Aydinli Cave Hotel
Aydinli Mah. Aydinli Sok. No:12

The 14-room Aydinli Cave House Hotel is a mid-range, family-run guesthouse set on a hillside overlooking Göreme town and the surrounding area. Friendly and accommodating service is a real highlight here, as is an excellent breakfast that can be taken on the panoramic terrace. Atmospheric cave rooms too are impressively finished, though fairly basic and without TVs. It's a steep walk up the hill, but more than worth it for the vistas and a free drop-off and pick-up service is available. Overall it's an excellent choice for those looking for a warm and welcoming vibe -- and with rates that are also great value.

SOS Cave Hotel
Goreme Center, Aydınlı Mah. Cakmaklı Sokak No:4

The 17-room SOS Cave Hotel is a family-run, value property perched on a hillside with excellent views over the Göreme scenery. A few modern architectural touches detract from the charm of the building and the Standard rooms are very basic in decor and amenities, with dated tube TVs. More upscale rooms, however, provide a few luxuries and furnished balconies are a bonus. All in all, it's not the best hotel in the area, but the family are known for their excellent hospitality and there are few places in town with rates this affordable.

Goreme Inn Hotel
Orta Mah. Efendi Sok. No:5-6

Set slightly outside the town of Goreme up a small hill, this 15-room boutique hotel is more updated, and less rustic, than many similarly priced options in town -- though it lacks true cave rooms. Built inside and out from the same handsome, light-colored stone, the property combines the material aesthetic of the region with a plethora of tasteful trinkets and accents, including glass lanterns and large pottery items. Keep in mind that there are few property features, though the staff service is almost universally lauded by visitors. Breakfast, Wi-Fi, and bus station transfers are free.

Divan Cave House
Aydinli Mah. Gorceli Sok. No:5

Although similar to many offerings in the area, the 12-room Divan Cave House stands out on two levels: its integrated "fairy chimneys" and particularly hospitable service. Most rooms too are excellent, some featuring fireplaces and hot tubs, though a few can suffer from the usual dankness. Being set up on the hill is great for views over the town -- especially over breakfast -- though not ideal for guests with mobility issues. Rates aren't the cheapest in town, though still good value, especially for the wonderful cave suites.

Caravanserai Cave Hotel
Haci Ismail Efendi street no.13, Gaferli Mah.

The 13-room Caravanserai Cave Hotel is a typically quaint, family-run Cappadocia lodging with a welcoming, rustic vibe set in the center of Göreme town. It's a pretty simple set-up, especially in the rooms, though this is part of its appeal and it gets all the basics right -- including an especially warm welcome, a delicious free breakfast, and terraces looking out over the wonderful scenery. Don't expect much in the way of facilities or polish, but for spades of charm at very reasonable rates, this is certainly one of the better options.

Cappadocia Cave Suites
Gafferli Mah. Unlu Sokak No 19

The 36-room Cappadocia Cave Suites' main selling point is its excellent integration with the striking "fairy chimneys" the region is renowned for. The blend of these with ancient cave dwellings and modern stone buildings give a real feel of history throughout -- while rooms are well equipped with minibars, small flat-screen TVs, and (in most) nice soaking tubs. Some elements drift from shabby chic to plain shabby, and a few issues with service have been reported, though rates are excellent for the chance of sleeping in a hoodoo. For a slightly slicker, but sometimes pricier, experience check out the Anatolian Houses on the other side of town.

Grand Cave Suites
Isali Mah. Isali Cad. No:17

Grand Cave Suites is a three-pearl cave hotel with views over the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Goreme National Park. This family-run hotel has 19 spacious suites and rooms, all of which are carved from stone and feature classic Turkish decor and bathrooms with whirlpool tubs. Ideal for couples and families, the property features stunning landscape views and sits in a cobblestoned residential area. Rose Valley hikes are free, but there's no dedicated restaurant and rooms lack air-conditioning. The hotel does serve a free, locally sourced breakfast buffet that can be eaten in the cave-style breakfast room or out on the terrace. As an alternative, the pricier Doors Of Cappadocia Hotel, located a few minutes away, offers more features including a rooftop pool and a restaurant and bar.

Goreme Kaya Hotel
