Globales Condes de Alcudia
Avenida de la Playa, 4

The lower-middle-range Globales Condes de Alcudia is a typical resort-style hotel, though it has dated and worn furnishings throughout. The 244 air-conditioned rooms received a minor update in 2015 that included adding flat-screen TVs, and most have furnished balconies, but they're still showing age and some are quite small. The buffet dining is generally adequate and all-inclusive packages are available, plus organized activities keep things lively during the day, particularly for kids. The hotel's drawcard, though, is that most of the resort, including its vast beach, is just minutes' away on foot -- useful for when the pool gets busy. All in all, guests won't get any surprises either way at this average hotel. The similar BQ Delfin Azul Hotel is more modern and has a bigger pool, however it's farther from the resort center.

Seaclub Mediterranean Resort
Avenida de Mexico, S/n

The Seaclub Mediterranean Resort is an upper-middle-range, low-rise apartment complex set in extensive grounds in the popular Port d'Alcudia resort. The immediate surrounds are made up of mostly quiet waterways, while the long sandy beach, dining, and nightlife are all within 10 minutes on foot. Its 440 studios and one- and two-bedroom apartments are contemporary with simple cooking facilities, outdoor space, and spacious bathrooms, though Wi-Fi is not always free of charge. Buffet dining is adequate if not outstanding, though there's plenty of snack bars and two supermarkets. Seven pools and an excellent kids' club mean younger guests are kept happy, though beyond an adults-only pool, grown-ups might feel short-changed. All-in-all most families will find plenty to enjoy here though for a full-on child-focused resort, the nearby Club MAC Alcudia has direct waterpark access -- but be prepared for noisy crowds.

Eix Alcudia Hotel
Calle Teodoro Canet 43

The Eix Alcudia Hotel is an upscale, adult-only property set on a main road in the center of Port d'Alcudia. The resort's wide sandy beach is under five minutes on foot and numerous restaurants are also a short stroll away. A 2014 renovation means fresh and contemporary decor throughout, while the lack of children results in a particularly peaceful atmosphere. The 210 rooms are simple and modern, most with balconies overlooking the pool, though a charge for safes and hot drinks facilities is a downside. While lacking views, the main pool is long enough for laps, with plenty of loungers and an alfresco terrace; a spa is well-equipped though feels a little clinical. For an over-18 option with plenty of sea views check out the beachfront Vanity Hotel Golf, though expect to pay a little more.

Sol by Meliá Alcudia
Avenida Pere Mas I Reus S/N

With 220 apartments and 55 studios, Sol Alcudia Center Apartments is a three-pearl all-inclusive property with the added convenience of kitchens in the rooms. The location in Alcúdia is lovely, near beautiful sites and surrounded by an enchanting mix of sea and mountains. Decor wise, it is stuck in the 1960s, but it has a big pool, kids' pool, and is a two-minute walk from a gorgeous beach. Rooms are no frills with wood floors, balconies, and tube TVs. If style is important, its smaller sister hotel, the Sol Cala d'Or, offers similar apartment-style amenities with more character and fresher decor.

Hotel Apartamentos Ivory Playa
Carretera d'Artà, 113

The family-owned Ivory Playa is a three-and-a-half pearl, relatively small aparthotel that stands out for its immaculately clean interiors and comprehensive range of facilities. While a nearby supermarket is convenient and the lovely sandy beach is one block away, those looking for buzzy local nightlife might be disappointed. The 168 apartments are mostly one-bedroom, and all units come with cooking facilities, balconies, comfy beds, and free Wi-Fi (albeit spotty in areas); some premium units also feature coffee machines and sea views. Lovely gardens contain lagoon, training, and splash pools, while a free spa offers a lovely thermal pool with aqua-massage jets. Decent buffet and a la carte menus, plus kids' clubs, evening entertainment, and a cocktail bar add up to a fine package. For more outdoor space and direct beach access, check slightly higher rates at Hotel Playa Esperanza.

