Emporio Acapulco Hotel
Avenida Costera Miguel Aleman 121, Fracc Magallanes

Emporio Acapulco Hotel is a three-and-a-half pearl hotel located in Acapulco’s Golden Zone. Set in the heart of the city’s nightlife and entertainment scene, the hotel offers direct access to Acapulco Bay and popular Playa Condesa. Its 422 rooms are cheerful and well-maintained overall, but the bathrooms and furniture could use an update. The three pools are gorgeous; two are reserved for adults and the third has a fun pirate ship. The restaurants are nice enough if a bit bland in terms of both food and decor. It’s worth comparing rates with the nearby Crowne Plaza Acapulco, which has similar amenities.

Princess Mundo Imperial
Av. Costera de las Palmas S/n, Fracc. Granjas del Marquez, Playa Revolcadero

The Princess Mundo Imperial, formerly Fairmont Acapulco Princess, is a four-pearl resort located on a large, garden-filled property, seven miles from downtown. The hotel’s 1,011 rooms and suites are located in three towers. Rooms in the Pearl Tower are gorgeous, while those in the other two are in need of a refresh. The resort offers a dizzying array of restaurants, pools, and entertainment options, particularly if you count the facilities of its two sister properties, which guests can also use. The resort itself is buzzing with activity, yet some may find its location too far away from the downtown nightlife scene and there’s virtually nothing within walking distance. It’s worth considering the Fiesta Americana Villas Acapulco for its more central location, or the neighboring Pierre Mundo Imperial for its more intimate atmosphere.

Pierre Mundo Imperial
Costera de las Palmas S/N, Col Granjas del Marquez

The Pierre Mundo Imperial, formerly Fairmont Pierre Marques, is an upscale hotel located in Acapulco’s secluded Diamante district. Its 229 guest rooms are large and offer views of the coast or the landscaped property, but the decor is drab and old-fashioned. Highlights include four superb restaurants, three beautiful pools, and direct access to Playa Revolcadero, one of the area’s prettiest beaches. For an extra charge, guests can use the facilities at two sister resorts, thus providing the advantages of a mega-resort without the chaotic atmosphere that comes along with it. As an alternative, Fiesta Americana Villas Acapulco is an option for guests who want to be closer to downtown, but its beach isn’t as nice.

Camino Real Acapulco Diamante
Carretera Escenica Km 14 Baja Catita S/N, Fracc. Pichilingue Diamante

Camino Real Acapulco Diamante is a family-friendly, three-and-a-half pearl oceanfront hotel on stunning Puerto Marques Bay. The 157 guest rooms have modern interiors with marble floors accents, big flat-screen TVs, and ocean-view balconies with phenomenal views. There’s a small private beach with a swim-out floating platform, plus three freshwater pools (including one designed for kids) with amazing views and lots of lounge chairs. The hotel’s two restaurants (three during high season) get mixed reviews and are expensive, but the breakfast buffet is a huge spread. Other amenities include a full-service spa and salon, a gym, a kids' club, and a lobby bar. Another oceanfront alternative with multiple pools, a kids' club, and gorgeous beach and ocean-view rooms, is the Grand Hotel Acapulco

HS HOTSSON Smart Acapulco
Av. Costera Miguel Aleman No. 1803, Fracc.Magallanes

Formerly Crowne Plaza Acapulco, Gran Plaza Hotel Acapulco is a three-and-a-half-pearl hotel located in the city’s Golden Zone. Backing onto the sands of Acapulco Bay, the hotel is surrounded by shops, restaurants, bars, and beach-related activities. Guest rooms are appealing and the facilities are modern, but the crowds and generic decor are on par with mid-range expectations. Highlights include a swim-up bar in the sprawling pool complex, a modern fitness center, and live music. The atmosphere is perfect for those interested in high-energy activities and parties, but guests seeking romance and privacy aren’t going to find it here. Nearby Fiesta Americana Villas Acapulco has similar amenities and rates can be cheaper.

Palacio Mundo Imperial
Blvd Barra Vieja 3, Plan de Los Amates

Located a five-minute drive from Acapulco’s General Juan N. Alvarez International Airport, Resort Mundo Imperial could arguably be called one of the world’s most fabulous airport resorts. Its 814 air-conditioned rooms range from Superior to a 10,000-square foot Owner’s Suite with bright, modern interiors, flat-screen TVs, iHome iPod docks, and private balconies. The resort’s six restaurants get mostly positive reviews but have confusing hours and sometimes only one restaurant is open at at time. Five freshwater pools are gorgeous and include a wave pool and a secluded adult-only pool. Other amenities include a convention center, clay tennis courts, sandy soccer field, huge gym with free classes, spa, and separate kids' and teens' clubs. Major downsides include lack of beach and all-inclusive rates. For an oceanfront stay with lots of amenities and a gorgeous beach, it’s worth checking into the Grand Hotel Acapulco
