Scene

A countryside estate with colorful interiors surrounded by beautiful gardens

This charming hotel is situated on a countryside estate that
was originally an ancient Franciscan monastery in the 17th-century. It was later transformed at the end of the 19th-century into a
henequen plantation (a type of agave plant famous in the Yucatan). Around 2007, it came into its current
incarnation as a boutique hotel. The property is surrounded
by beautiful, lush gardens teeming with greenery, tropical plants, orange and
palm trees, and verdant lawns that frame lovely, colonial architecture. Tranquil
grounds have the vibe of a serene, secluded escape, which draws couples seeking
a peaceful getaway as well as families. The
property is comprised of several buildings, the main part of which is situated
in a crimson structure with arched windows edged in white. Interiors are homey
and colorful; there are several common areas that feature traditional details
like tiled floors and wooden ceiling beams, accompanied by lots of colorful
artwork adorning the walls and bright couches and armchairs.

Location

Peaceful location by small Mexican village, a 20-minute drive outside of Merida's center

The hotel is located outside of Merida, in a peaceful,
countryside location by a small village. There’s not much within walking
distance, which makes this hotel best suited for guests seeking an escape.
Merida’s center can be reached in about 20 minutes by car, where guests can visit sites such as the
Merida Cathedral, MACAY Museum, or the Casa Montejo Museum. Several Mayan ruins
can be reached in about an hour or two by car, including Uxmal,
Mayapan, and Chichen Itza. The Merida International Airport is about a
15-minute drive.

Rooms

Bright and colorful rooms with limited amenities

Rooms vary in size and style and include Doubles, Master, and Junior Suites, as well as Casitas. The bright spaces feature colorful walls and textiles in lively hues such as yellows, reds, and blues, as well as vibrant art on the walls. Rooms are simply furnished and can feel a bit spare, but boldly colored textiles and wrought-iron embellishments create a homey, inviting vibe. All rooms are equipped with air-conditioning and flat-screen TVs with satellite cable. Private bathrooms are equally colorful and have walk-in rainfall showers (some also have bathtubs), fluffy bathrobes, and a small selection of toiletries. Some rooms also have terraces, porches, or private gardens. The spacious Master Suites are located in the main house and can sleep up to four people, while the charming Junior Suites are located in the ancient chapel. Casitas are the largest accommodations and can sleep up to five guests.

Features

Two outdoor pools, restaurant with contemporary Mexican fare, spa, chapel, and game room

There’s also a lovely poolside terrace for alfresco dining. Free buffet breakfast is available daily. Guests seeking a dose of pampering and relaxation can indulge in a variety of massages, facials, and beauty treatments including waxing, manicures, and pedicures at the on-site spa, or they can book in-room treatments. There are also two lovely outdoor pools surrounded by sundecks with comfortable seating, loungers, and hammocks. The hotel has event spaces available for a variety of functions, including weddings or business events, as well as a chapel. The spacious game room has outdoor and indoor seating as well as a pool table, and another bright and colorful common lounge room is adorned with lots of art.
