Globales Palmanova
Calle Miquel Dels Sants Oliver 13

The 214-room Globales Palmanova is a three-and-a-half-pearl family-friendly hotel located in the quiet Palmanova area, with beaches, restaurants, and bars just a short stroll away. The hotel is modern, though surprisingly high fees for safes and Wi-Fi, as well as lackluster drink options, are a let down. Fresh rooms feature flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, mini-fridges, and private terraces. A buffet restaurant that serves standard British fare, and there's a popular pizza spot plus a poolside snack bar. All-inclusive and half-board rates are available. Leisure facilities are limited to a large pool, a kids' pool, and playground, and entertainment programs are offered day and night. Rates are reasonable for the area, but visitors wanting more scenic views and direct beach access might try Ponent Mar instead, though rates are higher.

Sol Lunamar Apartments
Avenida Cas Saboners 8

Sol Lunamar Apartments is currently undergoing renovations through April 30th, 2020. The mid-range Sol Lunamar Apartments is open to guests 16 years and over, and located within a short stroll of Palmanova's sandy Son Matias beach. There are 143 studio apartments, all with decent cooking facilities and balconies -- some with glimpses of the sea. Note, however, that beds are actually sofa beds and they're on the firm side. Dining options are limited, as there's no full restaurant, though the snack bar is open until late and there are ample nearby eateries. The C-shaped pool lacks the usual poolside activities, but this makes for a quieter and more grown-up atmosphere. A game room and spotty Wi-Fi are the only other features, as there are no spa or gym. Couples seeking a more resort-style stay may prefer the beachfront Sol Beach House Mallorca, which has a restaurant and wellness center.

Globales Palmanova Palace
Calle Miguel De Los Santos Oliver, 15

Globales Palmanova Palace is a mid-range, adult-only hotel located in a quieter part of the popular resort of Palmanova. While little in the immediate area, beaches and dining are just a short stroll away. The 193 basic rooms have mini-fridges, marble bathrooms, and balconies (a few with partial sea views). Some guests, however, have complained of thin walls between rooms. Dining is good on the whole with half-board included as standard, but leisure facilities are limited to a tiny pool -- the terrace is also prone to shade. The nearby Sol Lunamar Apartments doesn't have this problem and is also an adult-only hotel, though with limited dining on-site.

Hotel Agua Beach
Paseo Mar 24

Hotel Agua Beach is an adult-only property with a prime beachfront location in the popular Majorcan resort of Palmanova. A 2014 renovation spruced up most of the upper-middle-range property, including the 137 bright, modern guest rooms, half of which also feature sea views. Superb panoramas can also be found on the rooftop terrace which has a whirlpool tub, though the hotel's ground floor pool is small and prone to shade. A breakfast buffet with hot items is included in the room rate and there's an alfresco bar for tapas. Sol Lunamar Apartments feature a sunnier pool, plus cooking facilities, though it's set a few minutes back from the beach.

Hotel Son Caliu Spa Oasis
Avenida Caliu 8, Son Caliu

A major makeover completed in 2016 updated the Hotel Son Caliu Spa Oasis with a swish and modern finish fitting to its upscale status. Set in a quiet neighborhood but within walking distance of Palmanova resort's dining and nightlife, the location is the best of both worlds. Spa facilities among the area's top-notch, while quality dining includes buffet and a la carte options accompanied by sea views. Many of its 223 units offer sea vistas, some from private plunge pool terraces, though entry-level guest roms can feel a little cramped and lack hot drink facilities. Direct beach access, an exclusive pool lounge, and attractive gardens add up to an impressive, if a little pricey, package. A slightly cheaper alternative with sweeping sea views and summer kids' club is nearby Ponent Mar, though there's no spa.

Cabau Aquasol
Calle Pinzons 61

Cabau Aquasol is a 132-room budget apartment complex located in the resort town of Palmanova, within strolling distance of its sandy beaches and seafront promenade. Apartment units are reasonably modern (aside from the patterned bedspreads and curtains), well-equipped for cooking, and can sleep up to eight, making them popular with groups (some of which can be noisy). The hotel is also very family-friendly, with a supervised kids' club, daytime pool parties, and a poolside animation program. A restaurant and pool bar provide buffet and a la carte eating options, though drinks can be pricey. Overall, though, the complex offers good value lodgings with just enough resort-style facilities. Those hoping for an apartment with a sea views should consider Globales Nova Apartments, which is also nearer to the beach.

Alua Sun Torrenova
Avenida Torrenova 6

The Alua Sun Torrenova certainly doesn't break the mold when it comes to '70s-era, value-oriented, resort hotels. Its 254 guest rooms all open to balconies; upgraded rooms featuring sea views, though some are more peek-a-boo than full-frontal. The hotel is also within easy walking distance of two stretches of sandy beach, as well as Magaluf's wild nightlife. While there's a good collection of pools for all ages, an early-morning scrum for poolside loungers is not uncommon and overcrowding can be an issue at peak season. There is plenty for the kids to do as well as an all-inclusive option, so it's not surprising this hotel is a popular pick with families. The nearby Viva Torrenova has all the same facilities, just done a little better -- though with no sea views and slightly pricier rates.

FERGUS Style Tobago
Carrer Martín Ros García, 1

Fergus Tobago is an all-inclusive, resort-style chain hotel that offers the basics for value-oriented vacationers. The two-and-a-half-pearl property is about a one-minute walk to Son Matias Beach and slightly removed from the wild partying of Magaluf, although the hotel does attract some young "livelier" guests. The 274 guest rooms are in urgent need of an update, though they're functional, tidy, and generally well-maintained, and all have balconies with sea views. In-room amenities are slim, and many units have old-style tube TVs. Buffet dining is surprisingly decent, and the pool terrace provides some afternoon sunbathing and a splash pool for kids. Ultimately, however, the property's biggest asset is its cheap rates. Families looking for accommodations with a kids' club can consider Cabau Aquasol.

Globales Mimosa
Avenida Cas Saboners 28

The Globales Mimosa Hotel is a pretty run-of-the-mill budget resort that most would agree is due for a complete makeover. The location could be better too; it is set away -- though still within walking distance -- from Palmanova's beach and most of its nightlife. Its 287 guest rooms are clean and well-maintained, though both decor and amenities are basic and dated; some higher-level rooms are treated to sea views. The quality of food is actually rather good for buffet dining, and tireless staff keep things lively with activities and shows through day and evening. Low rates do reflect the hotel's shortcomings. For a little more money, the Aparthotel Aquasol around the corner offers a better overall package and is nearer the beach.

Alua Hawaii Mallorca & Suites
Calle Torrenova 1

With just shy of 300 guest rooms and apartments -- many with superb sea views -- the Intertur Hotel Hawaii Mallorca & Suites is a popular three-and-a-half-pearl all-inclusive hotel with broad appeal. The hotel overlooks the south end of Palmanova Bay, and is a five-minute walk from San Matias Beach. A 2012 renovation has given the interiors a fresh veneer, and two pools, plenty of child-friendly facilities, and an adult-only terrace keeps most guests happy. A shortage of loungers can be an issue, and Wi-Fi can be temperamental, though overall this is one of the better properties that we've seen in the area. Travelers seeking extras like an indoor pool and spa should consider the nearby Santa Lucia Hotel, which is right on the beach.
