Tan Hoang Long Hotel occupies a tall and narrow 10-story building on a pleasant tree-lined street with lots of shops and small businesses in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City. A short flight of stairs lead up to the large glass doors that open to the reception area. With its beige marble walls, faux crystal chandeliers, and overstuffed sofas and armchairs upholstered in a gray-and-white floral pattern, some might find the decor a bit ostentatious given its rates. The hotel draws budget-conscious travelers from across the spectrum -- especially couples -- but groups of friends and families check in here too.

Tan Hoang Long Hotel has 28 Double and Twin Rooms, all with en-suite bathrooms. Rooms have white-tile floors with inlayed burgundy-and-black accents, white walls with molding, and white bed linens trimmed with white-and-gold matching pillows and bed runners. The overall effect is traditional and a touch formal. Standard Double Rooms can be small and a bit cramped for two people and luggage. Note that some of these rooms do not have windows, making them a bit gloomy. The Superior Twin and Luxury Master Rooms are larger.
Air-conditioning, 24- or 32-inch flat-screen TVs, minibars, and electric kettles are included in all the guest rooms, as well as free Wi-Fi. The bathrooms are tiled in beige and white, and have granite sinktops and large bathtubs fitted with showerheads. (Higher-category rooms have jetted tubs.)
