Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort
Kawasan Pariwisata, ITDC Lot N5

This 451-room luxury resort is located in upmarket Nusa Dua, on Bali's south coast. The modern property has vast landscaped gardens, an outdoor pool with a swim-up bar, and a lagoon pool that curves throughout the property. Popular with families and couples, the Sofitel has a sandy beach and five excellent restaurants and bars serving international cuisines and generous buffets. There's also a spa, fitness center, children's pool, and Kids' Club. Spacious, contemporary rooms include minibars, flat-screen TVs, and deep-soaking tubs as standard. Furnished balconies and terraces have lovely pool or ocean views, some with direct pool access. Higher grade rooms add butler service and private pools. Couples looking for a quiet atmosphere might prefer The Bale, an adult-only hotel with boutique appeal that adds free breakfast.

Novotel Bali Nusa Dua Hotel & Residences
Jl. Pantai Mengiat, ITDC Complex

The Novotel Nusa Dua Hotel & Residences is an upscale, family-friendly resort with a beautiful bi-level pool surrounded by lush tropical gardens. The 173 rooms here were renovated in 2015-16 and come in a variety of layouts, including suites with multiple bedrooms and kitchenettes. While it is not directly on the beach, there's free shuttle service to a lovely stretch of sand a three-minute drive away, complete with a bar serving snacks and cocktails. Varied international buffets are also offered, but food gets mixed reviews. Body treatments and salon services are available at the spa, along with a kids’ menu and well-equipped gym. The kids’ club offers an array of fun activities, and there is a daily program for adults as well. Travelers looking to be right on the beach may want to consider the similarly priced Novotel Bali Benoa.

Ayodya Resort Bali
Jalan Pantai Mengiat, PO Box 46

Formerly the Bali Hilton, the 541-room Ayodya Resort Bali is a sprawling, upscale beachside property with an enormous spa, a fitness center, a colorful kids' club with a big playground, and lagoon-style and infinity pools. Extensive meeting facilities also make the Ayodya Resort an obvious venue for conferences and events, and there are plenty of restaurants with cuisine ranging from Italian pastas to Japanese teppanyaki. Most rooms have attractive Balinese decor and marble bathrooms are lovely, though some furniture looks a touch dated -- still, they're a great value for this caliber. While the beachside location makes the Ayodya Resort a popular choice, just note that there's little within walking distance.

Hilton Bali Resort
Jl. Raya Nusa Dua Selatan

Hilton Bali Resort is a luxury property with a scenic clifftop location overlooking the sea in the sought-after Nusa Dua resort zone. Formerly the Grand Nikko Bali, the resort rebranded and reopened in December 2016, making it the third Hilton property in Bali. Among the high-end features here are a private beach with water sports, tennis courts, a full-service spa, an excellent kids' club, several restaurants, and a huge swimming pool complex with sea-facing lagoon. The 408 spacious rooms have marble bathrooms with deep-soaking tubs, as well as balconies or terraces, some with sea views. Villas offer an especially opulent experience complete with butler service and access to an exclusive villa lounge with numerous perks. Upgrades, however, are ongoing. For the ultimate luxury resort experience in Nusa Dua -- and prices to match -- the nearby St. Regis could be a fit.

The St. Regis Bali Resort
Kawasan Pariwisata, Nusa Dua, Lot S6

One of the best resorts in Nusa Dua, The St. Regis Bali Resort is a luxury property with a lot to love. The classically elegant atmosphere is set by a style that blends Old World and contemporary accents, while luxe amenities include private butler service and a private beach with water sports. The children's education center and a lovely spa make this property as pleasurable for kids as it is for their parents, and dining and drinking are all top notch. The 123 spacious suites and villas include marble bathrooms, plush beds, large flat-screen TVs, and balconies -- some even have private pools and ocean views. Couples and adult guests seeking similar features in a more secluded, intimate setting could also check out The Bale.

The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali
BTDC Lot N-3, Kawasan Pariwisata

The Westin Nusa Dua Resort is an upscale seafront resort in central Nusa Dua, across the street from the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center. While not quite as luxurious as some of its neighbors, the Westin has enough style and features -- plus direct access to the beach -- to make it a popular choice. The 433 spacious rooms have sharp modern decor, flat-screen TVs, and balconies with views of the ocean, gardens, or pool. Features include a saltwater pool surrounded by tropical gardens, tennis courts, a full-service spa with shiatsu room, a kids' club and Teens Zone, and several restaurants and bars. About 10 minutes away, the Ayodya Resort Bali has similar features and free breakfast, though its ambience and decor are not as nice as The Westin's.

Amaroossa Suite Bali
Jl. Kebo Iwa no. 2, Taman Mumbul

Amaroossa Suite Bali is a four-pearl boutique hotel located in a quiet, residential area near Nusa Dua, about a 15-minute drive to Kuta Beach and the airport. There are 60 rooms, 10 of which are Pool Suites with private plunge pools; two-bedroom Family Suites and units with small kitchens are also available. The hotel has a gorgeous swimming pool and whirlpool pool surrounded by tropical greenery, a restaurant, a bar, and meeting rooms. Travelers might want to check rates at the Ayodya Resort Bali, another four-pearl property in the same general area, which is closer to the beach and has a fitness center.

Club Med Bali
Holiday Villages, Lot 6

The 393-room Club Med Bali is an enormous, upscale all-inclusive chain resort. Rooms and suites are small and nothing spectacular, though they do have large marble bathrooms and most have balconies. It's the multitude of activities -- for all ages -- that attract visitors to this beachside resort. Along with multiple pools and sports courts, there are golf classes and water sports, even trapeze lessons. Families make up the majority of guests here, and there are activity clubs for babies, children, and teens. For adults, there's an excellent spa with its own pool and a couple of bars (though certain premium liquors and wines aren't included in the room rates). But couples without kids might feel out of place -- they might want to check out the Ayodya Resort Bali instead, though it's not all-inclusive.

INAYA Putri Bali Resort
Kawasan Wisata Nusa Dua Lot S-3, Indonesia Trade Development Center - ITDC

The 460-room INAYA Putri Bali Resort is a huge luxury property situated on a nice sandy beach in Nusa Dua. It's big in every way, and incorporates traditional Balinese design on all fronts, but with a contemporary twist. Rooms, suites, and villas are all spacious and sharp, and features include flat-screen TVs and minibars -- some have direct access to the pool. Villas also have private plunge pools, and some have views of the ocean. Three restaurants and two bars keep guests well fed, and there are plenty of activities to work off calories. There's also a three-level pool and a spa providing relaxing treatments. Travelers without children may want to consider the more intimate, adult-only Kayumanis Nusa Dua Private Villa & Spa, where the 20 villas all have private pools.

Mercure Bali Nusa Dua
Jl. Nusa Dua Selatan, Lot SW 03

This mid-sized, upper-middle-range hotel in Nusa Dua is a well-maintained property with extensive facilities without the luxury resort feel or high prices of other hotels in this posh area. Although it's removed from the beach, guests get free access to the nearby Mercure Beach Club, with lounge chairs, thatched huts, and free towel service. A free shuttle runs from the hotel to the beach. More functional and modern than traditional or romantic, the smallish rooms all come with extras such as free bottled water and mini-fridges. There's also a fitness center and a bi-level pool with cabanas and lounge chairs. Guests can order room service or dine in at the 24-hour Soka Restaurant, but should budget extra for breakfast, as it's not included in room rates.
