Hotel 9, a small upscale boutique property spread over three floors, is located on a busy road across from the main bus station, about a mile from the city center. Built in 2013, the hotel is an architectural and decorative work of art, with lots of glass and shiny surfaces. The 20 stylish rooms, which include smart TVs, minibars, and free Wi-Fi, follow either a white, silver, or gold color scheme (some might find the decor too blingy). Grand Luxury King rooms are spacious with big bathrooms, while Luxury King rooms are much smaller. Hotel 9, with its high-end boutique cachet and free breakfast, delivers good value when compared with other hotels of the same category in the area, but for travelers seeking a more central location, the Arcotel Allegra may be a better choice -- not only for its location but for its extra amenities, such as a restaurant, spa, and wellness center.
Scene
Stylish boutique hotel with extravagant metallic decor
Hotel 9, a dark-gray small block of a building, seems a bit out of place on a busy street that's surrounded by older residential buildings. This starkly modern boutique property uses lots of glass, mirrors, and marble in its design. The ground and second floors are decorated predominantly in white, while the third floor has a silver color scheme, and the fourth is decked out in gold. Some guests love Hotel 9’s extravagant style, but others might find it a bit over the top, especially in the rooms, with their bold gold and black. The sleek ground floor bar, which is heavy on white and gray-veined marble, has a pleasant outdoor patio facing the street. Clientele is mainly couples and business travelers -- several international corporations and banks are nearby, along with handy bus and train links.
Location
Opposite the main bus station about a mile from the city center
Hotel 9 is located in a business district about a mile from the city center but with plenty of transportation links, making it easy to get around. It's across the street from the main bus station -- with service to the airport every 30 minutes and to major cities across Croatia -- and Tram No. 6 runs past the hotel and connects to Jelacic Square, the heart of Zagreb, in 16 minutes. A taxi stand is almost outside the hotel's door. The train station is a 22-minute trip on the streetcar, and Zagreb Airport is about a 25-minute drive.
Rooms
Ultra modern rooms with some special amenities
Rooms at Hotel 9 are ultra modern, with such amenities as intelligent LED room lighting, smart flat-screen TVs, and king-size beds. Bathrooms, some of which have dual sinks and separate soaking tubs, verge on the luxurious, with large walk-in showers with rainfall showerheads, and high-end toiletries by Etro. All rooms have minibars and ironing facilities, and some have couches, but desks and working space -- and coffeemakers -- are missing. Some second- and third-floor rooms have a balconies, while fourth-floor rooms have city views. Note that street-facing rooms might receive traffic noise.
