Bella Vista Suites
335 Wrigley Dr

The Bella Vista Suites is a mid-range hotel across the road from its own private pier on Lake Geneva. The prime location comes with a slightly upscale vibe and a beautiful outdoor terrace facing the lake, but the suites here aren't particularly modern. All have kitchenettes and private balconies though, with some adding perks like in-room whirlpool tubs or fireplaces. The hotel also has an indoor pool and hot tub, along with a full spa, but there's no restaurant, bar, or breakfast offered. For that, check next door at the historic Baker House, or the nearby Harbor Shores on Lake Geneva, which has slightly cheaper rates.

Inns Of Geneva National
1091 Hidden Cottage Cir

The upper-middle-range Inns of Geneva National has six units, each with six separately booked bedrooms and bathrooms, and rustic shared common areas with stone fireplaces, dining and living areas, and full kitchens, making this property popular with groups. Bedrooms are large and include mini-fridges, whirlpool tubs, and Keurig coffeemakers. Guests can use the Geneva National Resort’s generous facilities, which include three golf courses, a spa, five pools, a fitness center, and several restaurants and bars. Rooms come with a daily resort fee, but shuttle service to Lake Geneva and bike and golf club rentals come at no extra charge. It’s a 15-minute drive to the town of Lake Geneva, so travelers seeking a hotel closer to the action might want to consider the Mill Creek Hotel, which doesn't have as many facilities but has lower rates.

Cove of Lake Geneva
111 Center St

Overlooking the shores of Lake Geneva, the upper-middle-range Cove of Lake Geneva is about a five-minute walk to the public beach and the town center. Its 222 one- and two-bedroom suites are individually owned, so decor and their condition can vary, but, overall, they're spacious and well-maintained. They come with fireplaces and whirlpool tubs, patios or balconies, and full kitchens, but not all include ovens, and all lack lake views. Facilities include indoor and outdoor pools, a poolside bar, a fitness center, outdoor tennis and basketball courts, an arcade-style game room, gift shop, and laundry facilities. The on-site restaurant and pub has Wisconsin craft beers on tap, and the cafe and lounge serves breakfast. Be aware that the hotel charges a daily resort fee. Travelers might want to also consider the more intimate Mill Creek Hotel, in the heart of downtown, which offers comparable suites and rates.

Mill Creek Hotel
123 Center St

The 33-suite Mill Creek Hotel is a mid-range condominium hotel in downtown Lake Geneva. Near the shops and restaurants of this charming town, it's also only two blocks away from the lake's marina and many of the hotel's suites have partial lake views. The suites are large, homey, and well-maintained (if not exactly modern) with four-burner stoves, full-sized refrigerators, dishwashers, and most notably, two-person whirlpool baths. The hotel has a small fitness center, as well as a lovely indoor pool and an expansive outdoor sun deck. Wi-Fi is free, and the hotel serves a free continental breakfast each morning. Guests willing to pay a bit more to be right on the water could try Bella Vista Suites.

Baker House Hotel
327 Wrigley Dr

Located in downtown Lake Geneva, Baker House is an intimate, upscale, and fun boutique hotel with only four guest rooms -- though the property itself has 30 rooms, and each has unique character. The hotel is family run, and the house is a Queen Anne Victorian, finished in 1885 for one of Wisconsin's most notable families. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places, Baker House has been lovingly restored and furnished with antiques from the late 19th century -- reminiscent of the Gilded Age. Downstairs is Baker House, open-to-the-public and well-reviewed restaurant and bar, and upstairs are the guest rooms and private lounge. Visitors will find modern amenities like free Wi-Fi, steam showers, heated bathroom floors, and flat-screen TVs in this seemingly old-school hotel. Breakfast-in-bed and Champagne on arrival are included with the room rates.

Grand Geneva Resort & Spa
7036 Grand Geneva Way, at Hwys 50 East & 12

The four-pearl Grand Geneva Resort is the jewel in the crown of Lake Geneva's resorts. It was originally built in 1968 as a Playboy Resort. After a period of decline in the 1980's, the property was restored and polished back to its original luster. The resort has expansive grounds, 355 guest rooms, and provides fancy amenities like riding stables, a separate spa building, water park, full-size indoor basketball and tennis courts, and a climbing-wall. The main building is surrounded by two 18-hole golf courses, and a lake surrounds the backlands of the property. The location is ideal for leisure travelers and for business conferences and meetings.

Timber Ridge Lodge & Waterpark
7020 Grand Geneva Way

The Timber Ridge Lodge & Waterpark is a mid-range, family-oriented condominium-style hotel a few minutes' drive from the center of town. With an indoor/outdoor water park, a large arcade, a kids club, and daily entertainment in the hotel's cinema and activity center, the hotel makes it unlikely for children to get bored. Guests also have access to many of the facilities at the Grand Geneva Resort about one mile away, including the golf course, spa, and an extensive fitness center. The one- and two-bedroom suites with kitchens are sizable, but awkwardly laid out and generally lack charm. Wi-Fi is free, and there's a lodge-like barbecue restaurant on-site.

Harbor Shores on Lake Geneva
300 Wrigley Dr

The mid-range Harbor Shores on Lake Geneva features a great lakefront location that’s a brief walk from downtown attractions. Its 108 rooms are clean and spacious, equipped with kitchenettes, plus many have balconies with sweeping lake views -- but the bathrooms are rather small and dated. The hotel has an Italian restaurant/bar that overlooks the outdoor pool and hot tub, plus there's an indoor pool -- though it's small and a bit dank. Other amenities include a sauna, fitness center, and a free but limited continental breakfast. Rates are attractive in what can be an expensive market, especially in high season. The mid-range Mill Creek Hotel offers comparable rates, with large suites that have kitchens and whirlpool tubs, but it’s not as close to the waterfront.

The Ridge Hotel
W4240 State Road 50

The Ridge Hotel got a total renovation in 2016 that made it the newest, and perhaps hippest place in Lake Geneva. The upper-middle-range hotel now has a coffee and wine bar, a restaurant that serves regional favorites, and a cocktail terrace cafe with beautiful views of Lake Como. There are also a seasonal outdoor pool and and indoor pool, hot tub, and full-service spa. The trendy vibe doesn't continue into the rooms, which have a more classic look. All have work desks and there are suites with fireplaces and kitchenettes. Extras include free mountain bikes, though the resort fee might be a bummer for guests who aren't using them. Travelers looking to be downtown should compare rates with the Bella Vista Suites overlooking Geneva Bay.
