Half Moon
Rose Hall

Half Moon is a luxury oceanfront property with two beautiful beaches outside of Montego Bay. Its 388 air-conditioned rooms are a mix of modern and traditionally-decorated units with living areas, extensive minibars, and flat-screen TVs. Private balconies have ocean, pool, or garden views, and multi-bedroom villas include perks like cooks and butlers. This sprawling resort has tons of amenities including a huge spa, three tasty -- yet pricy -- restaurants, multiple pools, free tennis courts, a kids' club, and a massive gym. At this price point, the hotel has surprising few freebies, and most guests opt for all-inclusive rates as pay-as-you-go prices are sky high. For a more family-friendly oceanfront all-inclusive that includes extras like an adventure park, its worth pricing out Melia Braco Village instead.

Holiday Inn Resort Montego Bay
Rosehall Parish Half Moon St

This all-inclusive, family-friendly Holiday Inn sits on a half-mile of private sandy beach, a short drive from the airport. This lower-middle-range, 551-room resort, while well-maintained, is dated with an old-school vibe. Kids are front and center here -- those under 12 stay and eat free, kid-friendly suites with bunk beds are available, and there’s nonstop entertainment and activities at the Children's Activity Center. Adults can either revel in the atmosphere, or escape to their own beach area and pool. The Holiday Inn is best suited to families craving value over luxury, who like resort-style cheesy fun, and have the patience to stand in buffet lines. Families could also consider the Sunscape Splash Montego Bay, which offers an aquatic park center around a castle and a spa for adults.

Sandals Montego Bay
Montego Bay, Kent Avenue

The luxurious Sandals Montego Bay is a solid beachfront all-inclusive option for couples who don't want to travel far from the airport or cruise port. The 1981-opened hotel is mostly modern thanks to renovations in 2018, but some of the 264 rooms still have colonial-style decor. Additionally, some only have shower/tub combos or walk-in showers. All, however, come with outdoor spaces, minibars with wine and beer, and king-size beds. Plenty of activities and dining options are on-site, including specialty Italian and Japanese restaurants, ocean-view pools and whirlpools, a full-service spa with free-to-use sauna and steam room, unlimited non-motorized water sports, and daily entertainment. On the downside, planes from the nearby airport can be noisy and bothersome, and room service is only free for butler-level units. For those willing to travel farther, Sandals Negril has a more impressive setting.

Hotel Riu Reggae
Rose Hall Mahoe Bay

The upper-middle-range Hotel Riu Reggae is an adults-only, all-inclusive resort located a 10-minute drive from the airport in Montego Bay. The 454 rooms are clean and contemporary, featuring furnished balconies, minibars, liquor dispensers, and roomy showers, but limited toiletries and coffeemakers only in upgraded units. Three infinity pools and a small beach with loungers are big draws during the day, while the resort's five restaurants, bars, and next-door nightclub fill the evenings. Other facilities consist of a full-service spa with whirlpool and sauna, free Wi-Fi, free non-motorized water sports, and excursions (fee). This is a middle-of-the-road property between the two neighboring Riu resorts, so those willing to pay a little more for extra perks and more impressive rooms, check out the Riu Palace Jamaica, while those wanting a stronger party vibe may prefer Riu Montego Bay

Secrets St. James Montego Bay
Lot 59A Freeport

The luxury 350-room Secrets St. James is an adults-only all-inclusive resort situated on a secluded beachfront peninsula a 20-minute drive from the airport in Montego Bay. It has a laundry list of features that it shares with adjacent sister property Secrets Wild Orchid, including 10 restaurants, nine bars, an expansive spa, nearly half a mile of beach, and tons of activities: a theater, dive center, piano bar, shopping plaza, and game room. Outdoor pools are lovely, though the nicest one is reserved for Preferred Club guests, who also receive access to an exclusive lounge and upgraded amenities. The “Unlimited Luxury” all-inclusive package covers all meals and drinks, including top-shelf liquor, Wi-Fi, and 24-hour room service. Attractive suites are outfitted with whirlpool tubs, terraces, and iPhone docks, plus swim-up rooms are available. For comparison, the Secrets Wild Orchid is more contemporary and puts guests closer to restaurants, though generally a bit pricier.

