Hotel Raito
Via Nuova Raito 9

A well-respected hotel on Italy's Amalfi Coast, the 77-room Hotel Raito is a romantic and exclusive getaway high up on a coastal cliff. Most rooms have balconies overlooking the sea and some of the suites have whirlpool hot tubs; decor here isn't as luxe as what one may expect at an upscale property. There's also a spa on-site as well as a beautiful pool area with fantastic views of the Gulf of Salerno. Because of its romantic ambiance, the Raito is a popular wedding spot, and some guests have complained of noisy post-nuptial parties.

Lloyd's Baia Hotel
Via Enrico de Marinis 2, Via Benedetto Croce snc

Lloyd’s is a budget pick that has access to a lovely beach (for a fee). Some rooms have nice terrace areas, but those with balconies have either lovely views of the Mediterranean or drab views of a loud shipyard. Although babysitting is available, the hotel seems geared toward budget-minded couples, as it has no pool -- but it does have its own beach disco. The historic village of Vietri is a five-minute walk away, and there's on-site parking and an airport shuttle. However, rooms are generally stark and the free Wi-Fi is unreliable.

Relais Paradiso
Via Nuova Raito 10

Travelers looking for a chic, swish hotel along the Amalfi Coast without all the pomp should consider the five-pearl Relais Paradiso. Secluded away from the nearby village of Vietri sul Mare and surrounded by gorgeous scenery, the 22-room boutique is intimately, elegantly posh. The rooftop pool with sea vistas alone is quite special, and the restaurant is excellent. Rooms are serene and spa-like, with romantic touches, modern amenities, and private terraces. The village, as well as popular sights such as Pompeii and the coastal towns of Amalfi and Positano, are within easy reach by car (there's free parking on-site, too). Families wanting something a bit more kid-friendly but still luxe would do well to look to Il San Pietro di Positano, which offers access to a private beach and a 24-hour shuttle to town.
