Scene

A trailer-style holiday park near the beach, popular for budget-minded families with kids

The Primrose Valley Holiday Park is a seasonal caravan park located on a cliffside with beach access and one of the largest parks from the Haven Holidays group. The property is aimed at kids and attracts families traveling on a budget. The huge park has 3000 caravans and an extensive entertainment and recreational complex that includes outdoor and indoor pools with waterslides, a freshwater fishing and boating lake, a carnival-style fairground, and several playgrounds. The main entrance leads past clapboard caravans and green lawns to the small guest reception area housed in a bright blue building and surrounded by picnic tables. Further away, a low-rise structure houses several fast food dining options with lots of outdoor seating. The lovely lake is a green, peaceful part of the park, shaded with trees and surrounded by green lawns. The park also has direct access to a beautiful long stretch of sandy beach with cliff views.

Location

Cliffside location with beach access, a short drive to the town of Filey

The Primrose Valley Holiday Park is located on the Yorkshire Coast, an eight-minute drive to the closest town of Filey. The park is located off of the A165, a major motorway that leads to Scarborough, where travelers can visit Scarborough Castle and the Scarborough Sea Life Aquarium (19-minute drive), as well as Bridlington (20-minute drive). There is a bus stop serving several bus lines on the A165 (seven-minute walk from the park), with buses going to Scarborough, Bridlington, Bristol, and London. The beautiful white coastal cliffs of Flamborough can be reached in 25 minutes by car and the North York Moors National Park is a 36-minute drive away.

Rooms

Campsites and several types of caravans available for rent, all with kitchenettes

Besides campsites with electric hook-ups and connections for water and waste disposal, the park also has nine types of caravans to choose from that vary in size and quality. All units have flat-screen TVs, a gas fireplace, and fully-equipped kitchenettes with ovens, stoves, microwaves, fridges, and toasters, as well as free gas, heat, and electricity. Decor varies from basic, no-frills units, to nautical themed interiors with sailor-striped throw pillows and watercolor sailboat pictures. Some of the units have private decks and central heating throughout, while more basic caravans can get a bit cold and bed linens come at an extra charge. Cleanliness varies, and there have been some complaints about unclean caravans.

Features

Wealth of recreational activities and entertainment indoors and out

The park has a plethora of recreational activities and entertainment aimed at kids, including a heated outdoor pool and indoor pool complex with a waterslide, several playgrounds, outdoor laser tag, games arcade, and a fun fair with bumper cars. Numerous outdoor activities include a rock climbing wall, a ropes course and zip-line, two tennis courts, and mini-golf. There's a lovely freshwater lake for fishing and boating as well as direct access to a beautiful sandy beach. Activities can get pricey, however. There is a kids' club and a multitude of organized activities like arts and crafts classes and nature themed outdoor activities, as well as evening entertainment. The park has several food options, including Papa John's Pizza, a fish and chips shop, burger joint, pub restaurant, and a Starbucks, as well as a convenience store. There are laundry facilities on-site.
