Scene
Straightforward, modern hotel in a stunning waterfront setting
The
exterior of the hotel is an modern mix of white render and timber, helping it blend in well with the waterside surroundings. The sound of the water and the herring gulls give the
property a relaxed feel as soon as guests arrive, as the hotel's position right on Conwy Estuary means there is no traffic around. The
entrance to the hotel has a smart and classy feel, with a polished marble
floor, black grand piano, and large floral arrangement in the lobby.
Nautical-themed artwork dots the space, and there is comfortable
seating near the wooden reception desk. To add to the calm vibe, the hotel's courtyard is a Zen-inspired garden. There are water features, stone Buddhas, and perfectly manicured Bonsai trees. The hotel is popular with
both tourists and some business guests. It also attracts plenty of wedding
parties as the stunning estuary backdrop and the Castle make for great
photos. Locals flock here too for the
afternoon tea and to dine in the restaurant in the evening.
Location
Quiet coastal location near two train stations
The
hotel occupies a unique position on the Conwy Estuary that has stunning views
across to Conwy Castle, which looks particularly breathtaking when lit up at
night. It’s a quiet coastal location, with a residential area on one side of
the hotel, and a boat yard on the other. There's nothing in the
immediate area, but most guests come for the views and to get away from the clamor of everyday life.
The hotel is easy to reach, though, as Llandudno Junction train station -- which has
direct links from London, Chester, Manchester, and Cardiff -- is just a two-minute
drive away. It’s also an eight-minute walk from the Deganwy train station. Reaching the 13th-century Conwy Castle takes around eight-minutes by car. The Victorian
resort town of Llandudno is a 10-minute drive from the hotel, and Snowdonia National Park is a
45-minute drive. The nearest airport is Liverpool John Lennon Airport, which takes
an hour and 20 minutes to reach by car.
