Savusavu Hot Springs Hotel
Savusavu Town

Perched on a hill overlooking Savusavu Harbor, Savusavu Hot Springs Hotel is one of few value hotels in the area. Though its decor is dated and its rooms are bare bones, the hotel is a solid option for travelers on a budget. Plus, it has a beautiful pool with stunning harbor views, and is within walking distance of Savusavu’s shops and restaurants. Though its name might suggest otherwise, there are no on-site hot springs at Savusavu Hot Springs Hotel, but there are some nearby. Travelers looking for a hotel with a few more features might prefer nearby Daku Resort, which is a bit pricier and further from town, but offers nicer rooms and better amenities.

Grand Pacific Hotel
584 618 Victoria Parade

Opened in 1914, The Grand Pacific Hotel has become a symbol of Fiji over its centennial life span. Known as the Pride of Suva, the luxury hotel is continuously at the epicenter of all things important to Fiji. The Grand Pacific has hosted notable guests such as King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II, and is where the national rugby sevens team addressed the country after its historic Olympic gold medal win in 2016. The hotel is so iconic, it appears on Fiji’s 10-dollar bill. After a massive restoration in 2014, the Grand Pacific now has 113 modern rooms, a handful of restaurants and bars, and even a small spa. The hotel primarily caters to business travelers, as Suva isn’t exactly a tropical paradise. Vacationers in search of paradisiacal landscapes should check out Nanuku Auberge Resort, a luxury property about an hour from Suva.

Taveuni Palms Resort
Matei Road, Matei, Taveuni Island Fiji

Undoubtedly Taveuni’s most luxurious (and smallest) resort, Taveuni Palms offers unrivaled privacy and excellent amenities in a gorgeous natural setting. The resort’s two villas feature full kitchens and living rooms, outdoor bathrooms, private pools, and private beach access -- and come equipped with a personal seven-member staff who greet guests via song and attend to every need. Taveuni Palms’ all-inclusive made-to-order dining is some of the best we’ve ever encountered, though alcohol isn't included. Travelers who can afford to splurge on the resort’s quadruple-digit room rates won’t be disappointed with Taveuni’s stellar service and excellent array of excursions and activities. But for those who need watch the wallet, the nearby Remote Resort is another perfectly luxurious boutique all-inclusive option with a private beach and gorgeous rooms.

Beqa Lagoon Resort
Beqa Island Fiji

Seclusion and stunning marine life are the highlights at this 25-unit all-inclusive resort on Beqa Island. The upper-middle-range property offers excellent uncaged shark diving, in addition to snorkeling on the soft coral reef and free use of kayaks and stand-up paddleboards in the calm lagoon. Daily cultural activities and entertainment such as hikes, visits to the local village, fire walking, and kava ceremonies keep those on land occupied. Spacious rooms have a traditional Fijian style and some have private plunge pools, but many are showing wear and tear. The restaurant offers well-reviewed cuisine, while Bula Bar serves wine, beer, and cocktails. There's a fee for Wi-Fi but most families and couples come to unplug anyway, hence no TVs or phones. Compare rates with Wananavu Beach Resort, another popular dive hotel with more charming rooms.

Qamea Resort And Spa Fiji
Pa Matei, Ponsonby

Qamea Resort and Spa Fiji is an upscale private-island resort with a stunning natural setting. Located across a channel from Taveuni, Qamea feels worlds away from civilization. The hotel’s 17 spacious bures are scattered across the property, providing guests with ample privacy during their stay. Rooms feature modern decor with Fijian-inspired touches like thatched roofing and outdoor showers. Amenities include a small freshwater pool, a gorgeous jungle-themed spa, and an open-air restaurant. However many guests complain that the food is mediocre and menu options lack variety. If food is a priority, the nearby Remote Resort is a better option, though it tends to be pricier and doesn’t have as many on-site amenities.

Toberua Island Resort
Toberua Island Tailevu, PO Box 3332 Nausori

Located on a four-acre private island off of Fiji’s eastern coast, Toberua Island Resort and Spa feels worlds away from civilization. The three-and-a-half pearl resort has 15 authentic Fijian bures, with thatched roofs, large front porches, and semi-outdoor bathrooms — all of which are waterfront. Features include multiple beaches, a mid-size pool, excellent dining, a small spa, free water sports, and a dive shop. But the real draw here is the warm hospitality offered by the resort’s managers and staff members. Guests return to Toberua year after year in order to see beloved staff members and catch up on local happenings. This “home away from home” feel is ideal for travelers seeking a low-key Fijian escape. Those seeking something a bit more glamorous might prefer Paradise Cove Resort in Fiji’s Yasawa chain of islands, though it tends to be more expensive.

Viwa Island Resort
Viwa Island

Viwa Island Resort is a remote four-pearl property located in Fiji’s stunning Yasawa Islands chain. Catering to adults 16 and older, Viwa has a quiet, laid-back atmosphere that’s perfect for travelers who want to relax. But, for guests seeking an active vacation, there are also plenty of activities to take part in around the island. The hotel’s 11 beachfront bures are mere steps from the waves, but the pool and the rooms aren't incredibly designed. Viwa has excellent on-site dining, and offers different meals plans for travelers seeking all-inclusive rates. Viwa has an awesome tight-knit community atmosphere, thanks to its involved owners and hospitable staff. Travelers seeking similar hospitality might prefer Paradise Cove Resort, which has nicer rooms and more amenities, but it's family-friendly, so it may seem a little chaotic for couples.

Nukubati Private Island
The Great Sea Reef, P.O.Box 1928

If a stunning private island retreat with an authentic Fijian feel is at the top of your wish list, there’s no better bet than Nukubati Private Island. The four-pearl, adult-only property is situated on a tiny island off the coast of Vanua Levu. It’s a challenge to reach, but the resort’s serene atmosphere and authentic Fijian hospitality are hard to beat. Plus, spacious rooms feature island-inspired decor, and the all-inclusive dining is superb. Nukubati doesn’t have a pool, or other amenities like a spa or fitness center, and rooms’ lack of air-conditioning might not appeal to all travelers. As an alternative, Namale the Fiji Island Resort & Spa is a sprawling luxury property with a laundry list of amenities, but it lacks Nukubati’s intimate atmosphere and warm hospitality.
