FERGUS Bermudas
Carrer Pinzons 20

The upper-middle-range Hotel Fergus Bermudas is an updated, resort-style hotel that attracts a wide spectrum of guests from families to vacationing groups who are here for the pool and beach access. While the hotel doesn't overlook the sea, it's just around the corner from one of Palmanova's sandy beaches and a short stroll from bars and restaurants. The 116 guest rooms are clean and contemporary, with modern bathrooms and balconies or terraces, though none have sea views, and both Wi-Fi and use of the safe incur fees. The pool gets plenty of sun, though it is on the small side. All-inclusive rates are available and there's an in-house entertainment team. For a larger pool and guaranteed sea views, the Intertur Hotel Hawaii Mallorca is a better, if slightly pricier, option.

OLA Hotel Panama - Adults Only
Calle Paris 4

The Ola Hotel Panama is a three-pearl property located in the middle of the popular Palmanova resort, and within walking distance from one of its sandy beaches. While short on fitness and dining options, renovations completed in 2017 have seriously spruced up the resort-style hotel throughout. Its 192 contemporary guest rooms have flat-screen TVs and mini-fridges, but AC isn't turned on 24 hours and there's a fee for Wi-Fi. There's no a la carte restaurant, but half-board is standard and there's an optional all-inclusive plan, and buffet meals are a cut above most at this level. Poolside loungers are plentiful and a kids' club a bonus for families. Overall, it's a tidy package that's likely to appeal to most, except those looking for a buzzy, party hotel. Visitors after sea-view balconies are likely to be disappointed and might prefer the nearby Santa Lucia Hotel, where they're guaranteed.

Sol Palmanova by Melia - All Inclusive
Pinzones, s/n

Originally two separate properties, the 653-room, three-pearl Sol Palmanova is certainly one of the larger hotels on the island. Facilities are fittingly extensive and include two restaurants, three bars, and four pools -- two of which have waterslides for children; there are also a kids' club and dining area for little ones. Refitted in 2015, guest rooms have been brought into the 21st century with updated amenities, decor, and bathrooms, and some higher up even feature sea views. An all-inclusive property, the repetitive buffet dining has received mediocre reviews. Also, the sheer size of the property means it can feel overcrowded at peak times. The much smaller Viva Palmanova is also family-friendly, featuring apartment-style rooms and an optional all-inclusive plan.

Hotel Gabarda & Gil
Calle Roses Bermejo 26

Hotel Gabarda is a family-run, budget property set in the quieter fringes of the popular package-vacation town of Palmanova. While the immediate surroundings are short on charm, there's a lovely sandy beach and upbeat nightlife just a short stroll away. Most of its 59 guests rooms have been updated and are clean and modern with 32-inch TVs and mini-fridges, though not all have air-conditioning. Superior Rooms feature spacious balconies, though these are on the fourth floor and there are no elevators. Breakfast is filling and cheap, while a small pool terrace is good for sunbathing and cooling off. Friendly and welcoming staff are the hotel's main asset, though price-conscious families with kids will be better off at the Cabau Aquasol apartment complex.

FERGUS Style Palmanova
Passeig del Mar 14

The Fergus Style Palmanova is an upscale, adults-only hotel with a stylish boutique vibe and breezy beach house theme. It scores high for location, set at the more peaceful end of Palmanova just steps from one of its pretty sandy beaches. This means superb sea views from most of its 93 guest rooms, with some offering deluxe terraces with whirlpool tubs, and others direct access to one of three pools. A chic sun terrace surrounds the two others, plus there's a poolside bar, daybeds, and views out to sea. Breakfast is included in the rate and is also a highlight, offering both chilled Cava and detox smoothies, and there's a small spa, but the hotel lacks a fitness center. While it's certainly one of the standout adults-only hotels, strong competition comes from Sol Beach House -- also kid-free but with larger indoor and outdoor pools.

Hotel Seramar Comodoro Playa
Carrer Cala Blanca, 9

At just 88 rooms, the Hotel Comodoro is a relatively small, three-pearl property overlooking Palmanova Bay's sandy Son Matias beach. A five- to 10-minute walk from Magaluf's wild nightlife, it's removed enough from the scene to stay thankfully quiet. Renovations in 2016 have updated most of the interiors as well as adding a swish beach club-style sun terrace, though there's a fee to use it (as well as in-room Wi-Fi). The revamp also extended to the rooms, which all feature superb sea-view balconies, flat-screen TVs, and air-conditioning. Overall, it's a good pick for both couples who fancy some peace as well as younger groups who want to be near the action. Families, however, should look elsewhere -- the Viva Palmanova just up the road is one of the better options.

Zafiro Palmanova
Avda Cas Saboners Sn

The 198-room Viva Palmanova is an upscale, family-focused resort hotel located in the popular Palmanova district of Majorca, just a few minutes' walk from the beach. The hotel features an impressive number of pools, ranging from water park splash pools to adult-only surrounded by double daybeds. Children are particularly well-catered for, though decent spa facilities also allow parents some decent downtime. Optional all-inclusive plan is one of the better around and food is generally excellent. Updated, attractive apartments also impress with quality cooking facilities, free Wi-Fi, and flat-screen TVs, plus private hot tubs in higher-end units -- though those expecting sea views will be disappointed. For panoramic sea vistas from all rooms check out the nearby Hotel Comodoro, though there's much less for the little ones.

Globales Santa Lucia
Calle de Duc Estremera 6

Set on the rocky promontory that separates two of Palmanova's sandy beaches, the Santa Lucia Hotel certainly features an impressive setting. Each of its 332 guest rooms takes advantage of the views with gorgeous sea vistas from balconies. Superior Rooms have been updated with fresh modern decor and added extras, but cheaper Standard Rooms still look rather dated and have limited amenities. The small pool area provides Son Matias Beach views and a second sun terrace to deal with any overspill. Optional all-inclusive buffet food is typical of a mid-range resort hotel -- adequate though unexciting -- and there's little in the way of kid-friendly facilities. Those with little ones in tow might find the apartments and kids' club at Viva Palmanova to be a better fit.

Globales Apartamentos Nova
Avenida Cas Saboners 6

Set in nicely landscaped grounds, Globales Nova Apartments has some of the lusher surrounds in Palmanova. While the gardens could even be described as secluded, the town's sandy beaches are less than a five-minute walk away. Magaluf nightlife will take about 10 to 15 minutes to reach on foot. The 135 apartments are a little dated, though clean and pleasant, with kitchenettes and balconies -- some even have sea views. A choice of indoor and outdoor pools is a treat and food from the poolside bar-restaurant is pretty good. All in all it stands out as a solid bet for the mid-range category. Alternatively, the nearby Sol Lunamar Apartments has a similar list of features and a no-kids policy that pleases its guests.

Sol Beach House Mallorca
Duque de Estremera 16

The adult-only Sol Beach House Mallorca is an upscale property with a prime position overlooking the middle of Palmanova's three sandy beaches. Relaunched in 2016 with renovations continuing into early 2017, the design has gone distinctly beach house, with a relaxed and friendly ambience to match. The 180 guest rooms are bright, colorful, and spacious, outfitted with flat-screen TVs, minibars, and furnished balconies -- most enjoying lovely views over the sea, though those facing the road can be prone to noise. The all-day restaurant serves an impressive free breakfast, and there are also a spa, indoor pool, and gym. Afternoon shade is the issue at the outdoor pool, though direct access to the beach does offset this problem to an extent. The pool at the nearby adult-oriented Hotel Comodoro doesn't have this issue, also offers sea views, and has an optional all-inclusive plan.
