It's a popular option with families because of its playground and kids' pool. Scene

Rowdy scene popular with families and couples from anglophone countries

The grounds at the Filoxenia consist of five three-story stucco buildings laid out around two separate pools; the structures are a cheery yellow and plain, with balconies attached to each room and terra-cotta tile roofs. Guests hail largely from English-speaking countries, and there's a mix of families and vacationing couples. The property can be loud and rowdy during the day because of the large presence of children and the pool bar and occasional nighttime entertainment keep noise levels high at night, particularly by the pool.

Location

At the western end of Tsilivi, a 10-minute walk into town on a busy main road and a 25-minute walk to the beach

The property is situated on a main road leading out of town, which does generate a certain amount of traffic noise during the daytime in particular. Shops and restaurants start a 10-minute walk from the property; the downtown area of Tsilivi is about 20 minutes away on foot. Note that some parts of the road are lacking a sidewalk. The beach takes 25 minutes on foot although a free shuttle ferries guests there in about five minutes. The Zakynthos International Airport is a 15-minute drive away.

Rooms

Tile floors, molded plastic chairs, and striking photo-wallpaper in simple, clean rooms

Rooms here are light and sunny, with brightly colored molded plastic chairs and colorful photo-wallpaper that lends a theme to each room (water lilies or beach and palm trees, for example). Beyond these touches, the rooms are plain, and combine a kitchenette and sleeping quarters in a simple, tiled area. All rooms have balconies, hot plates, microwaves, mini-fridges, kettles, and toasters, and bathrooms have shower/tub combos and hairdryers. The daily cleaning service gets positive reviews from guests for its high standards.

Features

Two pools plus a children’s pool and an outdoor play area

For the most part, guests have commented favorably on the quality of the food offered as part of the all-inclusive package, though some have noted that menus can be repetitive, even within a single week. Some guests have complained of the quality of spirits used in cocktails; others have warned that their mixed drinks tasted watered down. There are two pools -- one of which has its own a covered bar -- as well as a kiddy pool. The lobby has an Internet terminal and there's free Wi-Fi throughout the property with a signal that's notably stronger in common areas than in rooms.