Hotel Riu Palace Jamaica
Mahoe Bay. Rose Hall

The 238-room Hotel Riu Palace Jamaica is located along Montego Bay's Ironshore, right next to sister property Riu Montego Bay. This upscale, adult-only all-inclusive has a fun atmosphere, an outgoing entertainment and restaurant staff, lots of planned activities, a small beach, several restaurants and bars, and two pools. In fact, with so much going on, some people may feel a bit cramped. Luckily, the stylish rooms are spacious and come with private patios, jetted tubs, liquor dispensers, and rainfall showers. This Riu is best suited for young social couples, but older folks should not be deterred.

Secrets Wild Orchid Montego Bay
Lot 59A, Freeport

The sprawling 350-room Secrets Wild Orchid Montego Bay is one of the more luxurious adults-only all-inclusive resorts along the beach in Jamaica, and it's located a convenient 20-minute drive from the airport. It has a laundry list of property features, including several ocean-view pools, 10 restaurants and cafes – Mexican, Asian, and Italian among them -- nine bars and lounges, and full-service spa, nightly entertainment, and daytime activities. The “Unlimited Luxury” all-inclusive package covers all dining, top-shelf liquor, 24-hour room service, non-motorized water sports, and fitness facilities. A dive center, shopping center, and casino round out amenities. However, it’s worth noting that the resort shares virtually all of its features with next-door sister property Secrets St. James Montego Bay, and some of the best amenities and freebies are reserved for the Preferred Club guests – who also get free access to Breathless Montego Bay Resort & Spa.

Deja Resort
92 Gloucester Ave

Deja Resort is a straightforward, no-frills establishment on a commercial strip with many businesses, and across the street from Doctor's Cave Beach. It provides spacious, tidy, simply furnished rooms that appeal to a mix of vacationing families and corporate travelers. This hotel has meeting rooms, frequently used by local business personnel, and some basic amenities that will appeal to those traveling on a budget, including a free breakfast buffet and free Wi-Fi. Other offerings include a fitness facility, pool with a pool bar, as well as a main bar, and on-site restaurant. This is a suitable option for those seeking reasonably priced accommodations, without the showy features (and additional cost) of a larger resort.

Bethel Court Guest House
25 Bethel Court, Mount Salem

Bethel Court Guest House is a one-and-a-half-pearl property in Mount Salem, a sleepy residential neighborhood just outside of central Montego Bay. The hotel’s 14 air-conditioned apartments are a mix of one- to three-bedroom units with cable TVs, air-conditioning, kitchens, and dining areas. They also have free Wi-Fi and shared balconies or patios, though the views aren't of anything spectacular. Bethel Court’s amenities are limited, but include free airport pick-ups and Wi-Fi. There’s also free parking. For an ocean-view stay with apartment-style units, a freshwater pool, an on-site restaurant, and convenient location near The Hip Strip, its worth pricing out Montego Bay Club Resort instead (though it's more expensive).

Sandals Inn
Kent Avenue

The Sandals Carlyle Inn is a small, mid-range all-inclusive resort located near the popular Hip Strip of Montego Bay, within walking distance from a variety of shops, bars, restaurants, and craft boutiques. With just 52 rooms, this hotel has a more intimate, quieter vibe than most other Sandals properties, but guests can “eat and play” at the two larger (and significantly more expensive) sister resorts for free if they want to try the additional restaurants and activities featured there. Rooms are wrapped around the pool, and there's a small, unexceptional public beach just across the street, as well as a large garden with lawn games. Though the hotel is advertised as a luxury property, many rooms are quite dated, so guests should adjust their expectations accordingly.
