Hotel Prinsenhof Bruges
Ontvangersstraat 9

The upper-mid-range Hotel Prinsenhof Bruges has an excellent central location and is within walking distance to shops, attractions, and restaurants. Rooms are updated with contemporary floral decor but have retained their historical charm and the bathrooms are modern and large. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout and the hotel is pet-friendly; however, pets incur a daily fee. There is on-site parking (for a fee) but some rooms receive parking area noise. This hotel does not have a fitness center, meeting rooms, or spa, but there is a lovely outdoor terrace, business center, and free guided tours.

Hotel Dukes' Palace Bruges
Prinsenhof 8

Hotel Dukes' Palace is one of the top luxury hotels in Bruges, and offers a luxurious experience throughout, from the doormen service to the tasty breakfast buffet (which is a highlight). The 110 rooms are classic in style with features such as beautiful paintings, dramatic curtains, and chandeliers -- though double beds are made up of two beds pushed together. Features include a fitness center, spa with sauna, a fine dining restaurant, and a stylish lounge. The hotel has six venues for hosting events, making it a good pick for business travelers. In warm weather, guests can enjoy the outdoor terrace that looks out on the beautiful garden area. But if having extensive property features on hand isn't a priority, guests may also want to consider the nearby Hotel Heritage, or the Relais Bourgondisch Cruyce, an upscale hotel overlooking the Dijver Canal.

Hotel Bla Bla
Dweersstraat 24

Hotel Bla Bla is a modern but no-frills budget hotel housed in an historic Flemish building on a pleasant cobbled street in central Bruges. The location means all the main tourist attractions are within walking distance, as is the main train station. While rooms are small, they're clean and comfortable, and many have views of the surrounding historic streets; though noisy floorboards can be an issue and the mobility-challenged would struggle with the stairs. While it's cheap and breakfast is included (unusual for Bruges), it's not an amazing value -- especially compared to the similarly priced Hotel de Goezeput nearby -- but the hotel is a solid budget option, nonetheless.

Huis Koning
Oude Zak 25

It may be hard to land a room at the Huis Koning hotel -- as it's a favorite among visitors and only has three rooms -- but it is worth the extra effort. Guests rave about all the little extra touches the thoughtful owners offer including in-room desserts and high-end bathroom toiletries. Located on a quaint street next to a canal, the B&B is in a historic house that feels more like an elegant home than a hotel. A tasty breakfast with homemade items is provided daily in a bright room, and an outdoor terrace has charming views of a canal. If visitors are unable to secure a room at the hotel, another option is Hotel Jan Brito, an elegant 16th-century hotel with a bar and free breakfast.

Hotel Heritage - Relais & Chateaux
11 Niklaas Desparsstraat

The 22-room Hotel Heritage - Relais & Chateaux is a grand boutique, designed with historical restoration in mind. The city center location allows guests to walk to restaurants, shops, and attractions while the soundproofing keeps the atmosphere intimate and quiet. Common areas and rooms are beautifully decorated in antique fabrics with plush armchairs. Special extras such as fresh fruit, champagne, and iPads set the rooms apart from competition and make guests feel welcome. The on-site restaurant and bar receive excellent reviews and the wellness center with sauna and steam bath is a standout feature. A wonderful rooftop terrace offers views of the city and there’s free Wi-Fi, though parking has a daily fee.

Adornes
Sint-Annarei 26

The Adornes is a 20-room, mid-range, historic hotel in a choice location away from the bustle of the city center, but still within walking distance of restaurants, shops, public transportation, and tourist attractions. Rooms do not have air-conditioning and include only the essentials, but there are charming antique accents such as wood beams that make the space feel cozy and welcoming. Noise may be an issue for front-facing rooms, though there are beautiful views of the Potterierei Canal and other historic buildings from this vantage point. There is free breakfast, Wi-Fi, and parking; however, the Wi-Fi is only available in public areas and the parking is off-site. This hotel is pet-friendly (daily fee) and offers free rental bikes and an advantage card for discounts on attractions.

Grand Hotel Casselbergh Bruges
Hoogstraat 6

The historic Grand Hotel Casselbergh Bruges is a spacious and charming hotel with an amazing downtown location. It’s within walking distance of restaurants, shops, public transportation, and attractions. The property is full of character and includes original, historic touches such as fireplaces and exposed wood beams. Rooms are big and quiet with antique details and beautiful, modern bathrooms, but some rooms pick up street noise and in rooms with vaulted ceilings, the wood beams can be a touch low. There is free Wi-Fi, on-site parking (for a fee), an excellent breakfast at the restaurant, and a wellness center that offers massages.

Hotel Academie
Wijngaardstraat 7-9

The mid-range Academie Hotel is centrally located on a quiet street away from loud city noises, but still within walking distance of attractions, restaurants, shops, and public transportation. This historic hotel has vaulted ceilings with original brick in addition to a bright indoor Winter Garden and quaint outdoor courtyard. Rooms are mostly updated in style but sizes vary, and include seating areas, mini-fridges, electric kettles, and flat-screen TVs. An on-site bar/lounge is intimate and there is a good breakfast served in a pretty breakfast room daily. Free Wi-Fi is available, but only in public areas, and on-site parking incurs a daily fee.

Hotel De Tuilerieen
Dijver 7

The 45-room Hotel De Tuilerieen mixes the historical and the contemporary in an upscale way, creating a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere throughout. It is in the heart of Bruges on the Dijver Canal and within walking distance to restaurants, shops, and attractions; however, this sometimes results in noise reaching the rooms. Grand furniture, pops of color, and thoughtful extras decorate the elegant yet modern rooms and the bathrooms are large and appealing. Original features can be seen throughout the hotel and there is free Wi-Fi, a wellness center, and butler service by request. On-site parking is available, but costs a daily fee, and the breakfast, although wonderful, is expensive. This hotel is also pet-friendly and has a gorgeous indoor pool with a skylight, a rare find in the city.

Hotel Jan Brito
Freren Fonteinstraat 1

The 37-room Hotel Jan Brito is an upscale hotel with elegant decor set in a beautifully renovated 16th-century building. Outside, there is a charming garden with gravel paths and an impressive stone fountain. Free breakfast is served in a sophisticated dining room and there’s a small bar on-site in a pretty parlor. The hotel is in a quiet location within walking distance to the center of town, but there’s no parking (unlike at the Hotel Heritage). The rooms are elegant and classic, with minibars and free Wi-Fi. Guests may also want to consider the similarly priced Huis Koning, a charming, sought-after B&B next to a private canal.