Club MAC Alcudia
Avenida Tucan S/N

The value-oriented Club MAC Alcudia is an all-inclusive, super child-friendly resort complex set on the edge of Majorca's tourist town of Port d'Alcudia. It has over a thousand rooms, and hordes of overexcited children can inevitably make this one raucous hotel. With so much to do, however -- including eight pools and free entry to the adjoining water park -- kids certainly won't be bored. Standard Rooms feel dated and have fees for Wi-Fi and most TV channels; upgrading to the renovated Premium Rooms, which have Wi-Fi and more channels included, is worth the extra outlay. The all-inclusive plan covers decent buffet fare and a good range of drinks (that some guests have been known to overindulge in). All in all, while this won't be the most relaxing break for grown-ups, it's without doubt the one the kids would pick given the choice; parents, however, are more likely to favor the also family-friendly Viva Tropic.

Hotel Roc Boccaccio
Av de Pedro Mas i Reus, 3

Hotel Boccaccio is a three-pearl, resort-style property set on Port d'Alcudia's lively "Dollar Street," just a two minutes' walk from its long sandy beach. Most of its 214 guest rooms looks dated and can feel cramped, though all are earmarked for a modern makeover by 2018. Its lakeside setting makes for some lovely views from the dining room and chill-out bar, though mosquitos have been known to bother some guests. A free kids' club keeps little ones entertained, while a chill-out bar and sun terrace provides space for relaxation. The Boccaccio also offers purely all-inclusive plans in summer months, though other plans are available during the rest of the year. Ultimately, however, the size of the rooms and swimming pool are a let-down; the nearby Alcudia Beach Aparthotel offers bigger options for both at similar value-oriented rates.

BQ Delfin Azul Hotel
C/ Sa Fotja 1

The mid-range BQ Delfin Azul Hotel is a straightforward, family-friendly chain hotel dating from the '70s and renovated in 2014 and 2015. The location on a main road in Port d'Alcudia's commercial neighborhood isn't ideal, though the long sandy beach is still well within walking distance. The majority of its bright, contemporary rooms open to balconies, and some even have sea views. The pool terrace is immaculate with a large pool and plenty to keep the kids happy, though spa and health facilities are conspicuously absent. All in all this is a decent package of good food, family fun, and simple, clean accommodation, though for a more impressive collection of pools check out the Viva Tropic, which is also nearer the beach.

Alcudia Beach Aparthotel
Avda. Nicolas Riera Marsa 6

The three-pearl Alcudia Beach Aparthotel is a middle-of-the-road, family-friendly complex located in the more residential district of Port d'Alcudia. While set away from the resort center, the long sandy beach is just five minutes away on foot, and there's plenty of nightlife within walking distance. The 130 apartments are basic and dated, though equipped with kitchenettes, flat-screen TVs, and spacious balconies. The sun terrace has two pools and plentiful loungers, making it big enough for everyone, though don't expect any poolside animation. An all-inclusive option also means this can be a great-value pick, though the equally budget-level Globales Condes de Alcudia nearby also provides a program of kid-focused activities.

Zafiro Palace Alcudia
C/ Cami Real al Moll, 2

The Zafiro Palace Alcudia is one of a relatively rare breed of high-end resorts that cater almost exclusively to families with kids. The location in the popular tourist town of Port d'Alcudia is decent enough, within easy reach of the resort center and wide, sweeping beach. But with so many pools, kids' clubs, and dining options, guests tend to spend most of their time within the confines of the sleek and contemporary all-suite complex. The 369 suites are spacious and chic, with large outdoor spaces, luxury bathrooms, and upscale amenities as standard. Spa facilities and an adults-only pool also mean downtime for the parents, and an all-inclusive option make for one less reason to leave the hotel. While not cheap, it is without doubt one of the finest of its ilk on the island. Couples, however, may wish to consider the adults-only Eix Alcudia Hotel directly overlooking the beach.
