Holiday Inn Express New Delhi International Airport Terminal 3
Level 5 Terminal 3, Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi 110037 India

The Holiday Inn Express New Delhi International Airport Terminal 3 is a mid-range property with 93 rooms spread across a domestic and an international wing right inside the terminal The rooms are tiny, but contemporary, with flat-screen TVs, multi-voltage electrical outlets, and minibars. Bathrooms are sleek and contemporary, with black tiling and decent walk-in showers. Amenities include a fitness center, a restaurant that serves a free buffet breakfast, and even a spa with salon services. However, travelers are limited to a 24-hour stay and are not allowed to leave the airport area once checked in, making it impossible to see any sights on a long layover. The nearby Lemon Tree has way more flexibility along with fresh interiors at similar rates, but doesn't have an airport shuttle.

The Suryaa New Delhi
MMA Rd New Friends Colony, New Delhi 110025 India

Located in South Delhi's swanky New Friends Colony, The Suryaa is an upscale business hotel popular with Indian and international visitors alike. The 244 rooms here are generic and sometimes a bit dated, though they do have marble bathrooms and many come with access to the Club Lounge. Features include multiple restaurants with cuisine from around the world, plus a big outdoor swimming pool, a spa with a sauna and whirlpool, and a fitness center with modern cardio and weight equipment. The Suryaa's location is also a big draw, and it's convenient for business travelers with work obligations in nearby Noida. However, tourists wanting to rely on the metro to get around might be better off staying somewhere more central, such as the Taj Mahal Hotel near Khan Market.

The Ashok
50 - B Diplomatic Enclave, New Delhi 110021 India

A landmark hotel in Delhi's Diplomatic Enclave, The Ashok is a massive four-pearl property with 550 rooms and suites. Rooms here are classically decorated and showing their age a bit, and all suites have separate living areas and bedrooms. The on-site spa -- Amatraa -- is considered one of the city's finest and is attached to a modern fitness center. The restaurants are another huge draw, and include a couple of Indian vegetarian options and another that specializes in the famous cuisine of the city of Lucknow. While it's suitable for both tourists and business travelers, The Ashok is known as a convention hotel; those looking for something more intimate may prefer The Lodhi instead, though it's far more expensive.

Hotel Shelton
5043 Main Bazaar Road, Near Six Tooti Chowk

The Hotel Shelton is a 35-room mid-range hotel with extremely competitive rates for its category. All rooms have air-conditioning and flat-screen TVs, but they lack coffee- and tea-making facilities (though thermoses are provided) and have basic wet-room-style bathrooms (albeit with rainfall showerheads). However, light sleepers should bring ear plugs as noise from the busy street below can be a problem. On-site features include a 24-hour rooftop restaurant with a pool table and room service, free Wi-Fi, and tour booking service through the front desk. Travelers may also want to consider the Hotel Hari Piorko just a few doors down, which offers similarly priced rooms, many with their own live aquariums.

Taj Palace, New Delhi
2 Taj Palace, New Delhi Sardar Patel Marg, Diplomatic Enclave

The Taj Palace Hotel is a beautiful 444-room luxury property located in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi's Diplomatic Enclave. Rooms and suites are elegant, with beautiful linens and artwork, and deluxe marble bathrooms with separate walk-in showers and soaking tubs. The Taj is also home to a few of Delhi's finest restaurants, including a chic Vietnamese spot and an Old-World European restaurant -- Orient Express -- designed to resemble the interior of a classic train car. There are also a huge pool, a high-end spa, and a 24-hour fitness center with modern equipment, plus meeting and event space for up to 1,000 people. Many guests prefer it to the similarly priced ITC Maurya right next door, and features here are more impressive overall -- though ITC has more impressive dining (Bukhara is world renowned).
