Privilege Aluxes
Ave Adolfo Lopez Mateos

Privilege Aluxes is an upscale, optional all-inclusive resort across the road from Playa Norte. The 124 rooms are contempora, featuring minibars, bathrobes, free small bottles of liquor, and big flat-screen TVs. Some rooms have balconies with whirlpools or private pools, kitchenettes, and/or ocean views. A flexible all-inclusive plan, four on-site restaurants -- including a reservation-required specialty spot -- a small but attractive pool with swim-up bar, and big beach club with free loungers are favorites with guests, however, the food receives mixed reviews and some rooms overlook a cemetery. Guests also have access to a spa with thermal circuit and small gym with several machines. This is an adult-oriented hotel, so families should consider the livelier, all-inclusive Mia Reef Isla Mujeres down the road.

Zoetry Villa Rolandi Isla Mujeres Cancun
Fracc. Laguna Mar SM. 7 Mza. 75 Lotes 15 y 16, Carretera Sac-Bajo

The upscale Zoetry Villa Rolandi Isla Mujeres Cancun is an all-inclusive with boutique-sized features and 35 oceanfront suites. Guest rooms are lovely and comfy, but some furnishings feel a bit simple and dated. Still, they have canopied beds, bathrobes, and personal terraces, of which most sport two-person whirlpools. The excellent Casa Rolandi restaurant has a celebrity following, plus there are a gourmet Mexican-French fusion spot with an extensive wine menu, a small bar stocked with premium booze, and casual eats for breakfast and lunch. Guests can relax on a tiny private beach, at one of the three pools, or in the spa. Kids pay the same high rate as adults, so families looking for a more kid-friendly place with additional space, consider Privileges Aluxes, though it lacks the same quiet location found here.

Casa de los Suenos
Carretera a Garrafon, Fracc. Turquesa lote 9 A y B

Casa de los Suenos is an upscale hotel at the quiet southern end of Isla Mujeres. The hotel's 10 large rooms utilize Mexican crafts to artwork create bright, memorable spaces, and there are high-end organic products in the bathrooms. Thoughtful extras like free nonalcoholic minibar drinks and freshly baked pastries on arrival contribute to the hotel's welcoming ambience. The on-site restaurant, infinity pool, and water park all offer views of the pier and turquoise waters off the coast. Although the hotel earns top marks for its atmosphere and amenities, there's no direct beach access, and some guest may find the location, a 15-minute drive from downtown, too remote.

Cabanas Maria Del Mar
Avenida Carlos Lazo 1

Hotel Cabanas Maria Del Mar is a 73-room hotel located less than a one-minute walk away from beautiful Playa Norte (North Beach). Rooms at this three-pearl hotel are simple and convenient, though decor is noticeably in need of an update. The location feels pleasantly out-of-the-way and the shops and restaurants of the island’s downtown area can be reached in less than five minutes on foot. There's a small outdoor pool and free breakfast at Buho's Restaurant, but access to Playa Norte is the hotel’s only stand-out feature. It’s worth comparing rates with nearby Playa La Media Luna, which offers more modern guest rooms.

Ixchel Beach Hotel
Miguel Hidalgo Street, North Beach, Center

Ixchel Beach Hotel is located right on the soft sands of Playa Norte (North Beach), on the northern tip of Isla Mujeres. It's a good mid-range pick for couples and families who want to spend their time on one of the island's most popular beaches or exploring the nearby downtown shops, restaurants, and nightlife. The 100 rooms and suites are clean, comfortable, and a little basic due to sparse decor, though the apartment-sized suites with kitchens and balconies are a bargain for self-catering facilities. An outdoor, nautically themed restaurant and bar, two pools, drink service on the beach, and a small gym are also on-site. This ferry port is within walking distance. The nearby Na Balam Beach Hotel -- without Wi-Fi or TVs in rooms --  is a good alternative for folks who want to disconnect while on the island.

