Scene

Ornate and luxurious, with a lot of history

The huge lobby is a bright and welcoming maze of chairs and sofas nestled around large fireplaces. It's decorated with indigenous plants and animal busts, as well as prints of nature scenes. The reception desk is directly across from the concierge, and entrances to several restaurants, ballrooms, and bars are nearby. The lobby's windows and large back porch look out onto magnificent mountain views. During the winter, it's bustling with groups of skiers while the summer months welcome active families.

Location

Quiet and scenic, with beautiful views

Tucked into the mountains, the Omni Mount Washington is notable for its breathtaking views of local scenery. The hotel is removed enough to feel peaceful and secluded, but it's still convenient to local attractions. It's a short drive from ski resorts and other local golf courses (although it has a couple of its own) and is a longer drive to several nearby towns, including Whitefield, which is 20 minutes away.

Rooms

Historic property with luxurious amenities and decor

There's a variety of room types and sizes at this historic hotel, each with its own unique look. The property has been around since the turn of the 20th century, and is now managed by the Omni Hotels and Resorts. Those familiar with the brand won’t be disappointed -- even standard rooms are charming and cozy (albeit small), and larger accommodations have fireplaces, seating areas, and separate bars and kitchenettes, as well as beautiful views. There are many sizes of luxurious suites for larger parties; the cottages and rooms in the lodge have a more casual, rustic feel.

Features

A wide variety of amenities and activities, available year-round

The Mount Washington Resort is set up so that guests can dine, golf, and be pampered without having to leave the property. Fun, atypical activities such as sleigh rides, zip lining, and dog sledding are available, and the resort has a large fitness room, spa, indoor and outdoor pools, ballrooms, meeting spaces, and a video game arcade. Fire pits and two on-site golf courses provide wonderful entertainment in the warmer months, and in the winter, free shuttles bring guests to local ski resorts. The hotel also has a fine-dining restaurant, a steak house, and a few bars_, _including a speakeasy dating back to the Prohibition. And for those who really don't want to leave the property, the resort has a few retails shops and even its own post office.
