The Cedar Lodge & Settlement is nestled into a forest on the shores of Wisconsin River, about 10-minutes outside of downtown Wisconsin Dells. There are 33 units total, some are individual log cabins while others are within the main two-story building. Each is owned by a different family or individual so all of the rooms are unique in their furnishings. The two-and-a-half pearl property looks like a large, expansive campground. The location is great for Wisconsin Dells visitors looking for a quiet location away from busy streets and for those who fish, there's a dock and boat launch. However, the cabin units are across the road, and away from the river. A heated outdoor swimming pool, water park passes, and open backyard don’t make up for the weak Wi-Fi, but they certainly do help take minds off of it.
Scene
Authentic cabin in the woods feel, each unit is different due to individual ownership
This scenic spot in Lower Wisconsin Dells is quiet with log cabins that are authentic and decorated in true rustic comfort. Navigating the grounds is easy, with clearly marked signs and only a few buildings, which have beautiful, log exteriors and wood-paneled-wall interiors. Tall trees and grassy lawns lead to the shores of the river. During warm months, the property can get noisy from the crowds of traveling families.
Location
Surrounded by trees and both Lake Delton and Wisconsin River
The area all around the cabins is nature. To one side of the property is the [Wisconsin River](1. On-site features include a private dock, adjacent to the Wisconsin River, which provides a scenic escape), and to the other is nothing but forest. It’s a great spot, especially for families, looking for a quiet place with the scenic beauty of Wisconsin Lake.River's Edge Bar is literally next-door, across the woodsy area, and is the closest dining option. The surrounding roads are wide and well paved, allowing for safe strolls and jogs. There are other hotels and resorts in the area but heavy traffic won’t be seen or heard from the Cedar Lodge & Settlement. For additional dining options, Broadway, the main road in downtown, has several offerings from Asian to American cuisine and is only a 10-minute drive away. Just across Lake Delton are two theme parks, Mt Olympus and Noah’s Ark, the largest water park in America.
Rooms
Variety of individually owned units -- general cozy cabin-style decor
Because the units are all individually owned, they are homey and unique, reflecting the personality of their owners. Lodge rooms, Suites, and Villas are mostly geared for families who want to come and stay for a week or more. All the units are well-maintained and clean, each has a kitchenette or full kitchens, electric fireplaces, and multiple beds, but different furniture and decor. Beds can range from king-size to bunk bed arrangements, the largest room sleeps eight people. There's daily housekeeping, though guests in the larger kitchen units are asked to dispose of their garbage in on-site dumpsters. Late sleepers beware, the hotel charges fines for checking out after 10 a.m.
Features
Heated outdoor pool and free passes to nearby water parks
Cedar Lodge & Settlement has nice amenities and features for active families. Free passes to the nearby indoor water park Chula Vista are offered to all guests year round, passes are also given out for Noah’s Ark, but on a seasonal basis. Convenient on-site add-ons include a small playground, barbecue grills, and picnic tables for a day outdoors. The location next to the Wisconsin River is also a big plus and the private dock provides a scenic escape from the dirt and rocks. If swimming in the big river isn’t on anyone’s list, there is a heated outdoor swimming pool on a wooden deck and views of the lake. Visitors can help themselves to free coffee and visitor booklets in the lobby. There are no on-site dining options. Wi-Fi is spotty, but free throughout the hotel.
