Harmony Boutique Hotel
Mouseio Chora

The 22-room Harmony Boutique Hotel is an upper-middle-range choice that's about as central as it gets. Overlooking Mykonos' Old Port, the views from several spots in the hotel are incredible and it's only a five-minute walk into town for dining, nightlife, and shopping. Rooms are simple and straightforward, with breezy neutrals throughout and charming terraces. There's a small outdoor pool with a pool bar, and the on-site restaurant and bar have beautiful sea views. The on-site fitness center and mini-spa are additional pluses. Views are equally good at the Hermes Mykonos Hotel and its rooms are fresher, but it lacks a fitness center or spa.

Milena Hotel
Drafaki

The Milena Hotel is a simple budget property near the airport, too far out to walk to any of the island's attractions. The affordable rates and 18 small, no-frills rooms are more ideal for budget travelers than romantic couples, but the overall cozy atmosphere has some intimate appeal. The rooftop terrace and a small church on the property help lend a marital air, too. The hotel offers free airport transfers, and breakfast is served (for a fee) in a bright cafe-bar, but guests looking for more dining options should look closer to town at Sofia Village or Hotel Tagoo.

Grand Beach
Megali Ammos Beach

Nestled into the pretty Mykonos hillside, this three-and-a-half-pearl property has lovely views of the Aegean Sea and Mykonos Windmills. It's a 10-15-minute walk to the shops, bars, and restaurants of Mykonos Town, and a one-minute walk to sandy Megali Ammos Beach, making it a great place for couples. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed, and decor is traditional with modern touches. All 37 rooms and suites are spacious, clean, and modern, featuring private balconies for taking in the views. The restaurant serves a variety of tasty local dishes, plus a daily breakfast buffet. The hotel also has a large saltwater pool and hot tub, plus a children's pool, poolside cocktail bar, fitness center, and free Wi-Fi. Guests preferring a shorter walk to town should consider the Porto Mykonos Hotel instead.

Omiros Hotel
Tagoo

Overlooking the old port, the Omiros Hotel has an enviable cliffside location within walking distance of dining and nightlife in Mykonos Town. There's a rooftop bar and terrace to take advantage of the excellent views, but the budget hotel offers little else. Guests have to traverse steep stairs to get around the property and there may not be staff on hand to help with baggage. The 10 simple rooms are on the small side, but each has a patio or balcony. It's worth checking rates at the nearby Hotel Tagoo which also includes free breakfast and an outdoor pool.

Mykonos Bay Hotel
Megali Ammos Beach - 300m from Mykonos town

The 31-room, upscale Mykonos Bay Hotel is located on Megali Ammos beach, the closest beach to Mykonos Town. It offers spectacular views from all over the hotel, including from guest rooms, which all have terraces or balconies. Decor is traditionally Cycladic, but with modern and fresh twists including minimalist white interiors and contemporary art. It's a 10-minute walk to town for dining and nightlife, and the hotel offers freebies including a breakfast buffet, a bottle of wine on arrival, airport and ferry terminal transportation, parking, and Wi-Fi. As an alternative, the Harmony Boutique Hotel is a little less costly and it has a mini-spa and fitness center.

Damianos Hotel
Drossopezoula

The Damianos Hotel is a family-owned, mid-range boutique located in a quiet part of Drossopezoula, near the bus stop that goes directly to Paradise Beach in about 20 minutes. The hotel has a large outdoor pool and whirlpool with scenic ocean views in the distance. A poolside bar serves drinks and snacks, and the Greek breakfast includes pastries, crepes, and yogurt. Twenty four contemporary rooms look a bit dated, but come with air-conditioning, mini-fridges, and some sea views. Free Wi-Fi and airport or port transportation add value to the stay. For something on the beach, check out Mykonos Palace Beach Hotel -- but note that rates are higher.

Hotel Jason
Glastros PO BOX 323

Hotel Jason is a simple hotel halfway between the attractions in Mykonos Town and the popular beaches around Platys Gialos, though walking distance to neither. It's slim on amenities, with a relaxed atmosphere and affordable rates being its biggest selling points. The outdoor pool has plenty of covered loungers and daybeds, and each room has a lovely private balcony. There's a basic lobby bar and breakfast is offered for a fee, but there's no full restaurant or sumptuous Greek cuisine to be found. It's worth checking rates at Hotel Tagoo for similar amenities and value closer to the nightlife of Mykonos Town.

Vencia Hotel
Agios Eleftherios

This 31-room boutique hotel is a competitively priced upcale choice for guests who want to be close to town but still have hilltop vantage-point views. The Venica Hotel is a 15-minute walk to Mykonos Town, and located off a busy (and sometimes noisy) street. The hotel rooms are still quiet despite that, not to mention clean and homey, and the property reflects a modern Cycladic style with traditional Mykonian details. A restaurant, bar, spa services, and rooftop infinity pool are available on-site, while a slew of activities, both near and far, can be arranged by the concierge. The Vencia is geared more toward couples and groups of friends than families.

Hotel Tagoo
Tagoo Area

Run by a Canadian expat, the Hotel Tagoo (not to be confused with Hotel Cavo Tagoo) is located within walking distance to the center of town, but far enough away to give guests spectacular views and a quiet atmosphere. It's one of the older hotels in the area, with spacious and homey rooms, panoramic hilltop views, and traditional Cycladic decor; it attracts many repeat guests. Book early as the 20 rooms fill up quickly (note that there is a four-night minimum stay policy during July and August). It's a great value option for couples and friends, but it does lack an on-site restaurant.

Rania Apartments
2 Boni

This cozy, two-and-a-half-pearl hotel offers clean, comfortable rooms and apartments close to sights and entertainment in Mykonos Town. The property is small but lovely, with a pretty garden terrace where guests can relax. There are no on-site facilities like a pool or restaurant, but being within a few minutes’ walk of town makes it convenient nonetheless. The 15 units maintain a traditional Cycladic feel with simple color palettes and minimal accents. All rooms are air-conditioned and include flat-screen TVs, coffeemakers, and up-to-date bathrooms, and kitchenettes are a nice extra in many. Though pricier, Harmony Boutique Hotel offers a range of on-site amenities and services that are not available here.
