Pimann Buri Pool Villas Ao Nang Krabi
618 Moo 2, Ao Nang Sub-District

The eight-unit Pimann Buri Pool Villas Ao Nang Krabi is an upscale and secluded boutique resort in suburban Ao Nang, about a 10-minute drive from the beach. All accommodations are modern and spacious gated villas, with either one, two, or three bedrooms. Every villa has a full kitchen, a living room, and a fully enclosed garden with a private swimming pool. Guests here enjoy an exceptionally high level of service, including free airport/pier pick-ups and free made-to-order breakfast served in the villas. Guests can also opt to eat breakfast in the restaurant, a casual bistro that is open all day. The location is nearly an hour's walk from the beach, but the hotel provides free on-demand shuttle service throughout the day. By comparison, Aonang Phu Petra Resort, Krabi Thailand is closer to both town and Krabi's iconic cliffs, but it can't compete with Pimann Buri's privacy and service.

Centra by Centara Phu Pano Resort Krabi
879 Moo 2, Soi Ao Nang 11

Opened in 2016, the mid-range Centra by Centara Phu Pano Resort Krabi is a modern chain alternative to the many faded hotels packed along Ao Nang’s main road. The 158 rooms and suites, though compact compared to other hotel rooms, are minimalist and sharp and come with free bottled water, flat-screen TVs, and private balconies. The hotel's good-sized pool faces the sheer rock face of the mountains, and the open restaurant serves all meals, including an extensive free breakfast buffet. Centra is set a short way's down a side road off of Ao Nang's main road, about a 20-minute walk from the beach. (Free hotel shuttle service is available.) Visitors wanting a modern option closer to the beach -- and willing to pay more -- could try Panan Krabi Resort.

BlueSotel Krabi
778 Moo 2

Opened in 2016, BlueSotel Krabi is a sleek hotel for international groups, families, and couples, about a 10-minute walk from Ao Nang Beach. The 130 contemporary rooms have balconies, flat-screen TVs, and separate showers and tubs in the bathrooms. Fourteen units have direct access into BlueSotel's large pool, which has a swim-up bar, a jetted area, and a deep patio with shaded loungers. Elsewhere at the hotel, there are business facilities (a conference room and lobby computers), a spa for massages and facials, and an all-day restaurant with outdoor seating. Some of BlueSotel's top-floor rooms have sea views, but guests wanting to be even closer to the beach could look into the more dated and worn Golden Beach Resort.

Vogue Resort & Spa Ao Nang
244 Moo 2

On a relatively busy commercial street winding through Krabi's signature limestone karst cliffs, this 78-room, upper-middle-range resort is a short walk from Ao Nang Beach. The resort is an older property, though modernization is in progress, and rooms are spacious and include air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and minibars. The on-site restaurant has a trendy bistro and wine bar vibe and there is an outdoor pool plus a small but fantastic spa. Guests looking for more thoroughly contemporary lodging with a large outdoor pool should consider the Centara Anda Dhevi Resort, though it will be more pricey and is farther from the beach.

Buri Tara Resort
159/1 Moo 3

Buri Tara Resort is a mid-range value resort smack-dab between Ao Nang and Nopparatara beaches. Its 70 rooms have lovely jewel-toned color schemes, plus amenities like minibars, free Wi-Fi, and balconies or terraces, some of which lead directly into the pool with a swim-up bar. Other common features include an all-day restaurant and a room for communal Thai massages, though there is no workout area. The resort is a good bet for its low prices, solid features, and convenient location between the two beaches (busy Ao Nang and sleepier Nopparatara). Note that the hotel is slightly set back from the beach road and any views of the water are blocked by a small mountain; for a beachfront property, look into Krabi Resort, though its starting rates are twice as much.

Ao-Nang Sunset Hotel
268 Moo 2, Ao Nang Beach

The two-and-a-half-pearl, 44-room Ao-Nang Sunset Hotel offers tourists simple lodgings and a convenient location. It's a three-minute walk from Ao Nang Beach, with plenty of shops, bars, and restaurants in the surrounding area. Rooms are nothing fancy, but fine for a short stay, equipped with chunky wooden furniture, air-conditioning, en-suite bathrooms, and furnished balconies -- some with nice pool views. The small outdoor pool has a decked terrace and relaxed atmosphere, with a few sun loungers for tanning. There's an all-day Thai and European restaurant at the front of the property with outdoor seating, serving a generous breakfast buffet for a reasonable fee. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property. Families with small children might prefer the AoNang Villa Resort, which adds a beachfront location and excellent family-friendly facilities.

Holiday Inn Resort Krabi Ao Nang Beach
123 Moo 3

The mid-range Holiday Inn Krabi Ao Nang Beach is hands-down the most family-friendly spot in the Andaman region. Family and Kids Suites have kid-size showers, and some rooms have private access to the communal pool. The hotel has the area's largest kids' club, and among the three huge swimming pools, one is completely designed for children, with waterslides, a playground, and plenty of shallow water. Couples will appreciate a swim-up bar and free breakfast buffet, along with a dedicated Couples Wing and adults-only pool. The Holiday Inn Krabi sits right across from the beach in the middle of the Ao Nang and Noppharat Tara Beach Road, but it's more suitable for sunsets than sunbathing. For the price, the resort offers excellent value for Ao Nang.

Aonang Phu Petra Resort, Krabi Thailand
521 Soi 11 Moo 2 Tumbol Aonang, Ampur Muang

Although the small and quiet Aonang Phu Petra Resort sits a mere five minutes' from the main road through Ao Nang town, it feels worlds away. Surrounded by limestone karst mountains and plenty of greenery, this quiet, four-pearl spot is a welcome retreat from the noisy Ao Nang scene. 25 bungalows are spacious and have pleasant terraces to sit on, but mosquitoes can be an issue. Rooms set around the central swimming pool feel less private than those on the hillside. Free breakfast and Wi-Fi are nice perks.

Red Ginger Chic Resort
168 Moo 3 T. Ao Nang a. Maung, Krabi, Thailand

Decked out in red tones, with an ambient lobby and large happening pool area, the cutting-edge Red Ginger Chic Resort is about as fashionable and boutique a property as you will find in Ao Nang. Rooms come with stylish robes, beach baskets, free Wi-Fi, and satellite TV, and all come with pool views or direct pool access. The swimming pool and its trendy pool bar are the centerpiece of the resort, and there's a meeting room and a fitness room but they're small. The mid-range resort is just minutes from the beach and plenty of drinking and dining choices in central Ao Nang.

Sunda Resort
19 Moo 3, Muang Krabi

The 48-room Sunda Resort offers peace and quiet in a tropical setting about a 10-minute drive away from the crowds of Ao Nang. Not a place for partygoers, this three-pearl property is for those looking for a low-key hideaway. The bungalow-style rooms come with cable (tube-style TVs, no flat-screens), mini-fridges, air-conditioning, coffeemakers, and terraces or balconies. The resort has two swimming pools, including a section for kids, and free Wi-Fi, along with motor bike rental and plenty of planked walkways that cut through the property. Rooms are small and basic; lime-green, hot-pink, and orange accent walls break up the monotony and add cheer. More boutique-style lodgings with more amenities are available right in town, though, for about the same price. Since the Sunda Resort serves a large number of Malaysian travelers, its small, covered outdoor restaurant is strictly halal, and does not serve alcohol or pork. The hotel runs a free shuttle service to the beach at scheduled times throughout the day.
