Hotel Las Casas de El Arenal
Calle Castelar 16

Hotel Las Casas de El Arenal is a three-pearl historic hotel set in two traditional 18th century Sevillian homes, a four-minute walk to the Plaza de Toros in Seville’s city center. The 27 rooms are classic and elegant so expect antique furniture, floral patterns, and some wooden ceilings with exposed beams. Space is limited in the rooms, but all have flat-screen TVs, minibars, electric kettles, and air-conditioning. The lovely cold breakfast buffet, on-site parking, and free Wi-Fi are all great perks. Guests can gather in the central courtyard or rooftop solarium. A lack of a restaurant or gym are downsides, though as a historic boutique property, the missing features aren't all that surprising. Travelers could also consider Vincci La Rabida Hotel, which has two restaurants on-site.

Hotel Casa Imperial
Calle Imperial 29

The charming Hotel Casa Imperial is a three-pearl taste of traditional Andalucia. It has a great location in the winding streets of Seville's old town, and is within walking distance of the city's best shopping and attractions. The 26 rooms are spacious and simple, with amenities including kitchenettes and flat-screen TVs, though the bathrooms are rustic. Triple and Quad Rooms are useful for families and groups of friends. There are lots of secluded nooks for relaxing, including several leafy patios and a rooftop terrace with views of the cathedral. The hotel lacks features like a pool or restaurant, so if that's a deal breaker guests could take a look at nearby Las Casas de la Juderia. It has a similar traditional style, but adds a spa and restaurant.

Melia Lebreros
Calle Luis de Morales 2

One of four Seville locations of an urban hotel chain, Meliá Lebreros is a bit outside of the historic center and has one of the larger outdoor pools in the city. Parts of the older building, including higher-level rooms, have been renovated, but some areas could still use updating. Nonetheless, the Meliá is more affordable than other comparable properties, and also offers special family rooms with kid-friendly decor. The amenities, aside from the pool, include a gym open 24 hours daily, restaurants, bars, a nightclub that pays homage to New York’s Studio 54, and several meeting rooms.

Vincci La Rabida Hotel
Calle Castelar 24

This historic, 81-room boutique is centrally located in the old center of Seville, within walking distance of most major attractions. Common areas -- such as the gorgeous arched courtyard and the restaurants -- are classic, elegant and luxurious, with original architectural details dating back to the 18th century. Suites feature upscale touches, including lofted rooms with four-poster king beds, the occasional antique, and jetted tubs. But some Standard Rooms may be a little stark for some -- with simple wooden furniture and somewhat tired bathrooms -- and there is no fitness center or pool.

Hotel Don Paco
Plaza del Padre Jeronimo de Cordoba 4

This basic hotel is located near the center of Seville and offers some modern amenities, including a rooftop pool and bar with beautiful city views. Rooms at the back of the Don Paco are quieter. Popular with tour groups, it’s a sound, inexpensive property, though the decor might strike some as a little too simple.

Exe Sevilla Macerena
Calle de San Juan de Ribera 2

The 331-room TRYP Macarena -- located in front of Seville's old city wall -- has a great deal of Andalusian flavor for a chain property. There is a rooftop pool and terrace with panoramic views of Seville and the ancient city walls. Three restaurants serving regional dishes add to the authentic Spanish feel. This hotel is ideally located for Holy Week or the Feria de Abril de Sevilla, when the basilica next door plays a large role in the celebrations. Rooms are available in a variety of sizes but the grandeur of this property is fading, with some dated decor and complaints about thin walls.

Silken Al-Andalus Palace Hotel
Avenida de La Palmera s/n. Esquina C/ Parana

Part of the Spanish-Belgian Silken chain, the 623-room Silken Al-Andalus Palace Hotel is a huge hotel located two miles outside the Seville City Center. Public transportation is necessary to reach the city's major points of interest. There is a big outdoor pool with nice landscaping and plenty of lounge space, along with a small on-site gym. Rooms vary in design -- some on the designer floor were beautifully decorated by Seville designers Victorio & Lucchino -- while others are simple and somewhat generic. Some guests complain about the isolated location and lack of personal service.

Hotel Sevilla Center
Avenida la Buhaira 24

Part of Spain's Hoteles Center chain, the 233-room Sevilla Center Hotel is best known for the exquisite views from its rooftop restaurant and higher floor rooms. The Seville city center is located about 25-minutes on foot from the hotel, but the hotel does offer a big outdoor pool with spacious lounge areas and on-site fitness center with whirlpool. Seville's city center is easily accessible with nearby public transportation and the location of this hotel is convenient for the airport, but the hotel lacks character compared to more central, historic properties.

Hotel Vertice Sevilla
Avenida la Aeronautica s/n

The Vertice Sevilla is a mid-range chain hotel, situated about 45 minutes west of Seville’s main tourist area via public transportation. Because it's located just a seven-minute drive from a large convention center, it caters largely to business travelers (the airport is also nearby). The hotel is clean and adequate in terms of comfort, but has a generic feel from mauve vinyl easy chairs in the lobby to the laminate wood furniture throughout. There is a fitness center with a dry sauna, an outdoor pool that converts to an indoor pool in the winter, and free breakfast for early risers. Most agree that the neighborhood holds little appeal and that room decor is a little dated, but that the rooms are comfortable and the property is a good value.

Itaca Sevilla
Calle Santillana 5-7

This small hotel, which opened in 2011, is set in a traditional Seville-style palace and has a perfect location in the city’s historic center. Along with the charming atmosphere, including a light-filled, enclosed central courtyard, there’s a small rooftop pool and sun deck with views of the city. The contemporary room decor is a bit generic and doesn't incorporate many historical influences, but some rooms have shuttered windows facing the courtyard.
