Champlung Mas Hotel
Jl. Melasti

Champlung Mas Hotel is a three-pearl property at the southern end of Legian near Kuta, in an area with plenty of shopping and dining. The hotel offers 171 simple rooms, some with views of the outdoor courtyard pool with a swim-up bar. They come with air-conditioning and terraces, but we spotted a good deal of wear during our visit. The hotel also has a rooftop pool with ocean views and a poolside bar, plus a spa and two restaurants. The pools can get busy, and the rooftop pool often has a DJ, meaning that they aren't exactly the picture of tranquility. Travelers may want to compare amenities at the nearby Alum KulKul Boutique Resort, which is smaller, more upscale, and a bit closer to the beach, though rates will be higher.

Puri Raja
Jl Padma Utara, Legian Beach

Puri Raja is a three-pearl hotel located across the road from Legian Beach, and a short walk from plenty of shops, bars, nightclubs, and restaurants. The 72 rooms are clean and simple, if a little worn and lacking much in the way Balinese style. All come with minibars, free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, and balconies or terraces. The hotel's two swimming pools are a highlight, one of which has a swim-up bar and lively vibe, while the other offers a more secluded vibe. There's also a restaurant facing the beach, which serves good-quality Indonesian and Western fare. Travelers who want to spend a bit more might consider the slightly more upscale Bali Niksoma Boutique Beach Resort, which has more modern style and features like a spa and fitness center.

The ONE Legian
Jl. Raya Legian 117

The ONE Legian is a three-and-a-half pearl hotel with a cool urban design approach and energetic vibe. It features an excellent location in Legian that's a short walk from bars and clubs, and about a 10-minute walk from the beach. However, that central location will translate to noise. The rooftop pool hosts regular parties with DJs, and the hotel also offers a quieter second pool, a spa, fitness center, two restaurants, and several bars. The 301 rooms are compact and simple, with standard features like mini-fridges, free Wi-Fi, and flat-screen TVs. The atmosphere can get a little loud and crazy, so travelers looking for a more traditional and quiet hotel in the same area might consider the nearby Adi Dharma Hotel.

The Stones Hotel - Legian Bali, Autograph Collection
Jl. Raya Pantai Kuta

The Stones Hotel - Legian Bali, Autograph Collection is a contemporary four-pearl hotel across from the southern tip of Legian Beach. There's plenty to see and do all around, and the hotel's massive pool with a swim-up bar is one of the best in the area. The Stones also has a spa, fitness center, and kids' club, along with several well-liked restaurants. All 308 spacious rooms include marble bathrooms, minibars, iPod docks, free Wi-Fi, and 42-inch flat-screen TVs, with a simple, contemporary style. Some have balconies overlooking the pool. While the style here is subdued and tranquil, the hotel can get busy and even crowded at times. Travelers looking for a high-end hotel with more distinctively Balinese atmosphere might consider the Padma Resort Legian, which is up the beach.

Andari Legian
Jl. Jatayu 2 No. 88, Nakula Timur, Banjar Legian Kaja

Legian Guest House is an affordably priced, 13-room value hotel located along a quiet lane off of bustling Sunset Road highway. The hotel's name is somewhat misleading, as downtown Legian is a 10-minute drive from the hotel and Legian Beach is around 15 minutes away by car. To help, the hotel offers a free shuttle service to the Legian area. Facilities and rooms are basic and the hotel is essentially a cheap crash pad, though the social vibe adds some charm. Features are limited to a small pool and a small restaurant. Rooms are compact, simple, and clean, and include air-conditioning, mini-fridges, and free Wi-Fi. For a similarly priced hotel with a better downtown location, the Loft Legian Hotel offers modern rooms closer to the beach, though it lacks a pool.

AQ-VA Hotel & Villas
Jl. Werkudara No. 464

AQ-VA Hotel & Villas is a modern four-pearl hotel conveniently located between Legian and Seminyak, a 10-minute walk from Legian Beach, near dining and shopping. Highlights include two narrow outdoor swimming pools, a full-service spa, fitness center, and Indonesian/Mediterranean restaurant with an open kitchen. The 27 rooms include Studios, multi-bedroom suites, and villas, all of which are spacious and done in bright minimalist decor. Villas open to private swimming pools and come with butler service. All include balconies or terraces, minibars, DVD players, free Wi-Fi, and flat-screen TVs. Those looking for a fresh mid-range alternative should consider Amaris Legian Hotel - Bali, which is less expensive but lacks some of the bells and whistles here, including the high-end villas.

The Magani Hotel and Spa
Jl. Melasti, Legian Kelod

The 108-room Magani Hotel and Spa is an upscale, contemporary property in a busy area with restaurants, shops, and the beach within a five-minute walk. Big, sophisticated rooms offer furnished terraces or balconies, and some have whirlpool tubs or private outdoor plunge pools. This fresh, pristine property offers a restaurant, pool with swim-up bar, and spa with two saunas. The business and fitness centers are modern, and Wi-Fi is free. Because of its desirable location, the hotel (and especially the street-facing restaurant) tends to be somewhat loud and can draw partiers. Guests may want to consider the Ossotel, another upscale option in Legian that's less expensive and offers free breakfast.

Hotel NEO + Kuta Legian
Jl. Troppozone no. 8

Hotel NEO + Kuta Legian is a three-and-a-half-pearl, 117-room hotel located in downtown Kuta, next door to the wild Legian nightlife scene. However, the hotel isn't a good option for light sleepers, as rooms are poorly soundproofed and nearby nightclubs blast music all night. Legian Street, at the end of the block, has great shopping and dining options, and Kuta Beach is less than a 15-minute walk away. The hotel features a lap pool, a reasonably priced restaurant, meeting rooms, and a spa. Rooms are contemporary, ranging from affordable compact rooms to spacious poolside suites that feature living rooms and dining areas. As an alternative, The Loft Legian hotel is a more affordable option and is closer to the beach, but lacks a swimming pool.

Anantara Vacation Club Legian
Jl, Pantai Arjuna no. 14, Double Six

Seaside Suites Bali is a three-and-a-half pearl hotel in an excellent northern Legian location across the road from Double Six Beach. The hotel's prime draw is its 28 spacious studios and suites. All are modern and come with minibars, free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, and balconies or terraces. Suites feature kitchens and living/dining areas, and some have their own pools. The hotel also features a large outdoor pool, beach-facing restaurant and bar, excellent fitness center, and spa with a sauna, steam room, and hot tub. Seaside Suites is a good deal for those who want a spacious room and a spot near the beach, but without the price tag of a luxury hotel. However, while its rooms are more spacious than the nearby Camakila, it lacks a second pool.

ibis Styles Bali Legian
Jl. Padma Utara

This three-pearl, 113-room hotel is a five-minute walk from Legian Beach and close to many shops, bars, and restaurants. It's a bright, colorful property that attracts young travelers as well as families, given the low rates and relaxed atmosphere. Air-conditioned rooms include flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, free spotty Wi-Fi, and furnished balconies with pool views. Family Rooms are available, and some rooms add outdoor showers. There's a long outdoor pool lined with sun loungers and a poolside bar, plus a restaurant serving international cuisines and a generous breakfast buffet for a fee. The hotel has a full-service spa, but it lacks a fitness center. Travelers might also want to consider the Legian Beach Hotel, which is across the road from the beach and adds a fitness center.
