Western Premier Petionville is an artsy, three-and-a-half pearl business hotel in Port-au-Prince’s upscale Petionville neighborhood. The hotel is hipper than many in this chain's portfolio, and is full of sculptures, paintings, and photographs by Haitian artists. Its 106 air-conditioned rooms are big and modern with beautiful hardwood furniture. The hotel’s restaurant serves local and international cuisine and has a huge terrace with amazing city views, though reviews are mixed. Amenities include a small pool, a compact fitness room, a spa, and free shuttle service to any destination within a three-mile radius of the hotel. For an alternative hotel that blends Old-World charm with modern interiors, lush grounds, and a social vibe, it’s worth considering NH Haiti El Rancho Hotel.

Hotel Cyvadier Plage
Route Departmentale 41, Cyvadier Plage

Hotel Cyvadier is a three-pearl oceanfront property located on a breathtaking, jungle-covered cove just outside of Jacmel. Its 30 rooms are simple, but pleasant, though features vary between Premium and Economy Rooms. Expect king or queen beds, optional air-conditioning, and colorful Haitian paintings or wrought-iron sculptures on the wall. None of the rooms had TVs during our summer 2016 visit, but were scheduled to be added in the fall. The cliffside setting means that the bar and tasty restaurant have amazing ocean and cove views. There’s also a freshwater pool shaped like an infinity-sign surrounded by funky, mod-styled seating. For a stay with oceanfront rooms and a gym that's within walking distance of downtown Jacmel, it's worth pricing out the nearby Cap Lamandou Hotel.
