Negril Palms Hotel
Norman Manley Boulevard

Located on Negril’s famous Seven Mile Beach, Negril Palms Hotel is a solid mid-range option. The hotel’s beautiful pool, awesome beachfront bar, and prime location are huge draws for all types of travelers, from families with kids to solo travelers to couples. The 33 rooms are simply decorated with neutral decor and wood accents, and some have nicely updated bathrooms. However rooms have paper-thin walls, and all of them lack ocean views. The hotel’s restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a casual open-air setting, which attracts guests and non-guests alike. Negril Palms has excellent free Wi-Fi across its property, but the prevalent smell of weed might be a turnoff for some travelers — though this is almost unavoidable in Negril. CocoLaPalm Resort is a similarly priced beachfront option with nicer rooms, and perhaps a more family-friendly atmosphere.

Firefly Beach Cottages
Norman Manley Boulevard

This 22-unit beach hotel oozes Jamaican authenticity, with colorful and flower-filled grounds, an action-packed beachfront setting, and a friendly local staff. Make no mistake, this is not a luxury resort -- there is no pool, spa, or proper fitness center, and modern comforts such as air-conditioning and TVs are largely missing. But those in search of a genuine experience at low rates should be pleased.

Coco LaPalm Sea Side Resort
Norman Manley Blvd

Located directly on the world famous Seven Mile Beach, the three-pearl CocoLaPalm Resort is an excellent option for Negril travelers. With a gorgeous beach, two pools, and Marley’s by the Sea (an awesome open-air restaurant), CocoLaPalm attracts everyone from families with kids to couples and adult friend groups. Rooms in the Coco building feature updated decor and nice amenities, but the property’s older rooms are in serious need of renovations. Freebies like Wi-Fi and continental breakfast are a huge plus, and there's a massage hut on the beach for services like braiding and pedicures. Travelers seeking something a bit more upscale might prefer Sandy Haven Resort, though nightly rates are pricier.

Pure Garden Resort Negril
Norman Manley Blvd, Next to the Time Square Mall

Though people rave about the budget-friendly Pure Garden Resort, we’re not sure we understand the appeal. Sure, the hotel has nice gardens and is across the street from Seven Mile Beach, but so are plenty of other hotels in Negril. Plus, Pure Garden’s 31 bare-bones rooms, desolate pool, and spotty Wi-Fi are nothing to write home about. Some of the rooms have kitchenettes, which are a nice feature for longer stays. The property also has a slightly sketchy vibe that we didn’t feel entirely comfortable with. A better budget option is the nearby Sunrise Club, which has a more welcoming atmosphere and a nice on-site restaurant. Travelers looking to be directly on the beach might prefer Travellers Beach Resort, though rates are pricier.

Azul Beach Resort Negril by Karisma
Norman Manley Blvd

The luxury Azul Beach Resort Sensatori Jamaica by Karisma reopened in 2014 after a slick renovation put a designer spin on this all-inclusive, which unfolds along pristine Seven Mile Beach. An expansion, opened in May 2017, saw the addition of new rooms and restaurants, with more restaurants set to debut by summer 2017. The resort's 285 rooms are funky and spacious -- with furnished terraces, water views, and swim-up suites. With four pools, four quality restaurants, and a top-notch spa and fitness center, Azul Beach Resort Sensatori Jamaica by Karisma packs in the features of a mega resort on an intimate scale, all executed with lashings of contemporary style. The property caters to families, groups, and couples (there’s an adult-only section), but travelers seeking boutique luxury in more traditional island style could try the Spa Retreat Boutique Hotel.

Legends Beach Hotel
Norman Manley Blvd

The 49-room Legends Beach Hotel is a basic mid-range property with a coveted spot at the tip of Negril’s Seven Mile Beach. Split between a garden and beach side -- each with its own small pool -- rooms are simple and basic, with evident wear, no fridges, and no in-room safes. They do have air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, free but spotty Wi-FI, and outdoor spaces -- a few with ocean views. A beachfront bar and restaurant serve tasty cuisine, and all-inclusive packages are available. Guests can take free daily shuttles to the sister resort, Samsara Cliffs Resort, for access to a spa, two more pools, a stunning clifftop sundeck, and another restaurant. The lack of beach towels and dated furnishings are downsides, but the price is affordable. It's worth considering the nearby White Sands, another affordable beach property.

Seastar Inn
4 Seastar Road, West End

Travelers that want to meet locals, explore Negril, or stay for an extended period are drawn to the budget Seastar Inn. Privately tucked into the trees of West End Road, this hotel has a variety of rooms, free breakfast, free Wi-Fi, and a free beach shuttle. There is a weekly reggae show that is popular with guests as well as residents. The location allows for easy access to nearby restaurants, shops, and attractions. There is an outdoor pool with swim-up bar on-site. Room types vary, but all have balconies complete with hammocks.

Sandy Haven Resort
Norman Manley Boulevard

Sandy Haven is an upscale, 35-room resort on Negril's Seven Mile Beach. Rooms have chic, contemporary decor incorporating leather headboards and (slightly scuffed) dark wood furniture; some bathrooms have nice mosaics showers with rainfall showers and luxe toiletries like exfoliating soap. Property offerings include an outdoor spa, decent-sized gym, elegant pool area with hot tub, and either casual beachside dining and drinks or a more formal dinner experience with premium spirits and wine list. It's best-suited to couples or individuals (rooms are priced per person) who want the features of a large all-inclusive, but the relaxation and exclusivity of a boutique.

Samsara Cliff Resort
West End Road

The 52-room Samsara Cliffs Resort is a simple mid-range property located in a prime spot in Negril’s West End, offering exceptional ocean vistas from many areas. It has an impressive array of features for a budget-friendly price: two pools, a cliffside sundeck, small breezy spa, and buffet and Italian-Jamaica restaurants. Though rooms are bland and basic, they come with air-conditioning, free (spotty) Wi-Fi, and flat-screen TVs. Some units add mini-fridges or kitchenettes, and a handful are set on stilts for pretty ocean vistas. All-inclusive packages attempt to add more value, though meals are during select times and wine isn't included. Free shuttles to sister property Legends allows guests to experience the famous Seven Mile Beach. No beach towels, fees to rent safes, and evident wear are notable downsides. It's worth considering Catcha Falling Star, which has more charming rooms and typically lower rates.

Fun Holiday Beach Resort
Norman Manley Boulevard

The Fun Holiday Beach Resort is a two-pearl hotel that offers basic rooms in a central location on Negril’s Seven Mile Beach. The rooms are small and no-frills, with outdated decor that could use a refresh (although they do have flat-screen TVs and free Wi-F). The property has more amenities than most value hotels, and its restaurant, pool, and all-inclusive option attract groups and budget travelers who are more interested in location than luxury. There's no fitness center, business center, or spa, but that's common in this price category.
