This beautiful, stately English manor evokes an experience that transports guests to a more elegant time period. Many of the features of the original house were preserved, such as wood paneled hallways, intricate cornice ceilings, and stained glass windows. The Persian rugs, patterned upholstered seating, and gold chandeliers found throughout the hotel provide a classically grand ambiance to the halls and various lounges. The front lobby has certain modern touches, such as tiled floors and structured white ceilings that may seem a bit out of place, but a stately grandfather clock, a carved fireplace, and elegant rugs and chairs provide a warm addition.

The hotel is located outside of downtown Birmingham in a quiet, residential, suburban area. The Birmingham Airport is a 20-minute drive away. The hotel overlooks a golf club; many guests travel here to play golf. There aren't any restaurants or shops within walking distance, though the location is peaceful.

The hotel offers a variety of room styles, ranging from a Standard Single to a room with a luxurious whirlpool tub next to the bed. They all have have simple, yet tasteful decor that is traditional in style. Though individual details can vary, most rooms have patterned bedspreads and curtains as well as framed paintings on the wall. The furniture is generally basic and mostly made from dark stained wood. Each room comes with a desk, armoire, flat-screen TV, safe, and electric kettle for making coffee and tea. Some of the larger, higher-tier rooms include mini-fridges, separate sitting rooms, and outdoor space or balconies. The bathrooms are more modern than the bedrooms, although some appear to be more recently updated than others. They differ from room to room, but most have sleek, modern appliances, glass showers, and luxury toiletries.

There are many features that add value to this already beautiful, relaxing hotel. The serene, beach-themed spa has several treatment rooms decorated with ocean blue accents and starfish so guests can feel like they are seaside while enjoying a facial or massage. There is a large fitness facility with many up-to-date machines, free weights, and a changing room. There is also a separate large studio with stationary bikes, exercise balls, and various types of exercise equipment. Guests can also enjoy the large indoor pool and whirlpool. For those traveling for business, there are many facilities to utilize, including a business center with computers as well as seven meeting rooms. The hotel has various elegant lounges to relax in and three bars -- one which leads to an outdoor terrace. Guests can enjoy the two restaurants at the hotel: the award-winning Oak Room restaurant and the casual Country Kitchen restaurant.
