Hilton Dubai Creek
Baniyas Road

The 150-room Hilton Dubai Creek is a high-end, business-oriented hotel with the upscale finish expected from the Hilton chain. While its creekside location makes for some superb views and easy access from the airport, tourist will find themselves a bit far from the beaches and shopping malls. There is a rooftop pool with sweeping views and a fitness center on-site. Rooms are smart and spacious with floor-to-ceiling windows to take full advantage of the impressive panoramas plus luxe bathrooms and stocked minibars. The main event, however, is the world-class Table 9 restaurant, reputed as one of the finest in Dubai and, if the property's lack of family-friendly or spa facilities isn't a problem, good enough reason alone to consider staying here. There is a pesky fee for Wi-Fi.

Hilton Dubai The Walk
The Walk, Jumeirah Beach Residence

The upscale Hilton Dubai The Walk is the sister property of the adjacent Hilton Dubai Jumeirah Resort and takes its name from its location on one of Dubai's most popular strolling, shopping, and dining areas in the Jumeirah Beach Residence. It offers 364 apartment-style accommodations complete with kitchens and laundry facilities that range from studios to lavish four-bedroom units and feature highly stylized mid-century modern decor and expansive views. The hotel has two family-friendly restaurants as well as a lounge and bar with outdoor seating and gorgeous views from its 35th-floor perch. There's also an outdoor pool and a modern fitness center, but guests have access to all of the five-pearl facilities of the neighboring sister hotel as well. The prices are comparable between the two properties, but the Hilton Dubai The Walk offers more space and independence, which attracts families, larger parties, and extended-stay visitors.

Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Dubai, Jbr
Shams Cluster 3 The Walk, Jumeirah Beach Residence

The upscale, 188-room Hawthorne Suites by Wyndham Hotel is located at the start of The Walk, a tourist promenade behind the beach lined with cafes and restaurants. It's one of the most affordable options in this area, and has spacious, modern, suite-style rooms, most with kitchenettes. However, decor is a bit spare; the pool, while sunny, is small for Dubai; and the breakfast (not typically included in the rate) is a bit pricey for what you get. This property feels like a converted apartment complex and lacks the level of service found at the luxury hotels nearby; it's possible to stay at a larger resort right on the beach, such as the Habtoor Grand Resort & Spa, for only a slightly higher price.

Sofitel Dubai The Palm Resort & Spa
East Crescent Road, The Palm Jumeirah

The Sofitel Dubai The Palm Resort & Spa is a five-pearl low-rise hotel situated on the East Crescent of Dubai's iconic Palm Jumeirah. Its 361 rooms are sleek and have gorgeous bathrooms; many also have sea views. While the resort's location makes it a poor choice for those planning on a lot of sightseeing, its restaurants, pools, and private beach make this self-contained property a hit with couples and vacationing families alike.

The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina
Dubai Marina

The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi Beach Resort is a grand, luxury-level property set in the south of Dubai between the Marina and Jumeirah Beach Districts. One of its main draws is the setting, right on one of Dubai's largest private sandy beaches, overlooking its calm waters. Another highlight is the scope of dining, with eight quality eateries to choose from, plus one of the best weekly Champagne brunches in town (with acrobat entertainment). The 294 spacious guests rooms and suites also impress as most -- though not all -- feature sea views. A choice of pools, excellent kids' club, and extensive spa complete an impressive resort hotel. Travelers who've come to Dubai for shopping or sights might prefer the location at the slightly more modest Dubai Marine Beach Resort and Spa.

Le Meridien Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina
Dubai Marina

This 220-room Meridien hotel is an upmarket, family-friendly resort set on Dubai's largest private white-sand beach. As well as a choice of pools, guests also have access to a wide range of beach and water-based activities -- including a playground for the kids, tennis court, beach volleyball court, and more. Rooms are nicely modernized and most open to furnished balconies with sea views, though noise from the famous on-site beach bar can be an issue late at night. While some will love the beach party vibe, those looking for a more serene break might be better suited elsewhere. Wi-Fi is free, but can be slow.

Millennium Airport Hotel Dubai
Airport Road, Casablanca St 45, Al Garhoud, PO Box 13018

The 341-room Millennium Airport Hotel is an upper-middle-range property conveniently located a five-minute drive from the Dubai airport. Some rooms have contemporary furnishings, plus bathrooms with showers and separate tubs, while others have a traditional design and shower/tub combos. All have free water, coffee/tea facilities, and minibars, but guests will have to pay for Wi-Fi. Though it caters to stopover guests, the hotel offers multiple features that include an outdoor pool with swim-up bar and loungers, a small gym, and business facilities. Multiple dining options include a British pub, Italian restaurant, and casual eatery where an extensive breakfast buffet is served. The Millennium provides a good value for quick stays, but tourists should consider the Citymax Al Barsha, which is within walking distance of the Mall of the Emirates.

Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Media City
Al Falak Street

This Radisson Blu Hotel is a business-oriented property principally servicing guests in town for meetings at Media City just across the road. While rooms are generally adequate, some Standard Rooms are small and can pick up noise from the occasionally lively bar. The rooftop Tamanya Terrace is a great place for al fresco drinks and there are two outdoor pools. The Radisson Blu is the pricier of the two hotels servicing Media City (the other being Media One) and has less of a party vibe than its counterpart.

Four Points by Sheraton Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai
Sheikh Zayed Road

The 384-room, centrally located upscale Four Points by Sheraton Sheikh Zayed Road offers stylish, contemporary rooms with balconies, with many higher-floor rooms offering terrific views of Dubai and the coast. Level 43 Lounge & Terrace draws a crowd eager to take in its skyline views and sip pricey cocktails, while the hotel also has an excellent on-site fitness center and rooftop pool. Dubai International Financial Center is five minutes away by car, and the metro is within a five-minute walk of the hotel. Guests looking to stay closer to Marina Beach and The Walk may want to try the JA Ocean View Hotel, which has bright, chic rooms within walking distance of the beach at similar rates.

Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort & Spa
Al Mamsha Street

Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort & Spa is a high-end, family-friendly hotel with over 500 rooms situated in Dubai's popular Jumeirah Beach Residence. Its huge grounds contain three swimming pools and extend to a large stretch of white-sand beach. While some room decor feels a little dowdy, renovated rooms are fresh and contemporary and many open to furnished balconies with sea views. Numerous dining options are top-class while an excellent kids' club keeps the little ones happy. While tourists wanting to see the sights might want to consider a more central hotel, those happy to stay put are unlikely to want to leave. Wi-Fi is free.
