Mambukal Hot Spring Resort is a government-operated budget hotel that belongs to the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental and is set about a 45-minute drive from Bacolod City. Situated on lush, sprawling grounds at the foot of Mount Kanlaon, the lovely jungle setting includes hot springs, streams, and seven waterfalls. The main attraction here are the hot springs, which have been drawing visitors ever since the resort’s Ishiwata Bath House opened in 1927. There are also two swimming pools and a handful of activities like a zipline and climbing wall. Other features include a simple food court and even a butterfly sanctuary. Mambukal Resort villas and cottages are basic and don’t offer much in terms of amenities; they’re rustic, tired, and due for some renovations – as is the entire property. Hannah’s Beach Resort and Convention Center is a budget oceanfront property in Pagudpud that’s a good choice for families with kids or groups. Set on sprawling beach grounds, this resort has a lovely stretch of beach with lots of water sports and a zipline, as well as five outdoor pools dotted around the grounds. The resort could use some revamps and shows its age a bit; some guests also complain about cleanliness issues in the rooms. Rooms are small and homey, equipped with air-conditioning and flat-screen TVs, but there’s no Wi-Fi. Other features include a restaurant and bar, kids’ play areas, and a large convention center that caters to various functions. For an alternative, the nearby Casa Consuelo is a good choice for those wanting something quieter.
