Hotel Suisse Nice
15 quai Rauba Capeu, Promenade des Anglais

The 38-room Hotel Suisse on the French Riviera in Nice, France, has one of the best views in the city from its seaside-facing rooms. The upper-mid-range hotel is also located close to Nice's major attractions, such as the Promenade des Anglais and Vieux Nice (the old town). It's a 15-minute drive to the Nice Côte d'Azur Airport and guests can take buses or trains to Monaco (approximately 45 minutes). For a similar old-style hotel steps from the beach but with much more glamour and a slightly higher price point, try the Hotel Negresco.

Boscolo Exedra Nice, Autograph Collection
12 Boulevard Victor Hugo

The 113-room Boscolo Exedra Nice is an upper-middle-range boutique located a 10-minute walk from the beach. This chic property offers cutting-edge design, upscale rooms, a stylish restaurant, full-service spa, and indoor pool. There is a cocktail lounge with cool design and a pretty outdoor terrace with lots of umbrellas covering tables and chairs. While not quite as luxurious as top Nice hotels like the Negresco or Palais de la Méditérannée, this hotel does offer a high-end experience with lots of pampering, at cheaper rates than similar hotels closer to the beach and promenade. Wi-Fi is free, but there is a fee for the breakfast buffet and parking.

Hotel Villa Les Cygnes
6 avenue Chateau de la Tour

The six-room, reasonably priced boutique Hotel Villa Les Cygnes in the beachfront city of Nice feels more like a cozy bed-and-breakfast than a traditional hotel. Located on a leafy hill on the western side of the city, and housed in a 19th-century villa, the hotel offers an oasis of peace and quiet in the bustling city, yet is still walkable the beach and the city center. Most rooms have private balconies or terraces, and the hotel also offers free parking, a rarity in Nice. The Villa Les Cygnes is a 10-minute drive from the Nice Airport and a five-minute walk to the beach.

Hotel La Perouse
11 quai Rauba-Capeu

One of Nice's better small hotels, the six-floor La Perouse is located at the eastern end of the Promenade des Anglais. It’s a bit quieter than hotels farther west while still offering close proximity to Old Town. Unlike the neighboring Hotel Suisse, La Perouse features many property amenities, including a hot tub and seasonal swimming pool along with panoramic views of the Bay of Angels. All in all, the hotel is suitable for those who want an upper-mid-range stay with on-site dining at rates more affordable than the luxurious Le Negresco or Palais de la Mediterannee, but watch out for extra charges for breakfast, parking, and fast Wi-Fi.

Westminster Hotel & Spa, BW Premier Collection
27 Promenade des Anglais

One of the most famous hotels in Nice, the five-floor Westminster Hotel & Spa is a genuine piece of French Riviera history. Built in 1878 by the ancestors of the current owners, the hotel is a restored Belle Epoque-era gem situated right on the vibrant Promenade des Anglais, overlooking the Mediterranean. While it doesn't boast the sheer luxury and Michelin-rated dining of the Hotel Negresco or the pool and other recreational facilities of the Hyatt Regency Nice Palais de la Mediterannee, the three-and-a-half pearl Westminster offers more affordable rates in addition to a private beach area, lavishly decorated public spaces, contemporary rooms, and a restaurant and bar with a sea-facing terrace.

Mercure Nice Promenade des Anglais
2 rue Halevy

The sleek and modern 124-room Mercure Nice Promenade des Anglais is conveniently located right on the beachfront city's famous Promenade des Anglais, steps from the Mediterranean and within short walking distance of the city's sights. The rooms are trendy and modernist, and many have impressive balconies with sea views, yet it is still reasonably priced for the location and facilities. For a similarly-priced hotel with sea views and balconies that also has a spa, restaurant, and large pool area, try the Hyatt Regency Nice Palais de la Mediterranee.

Hyatt Regency Nice Palais de la Mediterranee
13 Promenade des Anglais

Located on the famous Promenade des Anglais, the 187-room Hyatt Regency Nice Palais de la Méditerranée is a modern luxury hotel in an historic Art Deco building, steps from the Bay of Angels. The rooms are spacious and modern, with most overlooking the glittering waters of the Mediterranean directly, or past the outdoor pool area with the sea beyond. Behind the hotel's white Art Deco facade, there's a large indoor/outdoor pool area, modern marble-floored common areas with artistic touches, three gourmet eateries and bars, and a Turkish bath. One of Nice's most famous casinos is on the ground floor.

Best Western Premier Hotel Roosevelt
16 rue Marechal Joffre

The four-floor, 49-room Best Western Hotel Roosevelt is a contemporary mid-range property. While it doesn't have the nearby Boscolo Exedra's luxury or facilities like a pool, fitness center, and spa, the Roosevelt offers relatively affordable rates, a breakfast buffet (for a fee), and clean and surprisingly modern guest rooms with free Wi-Fi. Its location in the heart of Nice offers close proximity to the main train station, and it’s a short walk to Old Town, the beach, and the Promenade des Anglais.

Nice Garden Hotel
11 rue du Congres

The nine-room Nice Garden Hotel is a reasonably priced oasis in a 19th-century townhouse in central Nice, just a few blocks from the beach and the Promenade des Anglais, within walking distance of the historic quarter. As a guesthouse-style hotel, it has no snazzy amenities, but you'll get a homey experience with friendly owners and a central location from which to explore Nice's beach, museums, shops, and cafes. The main draw of the hotel is its lush garden, which all rooms overlook, a few have direct access. Decor is a bit dated and bathrooms are small. Expect to pay extra for breakfast.

Goldstar Resort & Suites
45 rue Marechal Joffre

The upper-middle-range Goldstar Resort & Suites offers 56 spacious studios and apartment-style rooms with sitting areas, kitchenettes, and granite bathrooms with large tubs. Conveniently located, the hotel is a five-minute walk to the Promenade des Anglais and about a 15- to 20-minute walk to Old Town. There's a nice rooftop terrace with a covered pool, but the fitness area and sauna are small and disappointing. There's also a bar, restaurant, daily breakfast buffet (for an extra fee). Decor is a bit impersonal, but the property is well-maintained and clean. Travelers seeking a hotel closer to both the water and Old Town might want to check out the Hotel Beau Rivage.
