Parker Palm Springs
4200 E Palm Canyon Dr

With its Jonathan Adler-designed interiors and gorgeous grounds, the Parker Palm Springs is about as hip and stylish as a hotel can get. The 144-room upscale property offers a host of cool features, including two outdoor pools and an indoor pool, a croquet lawn, petanque courts, clay tennis courts, and a full-service spa. Its dining options include a breakfast-all-day diner, a clubby dinner-only steakhouse, and two bars with light bites, but they’re all pricey. Rooms, suites, and villas are spacious and chic, and many have extras like patios, wet bars, and sitting areas or separate living rooms. There’s a mandatory resort fee and rates are high for this category; Riviera Palm Spring Resort or Two Bunch Palms are more affordable alternatives, though neither one has Parker's degree of hyper-curated stylishness.

The Riviera Palm Springs, A Tribute Portfolio Resort
1600 North Indian Canyon Drive

This upscale 398-room hotel pays homage to its roots as a celebrity playground in the sixties. It attracts the under-thirty set with nonstop party action at the Bikini Pool and Bar. The puzzle-piece-shaped pool is lined with cabanas and lounge beds perfect for posing or people watching. Music, both live and from a DJ, gets the whole place rocking. In the lobby, mirrored brick walls separate seating areas into small, intimate spaces. The swanky Starlite Lounge (weekends only) features small bites, classic cocktails, and live entertainment. Circa 59 serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner against a dramatic red, black, and white color scheme.

ARRIVE Palm Springs
1551 N Palm Canyon Dr

Opened in 2016, ARRIVE was seemingly built with the influx of Coachella fans in mind. And that's not a bad thing, especially if you're over 21 and want to have a good time by the outdoor pool with weekend DJ sets. That's not to say this is a party hotel, but it does offer quite a bit of icing on the Millennial cake: free Linus bikes to borrow, yoga twice monthly by the pool, free pool cabanas, and staff available 24/7 via text message. The design is beautifully done with butterfly roofs and clerestory windows, plus there's a rad street art-style mural by the front entrance. Wexler's Deli, a full coffee shop, and a gourmet ice cream store/boutique hybrid are also on offer. The 32 rooms are identically decorated and come standard with marble bathrooms and Apple TVs. For something almost as hip, but at a lower rate, check out Infusion Beach Club.

Delos Reyes Palm Springs
1277 S Palm Canyon Dr

The Delos Reyes Palms Springs is a former budget hotel that's making major renovations and reforms to attract a hip clientele. As of our visit in 2019, most of the 65 rooms were renovated to feature laminate floors and contemporary furnishings, but for travelers who want a deal -- there are still un-renovated rooms available. Rooms are centered around an outdoor pool and whirlpool. Apart from free parking and coffee and a gift shop in the lobby, there are no other features here. Some parts still look dated, but hanging chairs and succulents in the lobby look fresh. The immediate neighborhood has pretty mountain views and is a five-minute drive to downtown Palm Springs. For something completely renovated and with more of a hip scene, rates are similar at Infusion Beach Club Hotel

La Maison Hotel
1600 E Palm Canyon Dr

This quaint 13-room hotel located in downtown Palm Springs is the size of a motel, with the stylings of a hotel, and the service of a bed and breakfast. It's one of the best values in Palm Springs, offering guests personalized attention from the owners, a location just blocks from the main drag, and charming Mediterranean style throughout. It's also one of the most popular hotels in Palm Springs, and its small size can mean that it's hard to get a room. There are few property features (no fitness center or restaurant) but plenty of freebies extras, including a free espresso bar, free beer and wine in the evening, and free continental breakfast (with homemade scones daily).

Palm Canyon Resort & Spa
2800 S Palm Canyon Dr

Doubling as a time-share property, the Palm Canyon Resort and Spa has more amenities than guests might expect for a hotel in this price range. The big rooms have full kitchens and nice balconies but furniture is dated and some carpets are stained. The huge swimming pool and sun deck covers an acre and a half of the grounds, all centered around waterfalls and water slides. The hotel is geared towards families with kids and those looking for affordable rates where they can let the little ones run wild at the pool. Couples looking for a quiet getaway and anyone without kids, should look at the numerous other resorts in Palm Springs.

V Palm Springs
333 E Palm Canyon Dr

Conveniently located in South Palm Springs, just a three-minute drive from the city center, this former budget motel began welcoming guests in 2016 after a major makeover turned it into a three-pearl property with hipster aspirations. The lobby now boasts a minimalist look with a southwestern twist; ditto for the 140 rooms, which come with mini-fridges, flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi and, in many cases, balconies or patios (though most are missing coffeemakers). There’s also a spacious pool with the requisite loungers, daybeds, and poolside bar/eatery, as well as a hot tub, fire pit, and small fitness room. However, the overall style borders on sterile, the pool can get noisy, and the features don't justify the property's resort fee. The nearby Ace Hotel, which is aimed at the same millennial market, offers a more established upper-middle-range alternative.

Desert Riviera Hotel
610 E Palm Canyon Dr

The affordable rates, array of features (for its size), and attentive staff providing free extras make this renovated 1950s motel a great value. Most rooms are large and all have been restored with cool, retro-inspired details. With several small communal spaces on the grounds, the hotel's layout encourages socializing (a pro for some and con for others), but staff take the property's noise policy seriously, so "quiet and relaxed" is the default atmosphere. In fact, children under 17 are not allowed. Those looking for the boutique vintage vibe, but wanting a few more amenities, could try the Palm Springs Rendezvous, which also has a slightly more flexible children's policy.

Palm Springs Rendezvous
1420 N Indian Canyon Dr

The 10-room Palm Springs Rendezvous is great for guests looking for character and affordability in their Palm Springs hotel. It's part bed and breakfast, and part 1950s roadside motel, but with up-to-date amenities. The small staff does its best to make guests feel at home really delivers on the details. Those who want to explore the area, or who are just looking for a place with personality away from the resort crowds, will appreciate many of the perks here.

Andreas Hotel & Spa
227 N Indian Canyon Dr

The 25-room mid-range boutique Andreas Hotel & Spa is located in historic downtown Palm Springs, with dining, entertainment, and casinos within walking distance. The landmark hotel is simple but nonetheless has a refined vibe, and the celebrity-themed suites up the glamour quotient. Decor in rooms and common areas recalls the hotel's beginnings in 1935, with warm, cozy Spanish Revival and Craftsman-style design. The 24-hour pool and outdoor fireplaces give the Andreas a secluded old Hollywood hideaway atmosphere that is at the same time both fun and restful.
