Bottom Line
Located less than a mile from Colonial Williamsburg and 10 minutes from Busch Gardens, this mid-range hotel caters to tourists and business travelers on a budget. Rooms feature mini-fridges, microwaves, and comfy beds. There aren’t many bells and whistles, but a free breakfast buffet, indoor pool, and modern fitness center make the Hampton Inn a good value for the area.

A generic Hampton Inn with a mix of dated and modern decor
Built in 2006 and bordered by a sprawling parking lot, this 109-room property has some nice features -- including a modest indoor pool, hot, fitness center, and sundry shop -- but the overall look is generic. The lobby is wide and long, with a large arrangement of fake flowers displayed on a table in the center of the room. Yellow walls with wooden paneling and dated brown chairs make the space feel rather dull and in need of a makeover. Beyond the lobby is a more contemporary breakfast room, which has been spruced up with lime green walls, pendant lighting, and black-and-white nature photography.
Most guests are families (especially in the summer), couples, and occasionally business travelers. Groups often stay in the larger studio suites, which can up the noise level (walls tend to be on the thin side), but the overall position of the hotel -- set back from the highway and traffic -- makes it a relatively quiet property.
Location
A two-minute drive from Colonial Williamsburg
About a mile off Interstate 64, this Hampton Inn is located in a sprawling parking lot next to Capitol Landing Road -- one of Williamsburg’s main thoroughfares. Colonial Williamsburg is a two-minute drive south, and plenty of chain restaurants and shops are within a five-minute drive.
- Nine-minute drive to Water Country USA and Busch Gardens
- 10-minute drive to Williamsburg Premium Outlet shopping
- 13-minute drive to Williamsburg-Jamestown Airport
- 20-minute drive to Historic Jamestowne and Yorktown
- 43-minute drive from the Richmond International Airport
Rooms
Bland chain rooms with microwaves, mini-fridges, and coffeemakers
This Hampton Inn offers standard rooms and studio suites (which are really just larger rooms with sofa beds). Guests can choose between one king or two queen beds, complete with white duvet covers and down pillows. All units include microwaves, mini-fridges, coffeemakers, and flat-screen HDTVs. Cream-colored walls, red patterned carpets, plain wooden furniture, and generic landscape paintings make for uninspiring decor, but the rooms are clean and the beds are cozy.
Features
Free hot breakfasts, heated indoor pool, and a 24-hour sundry shop
The Comfort Inn offers a solid array of amenities, including a guest laundry room, 24-hour sundry shop, decent fitness center, and an indoor heated pool and hot tub. Free weekday newspapers and coffee are available in the lobby 24/7. A free hot breakfast is served each morning, and guests in a hurry can grab a free to-go breakfast bag (weekdays only). For business travelers, a 24-hour business center offers phones, printing, faxing, and copying services.
