Silverland Central Hotel

Guests are greeted with a glass of lemongrass tea in the lobby, which has some charming Vietnamese and French Colonial details, but a dated look overall. The restaurant also has traditional decor, but it's more attractive, with crown molding, chandeliers, and a stunning antique gilded clock. The hotel's highlight feature is on the opposite side of the design spectrum -- a chic and modern rooftop bar, with a rainbow-striped awning, rows of sleek banquettes, and a wide terrace that offers prime views of the city's skyline. The atmosphere here is relaxed and family-friendly, and the hotel draws mostly leisure travelers, particularly couples. 

Silverland Central is in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, within walking distance of shops, dining, and public transportation. The closest attraction is bustling Ben Thanh Market, just a three-minute walk away, and it's roughly 12 minutes on foot to the 19th-century Saigon Opera House and to Independence Palace. 

Other top sights require taking public transportation, and there are several bus stops within a two-minute walk. Notre Dame Cathedral and War Remnants Museum, which features exhibits on Indochina War and Vietnam War, are both about a 15-minute ride. 

The Ho Chi Minh Passenger Ferry Port on the Saigon River is a 10-minute drive or 15-minute walk from the hotel. It takes roughly 35 minutes to reach Saigon Railway Station via public transit. Tan Son Nhat International Airport is about a 25-minute drive or about an hour taking public transit. 

Guest rooms and suites at Silverland Central are simple in their design, with touches of elegance in the patterned wallpaper, wood floors, and matching lavender velvet armchairs and headboards. Some rooms  lack windows, while other offer skyline views. All units are well-equipped with air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, minibars, safes, and free Wi-Fi and bottled water, are standard, and junior suites add seating areas with sofas. Bathrooms are more basic, but they boast deep and have all come with hairdryers and bathtubs, and tubs in suites are jetted. Rooms range from 215 to 409 square feet. 

Silverland Central's biggest asset is its excellent lineup of features. Guests praise the free hot breakfast offered at the hotel's full-service restaurant. The spread has everything from cooked-to-order eggs and baguettes to pho and dim sum, plus halal items. Lunch and dinner menus feature Asian fusion cuisine. Another highlight is the rooftop bar, which serves inventive cocktails and light  fare, and boasts a terrace with great views of the city. The bar hosts weekly DJ parties, live music and performances, and corporate events.

There's no fitness center -- perhaps the only drawback in terms of amenities -- but there's a spacious full-service spa, with treatments such as caviar facials, hot stone massages, and green tea body toning. The spa also has a hot tub, sauna, and steam room.

Other amenities include a 24-hour front desk, concierge, a business center with multiple desktop computers, and free daily newspapers. The hotel has no parking, and public parking is hard to come by in Ho Chi Minh City. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout.
