The Park Hyatt is one of the best all-around high-end hotels in D.C., but it's not fussy or stuffy in the least. The hotel sits in the middle of the city's revitalized West End, bordering the Dupont Circle, Foggy Bottom, and Georgetown neighborhoods. It attracts mostly business travelers, including many attending on-site events or meetings (the hotel has 12,000 square feet of event and meeting space). However, a fair amount of leisure travelers pass through on the weekends. The rooms are large and feel even bigger, thanks to designer Tony Chi's contemporary lines, artful touches, and peaceful interiors. He has given the rooms a strong residential feel, with defined living spaces -- even in the smallest rooms. That homey vibe carries over into the hotels common areas as well, which are tricked out in the same natural woods, sober hues, and minimalist lines that feel a bit Pacific Northwest by way of Scandinavia. In this day and age -- when everything looks like a co-working space -- the hotel manages to feel polished and functional while also having a distinctly relaxing vibe. Features including an indoor pool, fitness center, and in-room spa services are top-notch. Blue Duck Tavern, the hotel's on-site restaurant, has been Michelin starred, making it a must for foodies and adding even more upmarket appeal to the Park Hyatt.

This hotel is located in the trendy West End, a neighborhood that's home to some of the city's top dining and drinking options. It also borders the neighborhoods of Dupont Circle, Foggy Bottom, and Georgetown -- putting all of these within a 15-minute walk. The location is convenient for travelers wanting to be close the U.S. State Department, George Washington University, and the World Bank. However, the major tourist sites along the National Mall are a bit far to reach on foot. For travelers needing to visit those parts of the city, the hotel conveniently sits between two Metrorail stations: Foggy Bottom/GWU (Orange, Silver, and Blue lines) and Dupont Circle (Red line). It's a 10-minute walk to either. Travel to or from Reagan National Airport takes approximately 20 minutes by car, while Dulles and BWI are 60 to 90 minutes away by car (depending on traffic).

The 220 rooms at the Park Hyatt Washington were completely renovated in 2017 and have a look that manages to combine the sober lines of minimalism with homey details. They're a refreshing take on the start-up office style found in so many renovated corporate chains these days. Entry-level rooms are a spacious 336 square feet (31 square meters) while the suites range from 544 to 2,006 square feet (51 to 186 square meters). All rooms feature a wonderful mix of dark colors and natural textures that include grass-cloth wall coverings, plaid wool rugs, custom glasswork pieces by artist Amanda Weil, and walnut wood platform beds complete with leather headboards. Standard amenities are plentiful, including 42-inch flat-screen HDTVs, Nespresso machines, minibars, laptop-size safes, robes and slippers, Bluetooth alarm clock radios, and bedside light controls. The bathrooms are roomy, with large marble-top vanities, magnifying mirrors, scales, premium Le Labo toiletries, and either showers with rainfall showerheads or deep soaking tubs (higher-category rooms often have both). Free bottled water, Wi-Fi with digital access to The New York Times, ice delivery, shoe shines, and turn down service are also included.

The Park Hyatt Washington is chock-full of impressive features. The hotel's crown jewel is its Michelin-starred restaurant, Blue Duck Tavern. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, it serves American cuisine with a strong focus on local ingredients. It features an open kitchen and seasonal outdoor terrace, drawing tourists and locals alike. The restaurant also has a separate lounge area with glass-enclosed seating areas plus a nightly artisanal cheese table and light fare menu. The restaurant's Tea Cellar includes more than 50 rare and limited-production teas. As part of the hotel's 24-hour room service, guests are able to order off Blue Duck Tavern's menu during its normal operating hours. In addition, a small number of seats are held each night at the restaurant for hotel guests on a first-come-first-served basis.    The 24-hour fitness center features state-of-the-art equipment, is flanked by windows to let in plenty of natural light, and has headphones, bottled water, and cold towels. A skylight covers the heated, indoor saltwater pool, which is surrounded by a deck with lounge chairs and an elevated whirlpool. Although fairly basic, there's a business center with computers, printers, and a fax machine as well. It's surprisingly simple for a business-oriented hotel, though there is over 12,000 square feet of meeting space as well (1,114 square meters). Guests also receive free access to car services (based upon availability) and the hotel runs a bicycle lending program. For those traveling with a dog, the Park Hyatt is pet-friendly and provides bed, water bowl, and treats as part of a non-refundable fee. For parking, only valet service is offered.
