Alcudia Garden Aparthotel
Avda de la Playa 1

The 276-room Alcudia Garden is a pleasant mid-range property, centered around attractive grounds set a short hop to Port d'Alcudia's huge sandy beach. All rooms are up-to-date, and have either balconies or small private gardens with loungers. Though there are three pools (two lagoon-style and one indoor), snagging a poolside lounger can be a challenge during peak season. Thanks to an a la carte Italian eatery, buffet restaurant, and wine bar, food and drink options are better than the norm, plus there are a sauna and gym on-site. While there are activities to keep kids busy, the upscale Viva Tropic and budget-friendly Club MAC provide more for the little ones.

Sol de Alcudia Apartments
Calle Tortora S/N

The Sol de Alcudia Apartments is a family-friendly, three-pearl apartment complex with a fun, contemporary vibe. It's located a short stroll from Port d'Alcudia's sandy bay and nightlife district. The 142 apartments are bright and modern with up to three bedrooms, plus kitchenettes and balconies. Some feature lake views, though others are prone to street noise. The pool terrace provides a lively, if sometimes overcrowded space with poolside activities, a snack bar, splash pool, and surprisingly good buffet restaurant. For a bigger pool terrace and more activities for the kids, the BQ Delfin Azul Hotel is a strong contender.

Hotel JS Sol de Alcudia
Avenida Venecia 3

The Hotel JS Sol de Alcudia is a three-and-a-half-pearl property located in the southern end of the popular resort of Port d'Alcudia. While mostly surrounded by other hotels, a short stroll takes guests to the start of a long sandy beach as well as plenty of nightlife. Thanks to a 2015/16 renovation, the hotel's 219 guest rooms are bright and contemporary, and all opening to balconies or terraces -- some with lake views. The pool area is a highlight, with comfy seating and a raised sun terrace with spa facilities, though dining can be a little hit and miss. All in all, its polished and pleasant, if a little generic and lacking in kid-friendly facilities. While good for couples, families will be likely better at the nearby Seaclub Mediterranean Resort with apartment accommodation, mini-club, and seven pools.

HSM President Golf & Spa
Cami d'Aucanada, 65

The 238-room, HSM President Golf & Spa is a '50s-era mid-range hotel set in a quiet neighborhood on the north end of Alcudia Bay. While much of the property, including the guest rooms, could use a modern makeover, the place is well-maintained and spotlessly clean. With three outdoor pools and a modern sea-view spa with indoor pool, leisure facilities impress, and a small sandy beach nearby is also popular with guests. A good share of the rooms also feature superb sea vistas, though in-room refreshment options to accompany them are certainly lacking. All in all, for a dated but peaceful hotel with an optional all-inclusive plan it's a solid choice; for cheerful and well-equipped apartments, however, check out nearby Ona Aucanada.

Aparthotel Ona Aucanada
Calle Mirador 5

Ona Aucanada is a pretty mid-range apartment-style complex with a quiet, Mediterranean village vibe set on a hillside overlooking Alcudia Bay. With its residential and steeply sloped surroundings, there's not much accessible on foot, though there is a small sandy bay 10 minutes' walk away and Alcudia's buzzing port is within a short drive. The 73 two- and three-bedroom units are clean and have full kitchens and outdoor spaces that mostly feature sea views. Facilities include three outdoor pools, a small spa, and Mediterranean restaurant. Outrageously, this hotel charges extra for breakfast buffet, pool towels, the in-room safe, Wi-Fi, electricity, and water. With no mini-market on-site and limited local dining, a car is certainly recommended for filling up the in-room refrigerators. Non-drivers might be better off at Alcudia Garden Hotel, which offers free Wi-Fi and modern apartments set right in the resort's center.

Zafiro Tropic
C/ Anselm Turmeda, 1

Zafiro Tropic is a four-pearl, family-friendly complex with a lively, fun atmosphere set two blocks from Port d'Alcudia's wide stretch of sandy beach. There are multiple pools, including a relaxed adult-only section and a small aquapark (although they are situated right next to each other). The 340 apartments cover a range of options from simple studios to grand duplexes with whirlpool tub sea-view terraces. Rates extend from room-only to an impressive all-inclusive plan. Wi-Fi is some of the fastest in town -- at least in the right place -- and a spa provides at least one oasis of calm. Total child-free peace and quiet can be found at the nearby Vanity Hotel Golf, or families seeking an even more full-on kid-focused experience can find it at the Club MAC.

Viva Sunrise
Avenida Mexico S/N

The three-and-a-half-pearl Viva Sunrise is a super family-friendly, resort-style hotel located in the touristy but laid-back neighborhood south of Port d'Alcudia. There's local nightlife within a short stroll, but the 10-minute walk to the beach is a drawback. The hotel's 260 apartments sleep between two and six, and are suitably modernized with kitchens and free Wi-Fi with a good signal; high-end units feature spacious whirlpool tub terraces. Kids are particularly well catered to, with a themed pool with slides and two mini-clubs, but grown-ups less so, with limited fitness and spa facilities, and no adults-only zones. Like most area properties, even the large swimming pool can feel crowded during high season. For a family-focused property with multiple pools and extensive gardens, the nearby Seaclub Mediterranean Resort is worth considering.

Vanity Hotel Golf
Ctra. Arta 13

The Vanity Hotel Golf hotel is an upscale, adult-only property set in the popular resort area of Port d'Alcudia, overlooking its sweeping sandy bay. Its 117 rooms are spacious and smart, with luxury touches such as espresso machines and pillow menus; nearly all extend to balconies with at least partial sea views. Superb rooftop panoramic terraces with whirlpool tubs feature in the duplex suites. Breakfast is a highlight and free Cava at the swish bar is a popular perk; the abundance of loungers and daybeds is also appreciated by guests. The ambience might feel a little too "grown-up" for younger adults, however, who might be more at home at the more stylish and sexy (and also child-free) Hotel Astoria Playa -- though it's a walk to the beach.

Hotel Astoria Playa Only Adults
Carrer Astoria S/n

For a stylish, adults-only retreat in a lively part of Majorca, the 210-room Hotel Astoria Playa is a fine choice. Its two fantastic pools, plentiful loungers, relaxed but festive atmosphere, and friendly, family-run service, all contribute to its appeal. Though a 10-minute walk from the beach, it's surrounded by loads of local bars, restaurants, and terraces, and offers its own nightly entertainment as well. Rooms are basic and slightly underwhelming for a four-pearl, but the whirlpools in the Suites make them worth the upgrade. For a spot slightly closer to the sand, the nearby adults-only Eix Alcudia Hotel is also worth considering.

Apartamentos Siesta I
Avinguda Pere Mas I Reus 23

Apartamentos Siesta I is a three-pearl, 300-apartment complex located on the edge of the buzzy Majorcan resort of Port d'Alcudia. While the immediate surrounds are fairly quiet, the hotel is situated at the end of one of the livelier nightlife strips. The 166 rentable apartments are privately owned, though most have been modernized and come with kitchenettes, lounge areas, and pool- or street-view balconies or terraces -- a few even feature partial sea views. The vibe is laid-back and friendly, with a large and lively pool area, lots for the kids, and a quieter relaxation garden. Spa and fitness facilities are lacking and its a 15-minute walk to the beach, though otherwise a great pick for families on a budget. Another kid-friendly, though less laid-back option nearby is the all-inclusive Club Mac with free access to a neighboring water park.
