Much of the three-pearl beachfront hotel's energy is devoted to extensive amenities, including a pool, garden, restaurant, and bar, while the 143 guest rooms and suites cover only the basics, apart from the balconies and sea views. But few spend much time in the rooms beyond sleeping and prepping for an evening of dining, drinking, and karaoke. The same goes for the entire resort area, with the addition of several water and fun parks for kids. For similar amenities but a bit more history, aim for the Hotel Imperial at the south end of the beach, just outside the ancient town of Nessebar.

Located adjacent to Bansko Ski Resort (a two-minute walk away), the luxury ski-in, ski-out Kempinski property caters toward those who are looking to hit the slopes but want plenty to do after. The highlight of the property, aside from its proximity to the cable car, is the wellness area, which houses multiple features like hammams, saunas, hot tubs, and ice rooms, plus a great gym and multiple pools. Food at the property is consistently good, including the free breakfast, and a few bars provide options for an apres-ski cocktail. If you can splurge, it's undoubtedly the best-located property in the city for skiers. Travelers looking for something a bit cheaper might look at the lovely Regnum Bansko Apart Hotel & Spa.
