The 109-room Victoria Hoi An Beach Resort & Spa is a lovely property on Cua Dai Beach, a 10-minute drive from Hoi An's ancient town. The property is filled with lush landscaping, walkways, and ponds, and rooms have a modern Vietnamese style with sharp traditional accents. They also come with modern electronics, high-end coffeemakers, and have outdoor spaces, some with outdoor showers. The popular pool overlooks the beach, and a restaurant and three bars ensure no one stays hungry or thirsty. The Boutique Hoi An Resort is a similar nearby resort with slightly lower rates, but it doesn't have the same traditional charms found at the Victoria.
Scene
Sharp beachside resort with blend of modern and traditional styles
With a full range of facilities, the Victoria Hoi An is one of the bigger hotels in the area. The property is designed like a traditional Vietnamese fishing village, with walkways, water ponds, and low-slung buildings with clay-tiled roofs creating a lovely, relaxing setting. Guests enter the two-story main building via a flight of stairs flanked by bougainvillea. Inside, the two-floor lobby is airy and bright, with a dash of colonial charm. There are patterned tile floors, large wooden columns, Vietnamese art, potted and hanging plants, and multiple contemporary seating areas that have slightly vintage lines. Wooden stairs lead up to the open second floor, where the library, game room, business center, and bar are found. The hotel is especially popular with couples and families, but it does attract some group bookings as well.
Location
On the main Cua Dai Beach strip, a 10-minute drive from ancient town
The hotel is located on the main beach strip of Cua Dai Beach with easy access to the Bon River and the South China Sea. The charming ancient market town of Hoi An, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a 10-minute drive away, and the hotel provides a free shuttle that runs several times a day. The hotel also offers tours on motorbikes with sidecars. Other local sights include the Marble Mountains, which are 25 minutes away, and My Son Sanctuary, a collection of ancient Hindu temples that's also a UNESCO site and takes about an hour to reach by road. Da Nang and its airport are 40 minutes away by car, and transfers from the airport by bus or private car can be arranged through the hotel.
Rooms
Eclectic rooms with modern conveniences and terraces, some right on the beach
Inspired by Japanese, Vietnamese and French Colonial design, rooms feature wood floors and locally crafted warm wood furniture with white bed coverings and upholstery. Some have accents in rich, saturated colors such as red, gold, and purple, while others use subtler and more subdued hues. Wall art ranges from sparingly used abstracts prints to more eye-catching oversized traditional fans and carved wooden wall features. The look throughout all rooms is modern and bright, though we did spot a bit of minor wear on some furniture. Balconies and terraces are nicely furnished with views of the river, gardens, or the sea, and some rooms are right on the beach. The Junior Suite is a particularly stylish choice, with darker furniture and charming accents like exposed-beam ceilings. Standard amenities include flat-screen TVs, traditional Vietnamese robes, tea service, minibars, and fresh fruit. Bathrooms are modern and attractive, with above-counter sinks, deep soaking tubs, and upscale toiletries. Some rooms even have outdoor showers.
Features
Restaurant and three bars, pool, spa, tennis, cooking classes, kids' club, meeting room, and library
There are a fine number of on-site features here to keep guests occupied or help them unwind after a day touring Hoi An. L'Annam Restaurant specializes in seafood and serves international and local fare for all meals, including a free breakfast buffet (freshly squeezed OJ and sparkling wine are a fine extra treat!). Dining takes place in a lovely open space or out on the beautiful garden terrace, with flowers and a lotus pond. Dancers perform on certain nights, bringing a livelier dynamic to the resort. Faifo Bar serves drinks and snacks by the beach and pool, and the Cham Bar in the lobby also offers live entertainment in the evenings. The Elephant Bar has two pool tables and a big-screen TV for keeping up with the latest news and sports.
Cushioned lounge chairs and umbrellas are provided next to the pool and at the private beach. A variety of treatments, including massage, reflexology, and facials are offered at the Victoria Spa, and there's also a fitness center, a whirlpool, a sauna, and a steam bath. Other activities include tennis, beach volleyball, water sports, and free rental bikes. Guests can also take Vietnamese cooking classes with the hotel's chef. A kids' area keeps the little ones entertained. For business visitors, there's a meeting room with wrap-around windows that can accommodate up to 70 people and comes with audiovisual equipment. A business desk provides computers and a printer, and Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel. There's also a nice library with books and boardgames plus sofas and chairs for reading and relaxing. Airport transfers are not included in standard room rates.
