Hotel Cristina
Via Tamas 20

Hotel Cristina is a large, budget-friendly '60s-era hotel featuring a spectacular setting on the side of the hill overlooking the north end of Lake Garda. The Limone town center and lakeside is walkable downhill, though the way back up can be a struggle, as can navigating the hotel's many steps. Most of the 158 guest rooms are in need of a makeover and have old-fashioned amenities, however the majority also extend to balconies with superb views. The fabulous lake vistas can also be enjoyed from the main restaurant and both pools. All in all, while certainly dated, this is a good value option with a stunning setting. For added spa facilities, check out the similarly priced Centro Vacanze La Limonaia.

Hotel San Pietro
Via Tamas 20

Hotel San Pietro is a three-pearl property occupying a scenic spot on the northern end of Lake Garda, a 15-minute walk from the beach and town of Limone sul Garda. Views are sensational from outdoor pools, terraces, and most of the 89 rooms. Like the rest of the property, spacious rooms have dated decor, but they come with flat-screen TVs, minibars, and AC. Poolside grill lunches are popular, and a full restaurant offers buffet alternatives. Free breakfasts accompany free afternoon coffee and cakes, and an evening bar has live music. Rates are lower at the downtown Hotel Monte Baldo, but there's no pool.

Hotel Alexander
Via Lungomare Marconi 58

This 73-room, mid-range hotel is ideally situated on a beautiful mountainside overlooking Lake Garda in northern Italy. It is centrally located in the town, and offers stunning views from upper-floor balconies. Rooms are modestly decorated but contemporary, and include small flat-screen TVs and minibars. However, there's no air-conditioning in common areas and usage is restricted in rooms. There’s a good range of amenities, including an infinity pool and whirlpool in a lush courtyard, and a restaurant serving pizza and international cuisine. The spa is a nice extra and includes a fitness room and sauna. For a more intimate experience, compare the 12-room Hotel Monte Baldo, a quiet hotel on the marina with an excellent restaurant.
