Lotus Boutique Inn & Suites
505 S Atlantic Ave

Housed in a renovated 1960s building right on the beach, Lotus Boutique Inn & Suites is a modern, stylish budget property with a nice pool area and a fire pit facing the ocean. The 42 rooms have trendy decor, and those facing the beach have small balconies. The free continental breakfast is a bit limited, and the small parking lot next to the hotel fills up quickly, but  additional parking is available across the street. Be aware that more than two guests in a room entails an additional fee. Travelers might also want to consider the Oceanfront Inn, which has less style but similar rates.

OceanFront Inn and Suites
599 S Atlantic Ave

This small, retro budget hotel, renovated in 2012, offers inexpensive beachfront accommodations, and is a short drive to the attractions of Daytona Beach. The 39 homey rooms have lovely wooden furniture and kitchenettes, and those facing the ocean have balconies. Breakfast is free but limited, consisting of packaged pastries and coffee, and parking is a tight fit -- the hotel allows only one car per room in the adjoining lot. But overall, the OceanFront Inn is a good budget choice for a beach vacation. Travelers might also want to check out the more stylish Lotus Boutique Inn & Suites, which has similar rates.

Royal Floridian Resort
51 S Atlantic Ave

This large, mid-range beachfront resort has 168 condo-style rooms with full kitchens over two towers. It operates as a timeshare, but guests shouldn’t be bothered once they decline the sales pitch offer. The resort is filled with family-friendly amenities, including a massive pool overlooking the ocean, a mini-golf course, basketball and shuffleboard courts, and organized activities nearly every day. It’s a good choice for an inexpensive family vacation and large groups in Ormond Beach. However, the property and its lower-tier rooms have bland, dated decor, and guests complain of minor maintenance issues and lack of space in some units and their closets; parking fills up quickly and exterior construction is ongoing as of fall 2015. The mid-range Cove on Ormond Beach also offers apartments with kitchenettes, and while significantly more expensive, it has fresher decor and a pool with a waterslide.

The Cove on Ormond Beach
145 S Atlantic Ave

The 112-room, mid-range Cove on Ormond Beach is a family-friendly beachside condo resort offering Studio, One-, and Two-Bedroom Apartments within 10 minutes' drive of Daytona Beach. Units are spacious, clean, and well-supplied, with full-size kitchens, flat-screen TVs, and private balconies. The Cove has a private beach and indoor and outdoor pools. The guest lounge with TV and card tables, as well as the organized barbecues, are nice features for families. There is no on-site restaurant, but there are a variety of nearby food options.
