Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites, Williamsburg-Historic Gateway

This Holiday Inn’s renovation created a modern hotel that’s bright and appealing. It’s distinguished by high ceilings, natural stone tile floors, and handsome, amber-wood paneling framed by stainless steel. The hotel also is graced by a collection of art ranging from modern to classical that adds a touch of class. Despite being on a busy road, it’s a peaceful property surrounded by trees, and there's a cozy courtyard with comfy outdoor furniture and heaters for chilly nights. With suites representing more than half its room inventory, families flock here for the extra space, plus the hotel's solid lineup of amenities. 

The Holiday Inn is located on a relatively quiet stretch of Bypass Road/Route 60 that’s lined with other hotels and restaurants. It’s a short drive to most area attractions, and several restaurants are within walking distance, including a Denny’s that’s next door.

Guest rooms are fresh and contemporary, and while the lack of vibrant colors makes them somewhat dark, they're still pleasant overall. The palette mixes shades of brown, gold, and beige, accented by carpeting and drapes donning a tree-pattered motif. The matching reddish-brown wood furniture includes headboards and glass-topped desks with leather ergonomic office chairs. White duvets cover the beds that many past guests have praised for their comfort. Standard Double Queen units have armchairs and granite-topped dry bars that contain the mini-fridges, microwaves, and Keurig coffeemakers, and there's also flat-screen TVs, safes, and free Wi-Fi. Bathrooms have lovely quartz vanities and recessed shelves and walls accented with distinctive backsplash-style glass beads, but budget-quality, acrylic shower/tub combos take them down a notch. Suites make up more half the room inventory and come in one-bedroom and two-bedroom, two-bathroom options. All include sleeper sofas and additional flat-screen TVs in separate living rooms. Units are quiet, but expect uninspiring views of the surrounding grounds. 

This modern Holiday Inn has an attractive package of amenities for a hotel in its category, including Bistro 515 restaurant and bar. Breakfast costs extra and offers a la carte and buffet options. There's no lunch service, but there are daily happy hour specials and American classics on the menu for dinner. Room service is available. 

The indoor pool and whirlpool are a bit small, but they’re enclosed in a bright and pleasant space that’s painted aqua blue. The fitness center is also short on space and has no free weights, but it has several cardio and weight-training machines, including four treadmills. 

Other amenities include meeting space for up to 235 people, and a dedicated business center with two computers and printers. Freebies include Wi-Fi throughout, on-site parking, and coffee in the lobby. The minimart sells convenience items, soft drinks, snacks, and frozen entrees that can be microwaved in rooms. The guest laundry room has three washer/dryers, and valet dry cleaning and laundry services are available.