Hotel Bahia Chac Chi
Mza 8, Smza 01, Avenida Rueda Medina Lote 12

The three-pearl Hotel Bahia Chac Chi is a favorite among young couples and small families because of its two-block proximity from the ferry port and walking distance to downtown and the beach. The 25 rooms are spacious and contemporary, though feel a bit basic due to nothing on the walls and simple furniture. Expect a balcony with or without ocean view, quality showers with multiple showerheads, automated lights and drapes, and mostly Spanish-language channels on the LED TVs. The courtyard pool is tiny but pleasant, while the lobby bar doesn't get much love. A free continental buffet breakfast, plus a casual lunch and dinner menu, are served in the top-floor restaurant. Free Wi-Fi, parking, and a welcome drink are provided. For a beachfront hotel with more of a resort feel, it's worth considering Playa Norte's Ixchel Beach Hotel

Casa Sirena Hotel
Av. Hidalgo, between Bravo and Allende, Centro

The upper-middle-range Casa Sirena Hotel is a charming six-room property near the iconic Playa Norte (North Beach). Guest rooms are thoughtfully decorated with colorful furnishings and distinctive artwork. The hotel’s peaceful location on the edge of the island’s downtown area is under a five-minute walk away from numerous buzzing restaurants, bars, and shops. Free happy hour cocktails at an impressive rooftop bar as well as free freshly prepared breakfasts are excellent perks, especially considering the hotel’s reasonable rates. But this petite hotel has few of the typical features of its pearl category -- there's no restaurant, gym, or business center. That doesn't stop the hotel from being popular, and it's often fully booked for months at a time; as an alternative, travelers can try the 20-room Marina Paraiso Hotel instead.

Marina Paraiso Hotel Isla Mujeres
Avenida Rueda Medina 491

Marina Paraiso Hotel is a three-pearl hotel located a seven-minute drive from the island’s largest beach, Playa Norte. The hotel’s 20 guest rooms are cheerful and meticulously clean, but they have dated decor. Most feature small patios overlooking the surrounding gardens. The property's marina also offers electrical hook-ups for docked boats. The hotel is set just south of the island’s main dining and shopping hub, which can be reached in a 20-minute walk. Packages available with on-site Paradise Divers are a convenient option for guests interested in doing multiple dives or certification classes during their vacation. There are two outdoor pools and a restaurant, for those who don't want to dive. It’s worth comparing rates with nearby Casa Ixchel, which offers similar amenities in addition to uninterrupted ocean views.

Hotel Plaza Almendros
Av. Hidalgo Lote 14, Sm 1, Mz. 18

Hotel Plaza Almendros is a budget hotel located along Isla Mujeres' central tourist street, Avenida Hidalgo. Although it certainly isn't the most stylish hotel on the island, this property is a solid, affordable base for guests interested in shopping, dining, and swimming. The island's largest beach, Playa Norte, is a six-minute walk from the hotel. The 39 guest rooms are incredibly dated, but have kitchenettes. Limited amenities include an outdoor pool set within a pleasant courtyard and free Wi-Fi. For a hotel with free breakfast, travelers can try the Hotel Playa La Media Luna, though as a three-pearl property, rates tend to be higher.

Mia Reef Isla Mujeres
Calle Zazil Ha s/n Int 7, Islote Yunque

The upscale Mia Reef Isla Mujeres is a trendy, all-inclusive property on its own island in Isla Mujeres. Guests love the excellent, walkable location, fun atmosphere, and private beach. Most things are covered on the all-inclusive, aside from the spa, salon, premium booze, and event space rental. All 156 rooms, villas, and suites are fresh and modern with contemporary Mexican touches, and come with free, restocked minibars, AC, free Wi-Fi, and comfy beds. Some rooms have terrace whirlpools, kitchenettes, or personal kayak and snorkel equipment. Features include a natural rock pool, kids' club, 24-hour grab-and-go cafe, and a mediocre main buffet. There are also a gourmet specialty restaurant, snack bars, and a popular taco shack, plus two bars. This is a family-friendly spot with a popular but crowded beach. For a more peaceful atmosphere, consider the similar Privileges Aluxes nearby.
