Kerry Hotel Beijing
No.1 Guanghua Road, Chaoyang District

Located smack in the middle of Beijing's busy Central Business District, the Kerry Hotel Beijing is an enormous luxury business hotel. Features include five bars and restaurants, and extensive indoor fitness facilities like a gigantic gym, tennis courts, and a large lap pool. The 485 rooms and suites are large and contemporary, with chic marble bathrooms, and many have excellent views of the city, particularly the Club Rooms and some of the higher-floor suites. Though most guests here are business travelers drawn in by the location and extensive meeting facilities, the Kerry has a wide range of kid-friendly amenities, including a splash pool and a huge indoor play area. Still, tourists looking for something closer to the main attractions may be better off at the Waldorf Astoria Beijing near Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City.

Fairmont Beijing
No.8 Yong'an Dongli, Jianguo Menwai Main Street, Chaoyang District

Located in Beijing's central business district, just a block north of the Tonghui River, the Fairmont Beijing is a luxury chain hotel with a polished atmosphere and an excellent spa. The 222 rooms and suites are elegantly decorated with a few Chinese touches and have large marble bathrooms with flat-screen TVs designed to be viewed from separate soaking tubs. Other features include a Champagne bar, a steakhouse, and an all-day casual restaurant with buffets at breakfast and lunch. An indoor swimming pool, modern fitness center, and large spa provide a nice number of wellness options as well. Overall, it's an excellent choice for business travelers needing easy access to local offices, but tourists wanting to be closer to attractions near Tiananmen Square may prefer staying at the Waldorf Astoria instead.

Hotel Eclat Beijing
Floor 16-21, No. 9 Dongdaqiao Road Parkview Green FangCaoDi, Chaogyang District

The Hotel Eclat Beijing is a luxury boutique-meets-business hotel with 100 rooms and suites. This art-focused property is located in the Central Business District's iconic Parkview Green development, making it convenient for business travelers, though a bit far to major tourist sights. Rooms are chic and include Bang & Olufsen stereos and Illy coffeemakers. Many of the suites are exuberantly themed and have private terraces with plunge pools, a boon given that despite having a nice fitness center, there's no swimming pool or spa. While there are a couple of event spaces, meeting facilities here are a bit slim -- business travelers looking to host large events may want to check out the Kerry Hotel Beijing, which offers three floors of event space as well as huge ballrooms.

The Opposite House
Building 1, No.11 Sanlitun Road

The Opposite House is an artsy luxury boutique hotel with ultra-modern appeal that's located in the Taikoo Li Sanlitun commercial area, amid shops and restaurants. Designed by Kengo Kuma, this hotel's 99 minimalistic rooms are done almost entirely in luxe hardwood, right down to the oak soaking tubs in the sleek, contemporary bathrooms. Amenities include a sharp indoor lap pool, a modern fitness center, a bar, and three restaurants serving Chinese and international cuisine. A limited amount of vegetarian food is available and the all-day Village Cafe even has a kids' menu. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property, but there's only one meeting room. Business travelers looking for more event space may be better off staying at the larger and better-equipped Fairmont instead.

New World Beijing Hotel
No.8 Qi'nian Street, Chongwenmen, Dongcheng District

Designed with both business and leisure travelers in mind, this centrally located option in Dongcheng delivers everything you’d expect from a contemporary luxury hotel. For starters, the 309 tech-savvy rooms have calming, clean-lined decor and envy-inducing marble bathrooms with deep tubs tailor-made for soaking. Upper-end categories come with other noteworthy extras, like access to a posh club lounge where guests can take advantage of free food and drinks. The hotel also includes multiple restaurants, meeting rooms, and a health club that features an indoor pool, fitness center, and spa facilities. All that’s missing is brand-name cachet. If that matters, Beijing has a Grand Hyatt (also in Dongcheng) plus a Four Seasons and a pair of Shangri-La hotels to choose from.

NUO Hotel Beijing
No.2A Jiangtai Road, Chaoyang District

Gleaming with polished marble surfaces and contemporary decor, the NUO Hotel Beijing is a modern luxury property. Features are impressive, with several varied dining options including an atmospheric Chinese tea house, two bars, and impressive wellness facilities such as an attractive indoor pool, gym, and luxurious spa. The 438 tastefully decorated rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows and an array of mod-cons, including flat-screen TVs, Nespresso machines, and Bose speakers, plus marble bathrooms with soaking tubs and separate rainfall showers. Suites add living rooms and some have kitchens. Location isn't the greatest for those seeking to explore the city; it's about a 40-minute drive to the center. Travelers who prefer proximity to the Forbidden City and Business District should consider the Rosewood Beijing -- though prices are higher.
