Features include a bistro and bar that serves breakfast for an extra fee, and there's a cafe with to-go items and Starbucks coffee. There's no outdoor pool, and while the indoor pool is in a bright space and there's a fitness center, both are on the small side. Travelers looking for accommodations with similar rates and free hot breakfast can consider Best Western Plus Oceanfront Virginia Beach.
Scene
A modern tourist hotel with a spacious and cheerful lobby
Banks of windows and tropical colors give this contemporary tourist hotel that opened in 1999 a bright and cheerful ambiance. Vibrant shades of orange and blue give decor a fresh look, and there's ultra-modern furniture. Geometric accents throughout give a sense of flow and movement. There are plenty of communal areas for travelers to relax, and daily happy hour specials at the Bistro attract guests to the lobby. The bistro’s outdoor terrace that overlooks the beach is popular throughout the day, and the lobby coffee shop also sees a steady flow of traffic. This casual and relaxed hotel draws vacationing families and couples alike.

Rooms
Spacious but dated, with mini-fridges, coffeemakers, and ocean-view balconies
Lots of natural light combined with bright colors give guest rooms a warm glow -- and all have furnished balconies with ocean views. There are golden-yellow walls and rust-and-gold striped carpeting, and the light-blue accent walls and nautical-themed photography add a nice contrast. Dark-wood furniture includes headboards and desks with office chairs, and white duvets cover the beds. The Standard Double-Double we saw also had a bright-orange armchair and brown leather ottoman. Overall, the decor is pleasant, but it feels a bit dated. Standard amenities include flat-screen TVs, coffeemakers, mini-fridges, and free Wi-Fi, but there are no safes. Each floor has a communal microwave next to the ice machines in the hallways. Larger suites add sleeper sofas and kitchenettes with wet bars and microwaves. Bathrooms have average shower/tub combos, but en-suite granite vanities are wide and well-illuminated. Units are generally tidy, but the grout in the bathroom we saw could have used a more thorough scrubbing. Units are generally quiet, given their central location along the busy boardwalk, and they start at 378 square feet.
Features
Indoor pool/whirlpool, bistro/bar, and free Wi-Fi, but breakfast and parking cost extra
This beachfront, tourist hotel has an indoor pool in a pleasant and bright area with a rather narrow, lap-style pool that’s surrounded by loungers and a whirlpool. There's also a fitness center, but it’s poorly equipped, with only two Life Fitness treadmills, an elliptical, and free weights. The Bistro is open for breakfast (fee), lunch, dinner, and serves lighter American fare such as salads, sandwiches, and flatbreads. Room service is available. The bar has happy hour specials, and the coffee shop that's part of the eatery serves to-go items and Starbucks coffee and espresso drinks. The hotel also has a pantry that sells snacks, soft drinks, wine, and beer. Concierge services include valet dry cleaning and laundry, and there is a guest laundry room, but it only has one washer/dryer. The business center has multiple computers, printers, and desks, and there's a meeting room that can host up to 60 people. Free newspapers and ice water are available in the lobby, and a safety deposit box is at the front desk for guests to use. Wi-Fi is free throughout, but parking costs extra, and there's one parking pass per room.
