Hotel - Restaurant Weinebrugge
Leikendreef 1

The upper-middle-range Best Western Premier Weinebrugge offers a peaceful stay in a small countryside village away from the bustle of the city (the hotel has a shuttle -- for a fee -- to the Bruges city center). There isn’t much within walking distance and there is no public transportation near the hotel, but there are many scenic walking trails around to explore the countryside. Guest rooms are modern with subdued palettes, electric kettles, and small flat-screen TVs plus gorgeous tile bathrooms. A rooftop terrace has views of the property and there is a marvelous outdoor garden and terrace area. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel and there is a free daily breakfast and free parking.

Hotel Ter Brughe
Oost-Gistelhof 2

Housed in a medieval warehouse that dates back to the 15th century, the Hotel Ter Brughe is an intimate, sedate hotel overlooking one of Bruges's oldest canals. While the hotel is imbued with a real sense of the past, some areas can feel a little dusty and dated -- especially in the lower category rooms. A pleasant first-floor terrace and atmospheric medieval breakfast room both stand out, though the historic nature of the building means there's no elevator and showers are sit-down only. If its historical quirks and old-fashioned ambience don't deter, rates are reasonable for a stay providing real slice of Bruges history.

Green Park Hotel Brugge
Chartreuseweg 20

An inexpensive option for those with a car, the 101-room Green Park Hotel Brugge is a mid-range, chain hotel in the countryside far from public transportation. The hotel offers a variety of amenities including badminton, table tennis, and an outdoor pool in a pretty forested area. For young children, there is an indoor play room and an outdoor playground. The rooms are basic with inexpensive furnishings, but clean and spacious with free Wi-Fi, electric kettles, and wall-mounted flat-screen TVs. Being three miles outside the city, the hotel is cheaper than others in town and offers a peaceful country retreat.

Hotel Ter Duinen
Langerei 52

The historical 20-room Hotel Ter Duinen is a mid-range, family-owned hotel with a bed and breakfast atmosphere. There is a beautiful glassed-in conservatory lounge with views of a pretty patio garden, full of flowers, shrubs, and seating. Rooms are minimalist and modern with historic details like exposed wood beams while bathrooms are contemporary and stylish. Near the city center of Bruges, this hotel is within walking distance to attractions, restaurants, and shops, and there is free Wi-Fi throughout. Parking in front of the hotel is free, but private parking costs a daily fee. There is no fitness center on-site and the main entrance closes at night (guests must use a side entrance with a key to get back in).

Bonobo Apartments
Goezeputstraat 5

The Bonobo Apart Hotel is an all-apartment hotel with 11 guestrooms, housed in a typically quaint building on a quiet cobbled street in historic Bruges. The location is excellent, with all of the city's main tourist attractions well within walking distance. Apartments are clean and modern, most with fully equipped kitchens, and a breakfast service is available for those without. A flower-filled courtyard makes a pleasant place to relax, and the owners are particularly welcoming and attentive. All in all, for simple and affordable apartment accommodation in a prime Bruges location, you can't do much better than this.

Hotel The Peellaert
Hoogstraat 20

Renovated in 2010, the 50-room Oud Huis de Peellaert is a classic, upscale hotel with grand features like marble steps and chandeliers. It is in an excellent location for exploring Bruges, near both Market Square and Town Hall. Beautiful antique furnishings give spaces such as the bar and lobby an aristocratic air, and thoughtful room amenities include L’Occitane bath products, in-room electric kettles, and stocked minibars. The hotel has a small fitness center in a cellar as well as a sauna. Guests looking for an even more intimate experience may want to look into Huis Koning, a charming, three-room B&B next to a canal.

Relais Bourgondisch Cruyce - Luxe Worldwide Hotel
Wollestraat 41 - 47

Offering one of the best views in Bruges, the 16-room Relais Bourgondisch Cruyce - Luxe Worldwide Hotel is a charming upscale boutique overlooking the bend of the Dijver Canal. The polished rooms have beautiful features like exposed beam ceilings, distressed wood floors, and pretty floral curtains. There’s no proper bar or full restaurant on-site, but the hotel serves breakfast in a lovely room with adjacent patio seating offering views of the canal. Those who would prefer a larger hotel with more features should consider the similarly priced Kempinski Hotel Dukes' Palace, which has a full restaurant and bar on-site as well as a fitness center and spa.

Pand Hotel Small Luxury Hotel
Pandreitje 16

In a beautiful location near the canal, the 26-room Pand Hotel is a popular upscale, chain hotel in a quiet spot not far from the main tourist destinations in Bruges. The rooms are charming and traditionally elegant, though some are more polished than others. There aren’t a lot of extra amenities at the hotel, but there is a tiny bar, and a full breakfast is served in a bright, flowery room with a skylight. Guests looking for more amenities in a less intimate environment may want to consider the Hotel Dukes Palace, which has a full restaurant on-site as well as a small fitness center and spa.

NH Brugge
Boeveriestraat 2

Occupying a 17th-century monastery, the NH Brugge looks quaint from the outside, though dated interiors and modern add-ons detract from the picturesque first impression. Its position is particularly convenient, however, as it's easily accessed by car, train, and especially bus -- and is also just 10 minutes' walk from Bruges' medieval center. Room quality can vary, with Standard Rooms looking tired and higher-tier rooms and suites finished with higher-end, period-inspired furniture. A cozy bar with a fireplace makes for a very pleasant place to unwind with a Belgian beer, and the restaurant caters to both families and business guests. Overall, rates are very competitive, but the hotel lacks the charm of many of the city's historic lodgings.

Cote Canal
Hertsbergestraat 10

The Côté Canal hotel is a luxury bed-and-breakfast awash with historical charm and traditional elegance in the heart of medieval Bruges. Set between a cobbled street and the picturesque Dijver canal, the hotel couldn't be better placed, and the main tourist attractions are just minutes away. Rooms are spacious and elegantly decorated with genuine antique furnishings, while breakfast is particularly good -- especially when taken in the garden overlooking the canal. While rates are certainly on the higher end, they still represent good value for this outstanding, and unique, guesthouse.
