Ramada by Wyndham Miami Springs/Miami International Airport

The Ramada Miami Springs/Miami International Airport is 122-room, budget property conveniently located five minutes from the airport with free shuttle service. It's a 15-minute drive from the Port of Miami, and golf, casinos, and family attractions are all less than 30 minutes away. Rooms are modern and bright, and some have kitchenettes. The outdoor pool, free breakfast, and on-site restaurant and bar are all pluses, though guests will hear airport noise and there is a fee for the cruise terminal shuttle. Guests can compare rates with the Red Roof Plus Miami Airport where all rooms have mini-fridges and microwaves as well as bathtubs, and its shuttle to the cruise port is free.

The Ritz-Carlton Coconut Grove, Miami

The Coconut Grove Ritz maintains the same elegant, high-polished marble and prompt, reliable service that made the Ritz brand famous. But the Coconut Grove branch is irritatingly far from the action and lacks the spectacular, luxurious oomph of similarly priced business brands (like the Four Seasons downtown).

Hampton Inn Miami Dadeland
8200 SW 70th Ave

The 131-room Hampton Inn Miami Dadeland is a lower-middle-range chain hotel within walking distance of Dadeland Mall. An outdoor heated pool, hot tub, and free hot breakfast draw many families, while business travelers are also attracted by its meeting rooms, business center, and fitness center. Room decor is a bit bland and dated, though not unpleasant, with flat-screen TVs and coffee/tea facilities. The hotel offers a free shuttle to and from the airport and other local spots, plus there is a metro station nearby that makes traveling around Miami easy. Guests should note that though parking is free, there's a limited amount of spaces. Travelers might also want to consider the Hampton Inn Miami-Coconut Groves/Coral Gable, which offers similar amenities, but is more stylish and closer to the beach.

Residence Inn by Marriott Miami Airport

Made up of 163 modern, apartment-style studio suites and one- and two-bedroom suites -- each with stainless-steel kitchen appliances and great bedding -- this is a solid airport hotel for families or groups, given its free breakfast, great fitness center, and Jacuzzi. But for a restaurant and a pool, you'll have to walk over to the sister Marriott.

Miami Airport Marriott
1201 NW Le Jeune Road Building A

The 363-room Marriott Miami Airport is a modern stopover that offers free terminal shuttles, an on-site Hertz rental desk, and services for business travelers, including 16 meeting rooms. Colorful, modern rooms come with coffeemakers and flat-screen TVs, and are a decent step up from typical airport hotel offerings in the area. This upper-middle-range hotel has an American-style restaurant, a sports bar, and a Starbucks, and shares an outdoor pool, hot tub, and gym with the Courtyard by Marriott Miami Airport South. Marriott Rewards members get access to the M Lounge plus free breakfast and free Wi-Fi. Travelers seeking a bit more style near the airport might want to check out the Pullman Miami Airport, but rates will be higher.

Holiday Inn Port of Miami Downtown

The 200-room Holiday Inn Port of Miami-Downtown is a city gem for budget-conscious travelers, offering a prime location, outdoor pool, casual bar and grill, gym, and even same-day dry cleaning. Classic rooms have flat-screen TVs and mini-fridges, and some have Brickell Key views. However, some rooms do have outdated and worn decor, and the mid-range chain style isn't for everyone. For newer and better-looking rooms, try the Courtyard by Marriott Miami Downtown

Habitat Residence
1700 SW 2nd Ave

The three-pearl Habitat Residence in Miami's financial district attracts both long-term and short-stay guests with its clean and spacious apartments. Each unit, ranging from one to three bedrooms, has a full kitchen, living/dining area, and a balcony, and is furnished in a crisp and contemporary, if plain, style. The hotel also offers an outdoor pool with loungers, a fitness center, and a conference room. There's a supermarket within walking distance, and public transportation is an eight-minute walk away. As of late fall 2015, construction of a high-rise building next door made this otherwise quiet neighborhood noisy, and guests should also note that the valet parking -- the only option on-site -- is pricey. For something with more features, travelers might want to check out the nearby Aloft Miami Brickell.

Aloft Miami - Brickell

This hotel was impacted by Hurricane Irma in September 2017. We will update our review as soon as we have more information. The 160-room mid-range Aloft Miami Brickell is a trendy, modern hotel located on the edge of downtown Miami’s financial district near the James L. Knight International Center -- a convention, exhibition, and entertainment space --  making it a convenient choice for business travelers. The vibe is young, hip, and social, with plenty of common spaces, such as the 24-hour Re:fuel cafe, where guests can hang out or work using the free Wi-Fi. Rooms are spacious, clean, and creatively designed, with ergonomic work areas, and big, comfy beds. Despite the trendy vibe, the hotel is not without kid-friendly amenities -- Camp Aloft offers children under 12 their own child-size mattresses and bedding, and Re:mix provides free games to keep them entertained. Travelers looking for design-conscious, mid-range properties could also try the Freehand Miami.

Hyatt Regency Miami

Efficient and business-focused, the Hyatt is in the heart of Downtown Miami. It features comfortable, modern rooms, a 24-hour gym, a small pool and an adjoining convention center to keeps the suits coming. Though it's close to public transportation, the beach is still a long way away.

Regency Hotel Miami

The 174-room Regency Hotel Miami is a mid-range, family-friendly airport hotel with classic decor, same day laundry/dry cleaning services, airport transfers, a rental car desk, an outdoor pool, and casual dining and cocktails. Traditional rooms have flat-screen TVs and some come with wet bars and balconies overlooking the city. However, some room furnishings appear worn, and past guests have complained of noise from airplanes flying overhead. Overall, this is a more stylish option than competitive chains, with all the conveniences of an airport hotel.
