Hampton Inn & Suites Denver Downtown
1845 N Sherman St

A great value for downtown Denver, the mid-range Hampton Inn and Suites Denver-Downtown is a clean chain hotel in the North Capitol Hill area, within a 10-minute walk of 16th Street Mall and near several restaurants and bars. Rooms are colorful and spacious, if lacking in personality, and are equipped with microwaves and coffee machines. With free breakfast, Wi-Fi, a pool, and a fitness center, it is an ideal hotel for both business travelers and families visiting downtown Denver.

Homewood Suites by Hilton Denver Downtown-Convention Center

Sharing a 12-floor building with the Hilton's Hampton Inn, this four-pearl Homewood Suites is in a prime downtown location, within a block of the Convention Center and 16th Street Mall. The 182 studio-apartment-style rooms come with separate living rooms and kitchenettes, which appeals to long-term guests who plan to do their own cooking. Guests can use the facilities of the attached Hampton Inn, which include an indoor pool, gym, bar and casual restaurant, and meeting spaces, and a free hot buffet breakfast.

Homewood Suites Denver International Airport

The 117-suite, mid-range Homewood Suites Denver International Airport is a step above typical airport properties in its class. Its clean and spacious suites provide the comforts of home with separate living rooms and full kitchens. Free parking, 24-hour airport shuttle, hot breakfast, and weekday social hour snacks add value, and a large indoor pool, whirlpool, and fitness center are attractive amenities. Choices abound in the immediate area that offer somewhat similar amenities and rates, including the adjacent Hampton Inn & Suites Denver/Airport Gateway Park and the Staybridge Suites Denver International Airport, about five miles away.

Queen Anne Bed & Breakfast
2147 Tremont Pl

The upper-middle-range Queen Anne Bed & Breakfast is a family-run boutique hotel with 13 spacious, individually designed rooms -- many with hot tubs -- in a peaceful and convenient location on the edge of downtown Denver. The historic building has been lovingly restored, and the owners have placed praiseworthy focus on an eco-friendly, locally sustainable approach. The free made-to-order breakfast is a highlight, and a free daily happy hour of wines and snacks allows guests to socialize with one another. However, there’s no other meal or drinks service, and kids under 12 aren’t allowed (a plus for some). Wi-Fi and parking are free. The slightly pricier three-pearl Castle Marne Bed & Breakfast has a downtown location and offers candlelit dinners.

Grand Hyatt Denver Downtown

The 516-room Grand Hyatt Denver is an upscale business hotel in downtown Denver, close to a number of attractions and business offices. Rooms are modern and fresh, and offer flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and coffeemakers, and some have outstanding views. The rooftop wellness area is a standout, with an outdoor jogging track, tennis court, and sundeck, plus a gym and heated indoor pool. With a restaurant and bar serving craft brews plus a Starbucks, there are a number of options for dining and drinking. Events and conferences are big business here, and the Pinnacle Club has panoramic views of the city and Rocky Mountain Front Range. Alternatively, those looking for a more intimate boutique should consider the Magnolia Hotel Denver, where rates are higher but breakfast and happy hour are free.

Embassy Suites by Hilton Denver Tech Center North
7525 E Hampden Ave

The three-and-a-half-pearl Embassy Suites by Hilton Denver Southeast is an attractive choice for travelers who want easy access to the city's Tech Center, and for those who don’t mind staying well outside downtown. Fresh from an extensive renovation completed in mid-2016, the Embassy features a free hot breakfast and evening manager’s reception, an on-site restaurant and bar, and an indoor pool and gym, plus a 24-hour business center and event space for up to 500 people. The 205 two-room Suites are modern and spacious, with sleeper sofas, mini-fridges, wet bars, microwaves, and coffeemakers, but Wi-Fi is free only to Hilton Honors members. Those looking for an upscale property that's closer to downtown can consider Warwick Denver Hotel.

The Westin Denver Downtown

The Westin Denver Downtown, conveniently located next to the 16th Street Pedestrian Mall, is quite like a Westin anywhere, with contemporary but generic rooms and a bevy of solid amenities. Chief among those is a heated indoor/outdoor pool with sundeck that offers lovely views of Downtown Denver and the Rockies far off in the distance. The Westin also offers a variety of dining options (including a Palm steakhouse on-site), 32,000 square feet of meeting space, a fitness center, and a nightly Unwind Hour where guests receive free local microbrews and spa amenities. The Hyatt Regency Denver and Grand Hyatt Denver offer comparable hotel experiences, so it's worth comparing rates.

The Curtis Denver - a DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel

The 336-room Curtis DoubleTree by Hilton may be a mid-range hotel, but it's fun and kid-friendly, with themed floors -- including the TV Mania floor and the Floor of Champions -- and a great downtown location. Rooms are modern but a bit bland, and walls are thin.

Baymont by Wyndham Denver International Airport
6805 N. Argonne Street

The Baymont Inn & Suites Denver International Airport offers attractive rates and modern facilities, situated among a cluster of similar limited-service hotels near the airport. The two-and-a-half-pearl property opened in 2010, and features an indoor pool and fitness center, and ample freebies including a hot buffet breakfast, 24-hour round-trip airport shuttle, and Wi-Fi throughout. Its 128 guest rooms are spacious and pleasant with contemporary decor and colorful accents, and all have flat-screen TVs and coffeemakers, but unlike most other hotels in the area, microwaves and mini-fridges don't come as standard. The nearby Ramada Denver International Airport has comparable rates, free breakfast, and spacious guest rooms equipped with sleeper sofas, microwaves, mini-fridges, and surprisingly attractive marble bathrooms.

Holiday Inn Express Denver Downtown
401 17th St

The 231-room Holiday Inn Express Denver Downtown is a mid-range property located in the middle of Denver’s financial district. Having undergone a complete renovation in 2015, the hotel offers spotless interiors with fresh and modern, but generic, decor. Apart from a 24-hour fitness center and free hot breakfast, there are few extra features, but guests can use the amenities of the next door Brown Palace Hotel and Spa (including its spa facilities, restaurant, and concierge services), which can be easily reached via a sky bridge. A better value hotel could be the three-pearl Hilton Garden Inn Denver Downtown, which offers similar rates, but more amenities, including a swimming pool, hot tub, and on-site restaurant and cafe.
