Sol Wave House All Suites
Avenida Magaluf 18, Calvia Beach

The 184-room Sol Wave House is an upscale beachfront hotel attached to the Wave Entertainment Venue, a small water center with two wave pools. This hip property is a step above the average Magaluf hotel, with an infinity pool lined with cabanas, chill DJ sessions, and a young, lively crowd. All rooms are Junior Suites or Suites complete with basic kitchen facilities, flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, large rainfall showers, and balconies; many have expansive pool and sea views. It's a fun, stylish pick with several dining options, free parking, and a central location right on the beach and in the heart of the party area, but guests only get discounted rates (not free tickets) to the wave pools. Families may prefer Sol Katmandu Park & Resort, which features a kid-friendly theme and water park on-site.

Melia Calvia Beach
Calle Violetes 1

Having completed an extensive renovation in 2016, the upscale Melia Calvia Beach is now one of a new breed of hotels slowly changing the slightly sullied image of Magaluf. It's also at the quieter end of this party resort, with direct access to a lovely, long sandy beach. Most of the hotel's 315 guest rooms and Suites open to balconies with views of the bay, plus luxury touches such as robes and designer toiletries come as standard. Dining is also top-notch, including at the hotel's beach club with waterfront terrace. Guests wanting VIP treatment can opt for The Level experience, while parents can drop even small kids off at the free mini-club. A small spa with heated indoor pool complete an impressive package, but those wanting more of a scene might prefer the neighboring ME Mallorca.

Sol Barbados by Melia
Avenida Notario Alemany/B. Palma 7

The three-and-a-half-pearl Sol Barbados sits at the posh end of Magaluf Bay, away from the chaotic central night scene, though within easy reach of the area's attractions and beachfront. It's a large hotel with a huge pool deck, including a renovated kids' water park pool. With a kids' club, sports activities, and evening entertainment, the emphasis is on families here. A buffet restaurant and poolside snack-bar ensures food and drinks are available all day, and all-inclusive rates are a favorite. The 428 modern rooms have a simple, airy feel. All rooms feature sofa-beds and balconies. It's a great option for families, but those without kids could check out the adult-only Flamboyan Caribe at the other end of the bay, which has a similarly chilled vibe, despite being closer to central Magaluf.

Sol Guadalupe by Melia
Ctra La Porrassa S/N, Calvia Beach

The 493-room Sol Guadalupe is a family-friendly upper-middle-range hotel located a block from the beach and a 10-minute walk from the main party area in Magaluf. Rooms were renovated in 2015, and while simply decorated, all are clean and have free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, and mini-fridges. The main pool has a swim-up whirlpool, access to a snack bar with outdoor seating, and two kiddy pools, including one with slides. There is an additional indoor-outdoor pool with fitness activities during the warmer months, but the hotel lacks a full gym. One of the most common complaints at the Sol Guadalupe is its subpar food. Those looking to stay closer to the party area may want to compare rates at the all-inclusive Flamboyant Caribe, though noise from nearby clubs and bars should be expected.

Sol House the Studio
Calle de la Cala Blanca 2, Playa Calvia

While set right in the center of the notoriously wild resort of Magaluf, the Sol House Mallorca is relative oasis of chilled-out, Ibiza-tinged calm. Reopened in 2015, the vibe at this four-pearl property is fresh and youthful, appealing mostly to fun-focused Brits who'd rather leave the partying outside the hotel. A taco and tequila trailer provide treats by the inflatable-filled pool, overlooked by an elevated adults-only sun terrace with Bali beds. The hotel's 375 guest rooms are smart and contemporary, with extra perks for upgraded guests, and some upper-level balconies offer sea views. Daily live DJs and occasional pool parties that are kept low-level are also part of the package. Those after a similar setting but without the kids should consider adults-only Sotavento Apartments, while the beachfront ME Mallorca nearby combines a party feel with better family-friendly facilities.

HSM Sandalo Beach
Calle Torrenova 37

Totally transformed after its 2016 top-to-toe renovation, HSM Sandalo Beach is a three-pearl, all-apartment property built into the cliffside of the Torrenova peninsula. While at the top of a steep climb, the setting means relatively quiet surroundings within easy reach of Magaluf's beaches and wild nightlife. The 78 studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments all come with the showstopper sea view, together with up-to-date kitchenettes and free Wi-Fi. A beach-club vibe pool terrace features a huge whirlpool tub and hosts weekend pool parties with live DJs and fire-breathers, though without ever getting too boisterous. Overall, it's a solid option, but there's no full-service restaurant or gym, breakfast costs extra, and drinks can be pricey. The neighboring adults-only Sotavento Apartments provide some stiff competition for the more party-inclined, though with limited sea views.

Sunlight Bahia Principe Coral Playa
Calle Torrenova 41

Sunlight Bahia Principe Coral Playa is a mid-range high-rise hotel set into the hillside overlooking the south end of Magaluf's sweeping sandy bay. An elevator connects directly to the beach below, otherwise it's a very steep climb (or taxi) back up. Rooms are clean, with most featuring superb sea views from balconies, as well as some inevitable noise from returning revelers. Dining is decent enough; breakfast and dinner are included, and there's an optional all-inclusive plan. The pool is a let-down: fairly small, usually cold, and often in the shade, so most guests stick to the sea. Despite the drawbacks, this is still deservedly one of the more popular hotels in the area, though for a bigger pool and updated rooms check out Sotavento Apartments, which are practically next door.

Flamboyan Caribe
Calle Martin Ros Garcia 16

The Flamboyan Caribe is a three-pearl, adult-oriented hotel overlooking the east end of Magaluf's long stretch of sandy beach. The town's notoriously wild nightlife is just a short stroll away, though the hotel manages to stay comparatively quiet. Its 205 rooms are spread between two buildings, all of which open to balconies, though not all have superb sea views. Decor is pleasant, though Wi-Fi isn't free, even with all-inclusive rates. Sea views from the dining room and pool terrace are a bonus, and the modern spa is pleasant. Overall, despite its all-inclusive rates, this hotel is one of the less boisterous Magaluf options. Families with kids, however, might prefer the Viva Palmanova up the road, which adds a kids' pool.

HSM Atlantic Park
Calle Calderon de la Barca 2

There's little at the HSM Atlantic Park to distinguish it beyond your average, three-pearl resort hotel. While the immediate neighborhood is a little scruffy, it's pretty quiet and just a short walk to Magaluf's beach and nightlife. The pool is a little small, but the surrounding sun terrace is a relaxing spot with loungers in abundance. Most of its 242 guest rooms overlook the pool area, though like much of the property, interiors are starting to show their age. An all-inclusive plan is optional and dining, while limited, is generally decent and includes poolside snacks. Ultimately, it does delivers the generic resort-hotel experience, though the nearby Sol Guadalupe, with its huge pool and smarter guest rooms, offers better value.

Universal Hotel Florida
Calle Torrenova 33

The adults-only Hotel Florida is a lower-middle-range property popular with the young party crowd. It's set in the relatively laid-back Torrenova neighborhood a short walk from the wild Magaluf nightlife. The hotel's main selling point is its dramatic cliffside setting that affords some of the finest panoramic sea views in the area. Unfortunately, the property itself can feel dated, especially in its 200-odd guest rooms which also lack air conditioning. Buffet dining is surprisingly good, however, and direct access to the sea via a small pebble beach is a real bonus. Overall, it's a solid option for a hotel of this category, though for around the same price the nearby Sotavento Apartments offers modern, self-catering accommodation and a snazzier pool area, though limited sea views.
